'Glee' Stars Stayed Up All Night For 'Thriller' Cover

'It was probably one of the most physical numbers that we've ever done,' Cory Monteith says.

When "Glee" returns from hiatus in the high-profile post-Super Bowl slot, it's returning in a big way, covering Michael Jackson's "Thriller." On Tuesday, the cast spoke to "Access Hollywood" about remaking the iconic tune, which will reportedly be mashed up with another yet-to-be-revealed hit.

"It was a huge production. We we're shooting that until 6:30 in the morning," Cory Monteith told "AH" at the Television Critics Association press tour. "We shot all night, and it was probably one of the most physical numbers that we've ever done. I was lifting Naya Rivera at one point in the dance. It was really active. We had the whole USC band wrapped in to this number as you can see in the photos. It was awesome."

Photos of the cast filming "Thriller" surfaced on the Internet recently, depicting a prom night-turned-zombie affair. Jackson's tune is just one of the many hits to be covered in the broadcast. Other songs featured in the post-Super Bowl episode include hits by the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum.

Kevin McHale revealed that Jackson is his "favorite artist ever" and that he has been continuously requesting to cover a tune by the late King of Pop. "I've been pushing very obnoxiously for a very, very long time, so I'm beyond thrilled that we do Michael Jackson," said the actor.

Like the iconic music video, the "Glee" cover was an extravagant production, which was fitting for star Dianna Agron, who couldn't help smile throughout filming.

"The whole night, everybody kept saying, 'Why are you laughing so much? Why are you smiling so much?' " she said. "I was just in my element. I was in huge makeup, huge hair, huge costume, the stuff that I loved the most, which is why I loved 'Rocky [Horror Picture Show]' so much."

Matthew Morrison isn't in the number, but he watched it being shot. "We actually shot it, like, a couple nights ago," Morrison told "AH." "I actually went out to see it. We shot it in Long Beach and at a high school that we used their football field at. It was stunning. It's so weird with this show. We keep outdoing ourselves. It's like, 'What is there left to do?' This number is just fantastic."

What other MJ songs do you want the "Glee" cast to tackle? Share your ideas in the comments!

'American Idol' Brings The Pressure On Group Night

Early favorites Jacee Badeaux, Brett Loewenstern, Lauren Alaina survive, while other hopefuls went down in flames.
By Gil Kaufman

Group night on "American Idol" is notoriously brutal. It's full of attitude, fighting, ragged nerves and exhaustion. And that's just from the audience at home watching the ridiculous diva behavior onscreen.

But after pulling an all-nighter, a number of this year's picks to click, including teens Jacee Badeaux and Lauren Alaina, as well Chris Medina, James Durbin, Brett Loewenstern and Chelsee Oaks, survived to sing another day, while some early favorites went down in flames, unable to handle the pressure.

On Wednesday night's (February 16) show, producers figured they'd up the ante this year on the contestants by telling them, after they'd already formed their groups, that they must be comprised of a mix of singers from day one and day two of last week's Hollywood eliminations. That sent the 168 remaining wannabes scrambling to rework their sets.

The first two segments were devoted to showing the high school lunchroom nightmare of singers desperate to find someone's group to join and facing heart-crushing rejection at every turn. Then, with just 10 hours to perfect their songs amid the din of nearly 170 voices roaring at once, contestants grabbed any space they could, from bathrooms to parking garages, and got to work.

The pressure almost claimed the fragile Ashley Sullivan, who came close to leaving the show, while 15-year-old Jacee Badeaux was booted from his group in the middle of the night and several other singers either got dumped or bailed on their ensembles at the 11th hour. On the verge of breaking up because they couldn't find a day-two person, redheaded bullied belter Brett Loewenstern's quartet was saved when they picked up Badeaux.

When the singers finally got a chance to, well, sing, there were plenty of new or little-seen faces who shone. Among them were New Jersey auditioner and makeup artist Pia Toscano, 22, who did her sultry best on Bruno Mars' "Grenade" in a trio that got the day started off right with yeses all around.

Male diva Jordan Dorsey bailed on his group to join up with Robbie Rosen and sing a doo-wop version of the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back," setting up an intense rivalry with his old cohorts, but getting sweet revenge by moving on. His old pals, though, survived the breakup as well by nailing Cee Lo Green's "Forget You."

Nobody wanted to be in a group with overconfident Tiffany Rios the night before, so the judges allowed her an exception to form a duo with tattooed blonde Jessica Yantz. "It was really bad," Randy Jackson said, though, after the pair made a hot mess of Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable."

It couldn't all be good news, as acts like Spanglish mangled Mars' "Just the Way You Are," with just two out of the four getting a pass, while Lauren Alaina's quartet asked Steven Tyler onto the stage to serenade him with Grand Funk Railroad's "Some Kind of Wonderful," buttering up the shy rocker by letting him add some of his signature yelps to their tune. Lopez dubbed their idea "cute," but in the end only Alaina made the cut.

Paris Tassin, 23, has the look and appeared to have the vocals and the story — she's the mother of a special-needs daughter — but her iffy take on Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)" flamed out. Also tanking were quirky San Francisco redhead Emily Ann Reed, bartender Alyson Jados and Aaron Gutierrez, whose brother Mark got the thumbs-up.

While Sullivan had struggled earlier, the 26-year-old pulled it together and put some girl-group sass into Blu Cantrell's "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)." "It was a little pitchy here and there, right," Randy said. "But all in all, you held it together and I must say you guys were the best harmonized group I've seen," meaning her whole crew made it.

Tourette sufferer James Durbin brought out his best Adam Lambert impression again for Queen's "Somebody to Love," but was saddled with some fellow singers whose energy and vocals were totally flat. And whereas his sky-high falsetto wails were charming before, the judges cringed a bit this time around. "The harmonies were almost painful, really guys it was like a bad 'Glee' audition," Lopez said, giving Durbin one more chance while sending most of his pals home.

With a bit too much help from their stage moms, the Minors angered Durbin and his cohorts, but the five teens brought some gospel soul to the same Queen ballad, earning a standing ovation from the judges and the other contestants. "This is what I joined forces with 'American Idol' to hear," Tyler gushed. "That was as good as it gets," he added, and needless to say Keonna Evans (16), Jalen Harris (15), Sarina-Joi Crowe (15), Felix Ramsey (15) and Deandre Brackensick (16) passed through.

The Night Owls made the gutsy move to sing a cappella, and their doo-wop cover of the Temptations' "Get Ready" got a thumbs-up for Julie Zorrilla, and blues belter Casey Abrams, but not for the rest. They were followed by a second group who forsook the band and covered the same song, but with more intricate choreography and more daring vocals.

Naima Adedapo got the least amount of shine in the gospel-tinged version of the Motown classic, but still lived another day. "It showed style, creativity ... every little bit of it was beautiful," Tyler said, giving props to Jacob Lusk, 23, for wrapping things up with an offbeat vocal flair that sounded like a car engine grinding to a halt and got the judges to sit up and take notice.

One of the season's most touching stories belonged to Chris Medina, who was paired with singing waitress Devyn Rush and charismatic actor Carson Higgins, all of whom brought some attitude to "Forget You." Randy thought Rush was too scream-y and Higgins was entertaining, and in the end he put the whole team through ... except for Rush.

When it was finally Jacee and Brett's group's turn to take the stage, Sugar Mama and the Babies did a soulful take on Adele's "Mercy," with Loewenstern killing it and a nervous Badeaux forgetting the lyrics and expertly vamping about not wanting to go home. Randy told the teen he looked a bit lost and Jacee explained how he was booted from his original crew at the last minute and had never heard the song before, but it turned out to be no problem since they all got another chance.

Baritone country crooner Scotty McCreery sounded a bit out of place trying to put a twang on "Get Ready," but bespectacled karaoke DJ Clint Jun Gamboa bailed him out with some gritty wailing that bought another day for the entire quartet.

The final group of the day featured Rob Bolin and his ex, Chelsee Oaks, singing with one-half of the dashed "Idol" power couple, Jacqueline Dunford, who had struggled mightily all night to find their footing. Oaks' vocals were flat and her choreography was sloppy, while Dunford was even worse and Bolin completely blew his chance by vamping about how tired he was and not remembering any of the lyrics.

In the end it was Bolin who was sent packing, while the ladies moved on, proving for the one millionth time that you MUST REMEMBER THE LYRICS!!!!!!

On Thursday night, the final 100 sing solo, with only 50 advancing to next week's first-ever Las Vegas round.

On the East Coast, revenue streams are slowly rising as banks are still cratering and trying to recover from the recession. But out West, money ain't a thing, as Jermaine Dupri and Jay-Z once rapped.

Forbes has released their list of Hollywood's 20 Highest Earners of 2010, with Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus among those rubbing elbows with the likes of power players like Oprah Winfrey.

The venerable talk-show host topped the list with a whopping $315 million haul. Winfrey's earnings were generated for the most part by her multimedia deals, which include a syndication deal for her TV show, a magazine and her soon-to-be-launched network.

"Avatar" creator James Cameron came in second, more than $100 million behind Winfrey, with a tally of $210 million. Director and playwright Tyler Perry ($125 million), blockbuster movie producer Michael Bay ($120 million) and golfer Tiger Woods ($105 million) rounded out the top five.

Beyoncé was the only pop star to break the top 10. The "Single Ladies" superstar landed at #9, sandwiched between George Lucas and Dr. Phil. Mrs. Carter, whose hubby, Jay-Z, was named Hip-Hop's Cash King by Forbes in August with a tally of $63 million, pulled down $87 million over the past 12 months.

The blond-haired trio of Britney Spears ($64 million), Lady Gaga ($62 million) and Madonna ($58 million) made their mark on the list at numbers 13, 14 and 15, respectively.

Pop tarts Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift capped the list. The young stars placed at 18 and 19 on the list, with Disney star Cyrus pocketing $48 million, and country singer Swift depositing $45 million into her bank account.

Hollywood's 20 highest-earning men and women of 2010, according to Forbes:

1. Oprah Winfrey, $315 million
2. James Cameron, $210 million
3. Tyler Perry, $125 million
4. Michael Bay, $120 million
5. Tiger Woods, $105 million
6. Jerry Bruckheimer, $100 million
7. Steven Spielberg, $100 million
8. George Lucas, $95 million
9. Beyoncé, $87 million
10. Dr. Phil, $80 million
11. Simon Cowell, $80 million
12. Jerry Seinfeld, $75 million
13. Britney Spears, $64 million
14. Lady Gaga, $62 million
15. Madonna, $58 million
16. Sandra Bullock, $56 million
17. Ellen DeGeneres, $55 million
18. Miley Cyrus, $48 million
19. Taylor Swift, $45 million
20. Judge Judy Sheindlin, $45 million

Grammy Red Carpet Fashion: Eggs, Spots And Lots Of Sparkle

Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and others rock stand-out looks on Sunday night.

Lady Gaga's egg aside, there was a lot of glamour on the Grammy red carpet on Sunday night (February 13). Between the dazzling whites and animal prints, the stars turned up their fashion game for the big show in Los Angeles.

Check out photos of Lady Gaga's arrival and the rest of the Grammy red carpet.

Florence and the Machine's Florence Welch hit the carpet early in a white, partially sheer gypsy-esque gown by Givenchy, complete with swan detailing. Paramore leading lady Hayley Williams showed off her fire-engine red hair with a '60s silhouette that included a black sequined dress with hot-pink trim and black tights by Jeremy Scott.

Nicki Minaj did her own thing in a leopard print Givenchy dress with matching tights, shoes and even a beehive, Marie Antoinette-inspired wig with spots. "I'm also wearing kick-ass attitude," Minaj told MTV News hosts Snooki and Sway on the carpet. Perhaps stealing from Nicki Minaj's wardrobe cues, Swizz Beatz also wore all-black with a leopard jacket.

Katy Perry donned an iridescent Armani dress with angel wings, beads along the bust and cut-out detailing. Hubby Russell Brand and Katy's 90-year-old grandmother, Anne, were also wearing silver outfits designed by Armani. Perry's good pal Rihanna hit the carpet with her fiery hair looking shorter but still edgy in a white tulle gown with tiered ruffles by Jean Paul Gaultier that left little to the imagination.

It was all-black everything for some of the guys. Drake looked fancy in a black tuxedo with black shirt and black bow tie. Like Drake, Adam Lambert hit the carpet in black, wearing a low-cut black button-down with a black tuxedo that had leather details on the collar.

Justin Bieber looked white-hot in an all-white tuxedo with black bow tie and pocket square; he completed the look with white kicks. His gal pal Selena Gomez looked ultra-glam in a body-hugging J. Mendel lingerie-style silver gown. Gomez's fellow Disney star Miley Cyrus looked equally glittering (and newly blonde) in a skin-tight silver gown by Roberto Cavalli that she wore with lots of bangles. Kim Kardashian, who walked the carpet with brother Rob, opted for gold instead of silver in a low-cut, golden halter gown with a thigh-high slit by Kaufman Franco.

Which Grammy red carpet look was your favorite? Tell us in the comments!

Ke$ha Says She's 'Disappointed' By Grammy Snub

'I plan on making a lot more records, and hopefully one of them will be Grammy-worthy,' singer tells Vanity Fair.

Last year was full of breakout music stars, including Ke$ha, who ruled the scene with a string of dance-pop hits (and a massive overflow of glitter). But not everyone is a Ke$ha fan: The singer was snubbed when the 2011 Grammy nominees were announced in December.

The starlet recently spoke to Vanity Fair about the Grammy snub and said she's determined to score a nod sometime later in her career. And after calling the Recording Academy's award "not that big a deal," Ke$ha admitted that she was saddened by her lack of nominations.

"Of course I do," the singer said when asked if she wanted a Grammy. "I was disappointed that I didn't get nominated. But I've only been around for a year. I'm friends with the Black Keys, and they were nominated for the first time this year. And they've been around for a decade. That's like half my life, so I really can't be a brat about it."

Ke$ha isn't bitter about the situation either, telling the magazine, "I plan on making a lot more records, and hopefully one of them will be Grammy-worthy."

While she may not be gearing up for the big show on Sunday night, Ke$ha is prepping for the launch of her first North American headlining tour, the Get $leazy Tour. The country-wide trek is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday in Portland, Oregon, and continue through May.

Do you think Ke$ha deserved a Grammy nomination? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Jaime Pressly Opens Up About DUI and Divorce

JaimePresslyOpensUpAboutDUIandDivorce

Jaime Pressly says she just had a bad month.

The former My Name is Earl actress, 33, was arrested on January 6 (and is now being prosecuted) for driving under the influence. Then on January 21, Pressly filed for divorce from Simran Singh, her husband of less than two years. But Pressly denies that she's in any kind of downward spiral. In a new interview with Extra, she describes the DUI and the divorce as "isolated incidents." Watch video of the interview below!

Pressly says that she felt the need to speak up for the sake of her 3-year-old son, Dezi (whose father is Pressly's ex-boyfriend DJ Eric Calvo).

"The thing that's out there that's hurt me the most is comments about me being a mother to my son Dezi," she says. "When I hear statements made that are so ridiculously unkind and untrue, it breaks my heart, because I don't ever want my son to grow up and read all these false statements."

While the actress says that she takes responsibility for her mistakes, she also defends her track record, saying that this is her first tabloid scandal in 16 years of show business.

"I've watched so many people make mistakes and never wanted to be that person, because when you're in the public eye, it's really difficult to right wrongs," she says of the DUI. "(But) I'm also human. I never claimed to be perfect."

As for the divorce, the actress says it's unconnected to the DUI; she just rushed into marriage too quickly, and it didn't work out.

"Life happens. Everybody is okay, and it is what it is," she says. "There's nothing more to it."

Pressly has pleaded not guilty to drunk driving, despite having an extremely high blood alcohol level at the time of her arrest. She faces up to six months in county jail if convicted.

Do you think Jaime Pressly is telling the truth about her DUI and her divorce being unrelated? Chime in below!

'Eagle' Star Jamie Bell Talks Channing Tatum, Horseplay

'It was no contest,' Bell boasts to MTV News about besting co-star Tatum in horseback riding for the period flick.
By Kara Warner

Judging by posters and trailers for the upcoming swords-and-sandals flick "The Eagle" alone, it seems that one of the key factors that led stars Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell to sign up for the Roman warrior action adventure was the opportunity to play: from swinging swords to riding horses.

However, when MTV News spoke to Bell as he promoted "The Eagle," the actor revealed that there was actually a lot of work behind all that horseplay (pun intended!).

"It was a very kind of challenging approach to a film," Bell said about learning to ride a horse and speak in a new language for his role as Briton slave Esca before production began. "There was a lot to be done before we even got to set. So, in that regard, all of the prep was actually the hardest thing," he explained.

Bell added that although horseback riding was the most difficult, he grew to love his furry companion.

"I was actually really sad to see the horse go, to be honest," Bell admitted. "I had the fastest horse as well, I want to point that out."

He went on to say that he discovered his steed's speed on one of the very few occasions that he and Tatum were allowed to gallop with their horses.

"At one occasion they were like, 'All right guys, you can go full pedal to the metal. It's flat ground. It's really good for the horses. You'll be fine; have at it.' It was no contest," Bell bragged. "I was just whoooshh! I was gone. Channing's horse was having a bit of trouble," he said with a smile.

Check out everything we've got on "The Eagle."
