Establishing Authority in Your Blogging Life

If you utilize the Internet to promote a business or if you generate content for a business website, you already know that creating fresh content on your blog and maintaining your network are extremely important. Fact is, you need to establish yourself as an expert in your field. A blog is a great way to do this. I have been a part-time contractor dealing in Long Island real estate, and have read many articles over the years about how to promote businesses over the Web. However, the one topic that is lacking is an emphasis on establishing yourself as an authority in your field.

Only recently, I realized how important blogging could be as a resource when generating business from the Web. Not only will your blog contribute to the blogosphere at large, but blogging is also a chance to engage and interact with other bloggers. I found answers to a few important questions about how to utilize your blog to benefit your business.

Audience & Engagement

Many bloggers expect that readers will simply find them. This is simply not true. You need to market your blog through various venues such as the social networking sites. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Tumblr provide great opportunities for bloggers to drive readers to their blogs. Such social media sites allow you to interact with professionals in your field and to develop a following for your blog.

I once made a positive comment about an interior designer on my blog. I didn’t have any particular purpose in mind other than I just appreciated the talents of this person. I was surprised the next day when she left a favorable comment on the blog in response to my statement. Over time, the relationship developed into a mentorship of sorts. This just goes to show how powerful blogging can be and how relationships may develop out of interacting through a blog.

Authority

The key to a successful blog is to establish yourself as an expert in your field. Write interesting content that is related to the work that you perform. If you have an online business, you are already an expert. Write with authority when creating content for your blog.

Have confidence in your writing and your abilities and write what you know well. The truth is that you are most likely an authority in more than one topic. The more you establish yourself as an authority in your chosen field, the more your audience will want to read what you have to say. When you write authoritative content that is rich with information, the more you will build a following for your blog.

One way to establish yourself as an authority in your field is to publish tutorials and instructional articles. The knowledge that you take for granted will surely be someone else’s golden nugget. Share your knowledge by teaching others how to achieve certain objectives in your line of business.

Regular Contributions

One important factor in maintaining a good blog is to post regular contributions. Not only will your readers keep coming back for fresh, new content, but search engines LOVE new content. Fresh, new content will boost your page rank in the major search engines.

An occurrence taught me just how important regular contributions can be for a blog. I once maintained a blog, but for personal reasons, I had to put it aside for a couple of months. When I returned, I found that my readership had plummeted. When I read the last entry I had posted, I realized that I had made no mention of taking a hiatus. In fact, I left readers with a cliffhanger. Needless to say, at that point I understood how important regular and timely entries are to any blog.

Readership

Consider your readership if you must take a break from your blog. Though it is important to post fresh content on a regular basis, sometimes all bloggers need a break. I noticed that bloggers dealt with their absences in several different ways. Some would engage guest bloggers. Others would repost interesting and relevant content, and others would direct readers to other sites while they were taking a break from the blog. Whatever strategy you use when you must be away from your blog for a while, do something that will keep your readership engaged and coming back for more. Always consider your readership when you need to take a break from blogging. You will maintain your following and your readers will continue to frequent your blog if you take measures to engage them in your absence.

Blogging is a great way to promote your business and to create fresh content that establishes you as an authority in your field. Put these tips into practice and you will enjoy a successful blog and continue to share valuable information with your readers.

PPC and Affiliate Marketing | A Recipe for Success?

As all internet marketers will tell you (and as you’ll likely already know), affiliate marketing is a numbers game. It’s all about getting the right number of eyes in front of the products you’re looking to sell. Depending on the niche you work in, you may or may not find that PPC, or Pay Per Click, solutions are a good way to generate traffic. But it’s often not as simple as just throwing some money at it and hoping for the best: many PPC companies frown on the promotion of affiliate products via their networks, so you have to be a bit smarter in the way that it’s done. Some marketers think they can just link directly to a product via their affiliate link, but almost all PPC providers have a ban on this activity, so tempting as it may be – don’t do it. Instead, use the following tips to create a landing page that will sell the products well without being seen as too ‘thin’ by PPC solutions like Google Adwords.

Use a ‘top list’ format on your landing page

Most affiliate marketers know that the only place you’ll really make good money is with high ticket items. Let’s say you’re an Amazon Associate, for example. If you get 100 visitors a day and they all purchase an item that has quite a low selling price, your commission will be peanuts. Then again, if you secure referrals on products like washing machines, computers, and fitness equipment, you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank. You can then use any one of the many global money transfer services to move the funds into your local account and enjoy the fruits of your labour. But if you’re using PPC, you can’t simply link straight to Amazon’s top selling washing machine; instead you may want to consider altering the format of your landing page to be (or at least seem) more informational. A top list format is a good idea, because it gives you the opportunity to list the top ten products in a category, then offer a short review of each one. After that, just throw in your affiliate link below each one. This is a simple method but will require some quality content, otherwise the PPC provider may take unkindly to it.

Create a fully-fledged review site

Another successful way to use PPC in tandem with affiliate marketing is to make yourself an authority site which reviews the latest and best products in your niche. Using our earlier example, you could make a site called ‘Washing Machine Reviews’ or something similar, then use one of the many WordPress review themes (like ProReview) to quickly and easily make a review site. Again, content is key here, so you may need to hire a content writer to craft quality and balanced reviews. Most of the review themes allow you to insert your own affiliate link on a per-product basis, then you can use PPC to bring visitors to the home page of the site.

Move fast when a new merchant launches

Because there is so much competition in the world of affiliate marketing, using PPC can often be the fastest way to turn a profit – as long as you act fast yourself. That means that when you see a new merchant that you think will be popular launch on your affiliate network, you should waste no time in setting up a landing page and getting some PPC ads on the go. Another benefit here is that if the merchant is part of a newer niche, the CPC price is often much lower than it would be in other niches. If you’re fast enough, you’ll be able to bring people to your landing page quickly and send them straight on to the merchant – collecting your commission along the way.

Remember: PPC and affiliate marketing can be a double-edged sword. If you can find a niche with a low CPC, you’ll be on easy street. On the other hand, if you’re trying to enter a niche that’s already saturated with affiliates, you’ll find the price per click in a restricting factor. As always, do your research properly and you should have no problem turning a considerable profit using Pay Per Click advertising in combination with affiliate marketing.

Getting Your Videos Ranked High On YouTube

YouTube is by far one of the best ways to share videos on the Internet these days. The giant video sharing site has gone from nothing to the biggest thing on the web in the past few years. As they realize the value of video content, many internet marketers are taking advantage of the website to help drive traffic to their own sites and improve their exposure. However, a problem that many face is achieving a high rank on YouTube when people search using their specific keyword. So how do you really go about getting your videos popular enough to rank high?

How effectively you’ve optimized your own videos plays a sizable role in the success of your video position on YouTube. You can’t ignore optimizing your videos for the targeted keywords if YouTube doesn’t know what keywords to rank a person for, you won’t get ranked. It’s also important to optimize your movies so that you get the appropriate viewers to your videos. The right level of optimization will help you make the most out of your videos.

Look for ways to get more subscribers to your channel on YouTube, as this will help you promote your videos. If you want your videos to rank more highly, this is one factor that will help you achieve this.

Subscribers indicate to YouTube that people are interested in your videos, and this shows that they deserve a higher ranking. Subscribers are also a built in audience for your videos, and they can help spread them even further. If you don’t pay attention to critical elements such as this, your videos will probably not get ranked very well. When you submit videos to YouTube, like any kind of marketing, you have to do some testing and find out what works best for your personal business and market.

Tags on YouTube are a great feature and help the site and users search for relevant videos. Your tags have to be populated with your keywords, and not just used for the sake of using them. Use related keywords to use with tags, like dog Training if you’re looking for that kind of video. Once you get started with Facebook features this will help you with rankings. As you can see, to make a mark on YouTube, you need to have your videos in a good ranking position. This will get you targeted viewers for your videos and also consistent traffic. Start taking action on these tips now and you’ll see your videos steadily climb up the search results.

Typical Twitter Marketing Mistakes

Are you excited about making money with lots of Twitter followers? To succeed with Twitter, though, you first should know about some common mistakes that are often made so you can avoid them. Anytime you are just starting out with something new, it is often easy to feel like you are just treading water. All the old vets of internet marketing went through that and know the deal. Obviously you need to have some working capital for outsourcing which a high percentage of new web businesses cannot afford.

There is no reason why you should hastily dismiss anything of possible value to your business. If you are new to online business, then seek reliable knowledge on the subject so you will possibly avoid costly missteps. We know you want to grow your business and expand, but due diligence is simply common sense.

How to promote on Twitter

When you start promoting on Twitter, you will need to give out the links to your products. Don’t actually publish them without first warming up your followers. In other words, tweet a few things about the product first to your followers and then send out the links to your sales pages. Talk about the subjects in your niches because, since people like to get free information and find it useful, you will get more followers this way. Direct and abrupt marketing won’t give any great results because it will prove to be a turn off to your followers. Your first goal is proving that you care about and want to help your followers, not that you want to get them to give you money. Give them a nice impression of you by tweeting targeted knowledge and info that they can use immediately. So just be careful before shooting any promotional links to your followers, make sure you’re at the right stage.

If you want to see your sales increase you need to try to blend in to the crowd on Twitter (which isn’t very hard). Using inappropriate language, however, is no way to blend in. Always aim at maintaining proper language that can create a positive impression on your followers. New marketers tend to take this lightly but they don’t realize that it’s actually tarnishing their reputation. It is okay to be informal when you tweet; it is not okay to be vulgar. You want to try to be as personal as you can while staying professional–it is quite a balancing act. You could lose the followers you have and slow down new additions. The goal is to find a way to be polite, friendly, direct and decent all at the same time. The way your followers view you is very important because that is what will determine how many sales you make.

Last but certainly not least: this very simple step does quite a bit to earn trust from your followers. While that is not exactly a revelation to some, there are still very many out there who simply do not know it. If you have had your business for just a few months, you may not know all you need to know especially if your time is very limited. Yes, you will probably not be able to use everything you read about, but the important thing is to bookmark it in your mind for possible future use. Definitely get in the habit of looking for opportunities and not necessarily with business opportunities; we are talking about marketing hybrids that can be created and used.

Be social on Twitter

One of the easiest Twitter tips to follow is to be as social as you can be. The Twitter community is completely made up of people who want to have conversations, learn things from each other and get new ideas about things. The more social you are, the more you contribute to the total purpose of Twitter which is to build relationships and create a common ground on which people can communicate.

This also helps you look like a real person who can be trusted by the people who follow you. This is nothing better than being involved with your target audience and giving them something that they can use much the same way that friends do for each other.

To conclude: the mistakes outlined in this article are very easy to avoid and the only reason people make them is because they don’t take action to avoid them. If you are smart you will keep an eye out for mistakes like these so that you can avoid them. Did you see the possibilities for what can be done in your web business? There are a finite number of internet marketing methods, but each one has such a variety of applications that things begin to multiply very quickly. We tend to think the majority of small business owners become complacent and especially once they begin earning decent profits. The history of the net is full of all kinds of stories, and the dangers from getting lazy are very real and not to be taken lightly.
