Slimming After 40

DietSupplementstoLoseWeight Slimming Supplements:
Everyone knows that fat seems to begin piling on once you reach 40. It may not be so noticeable at first, but then it starts to snowball. By 50 you’re wondering what happened. Not only is it unwanted fat, but lots of it seems to be around the middle and is very hard to shed. Diet, exercise, and even resorting to diet aids in the form of drugs and herbs don’t seem to help.

Understanding what’s happening might help you. You have to know your enemy before you do effective battle. First of all, and most importantly, your metabolism changes as you age. Although you may not think of 40 as ageing, your body does start to make adjustments and it doesn’t happen all at once the day you retire. It’s a gradual process.

Fat cells are like balloons. They are pliable and can grow. Feeding the fat cells more fat is what causes them to expand. Like balloons, they will pop when they exceed their capacity. They aren’t just gone when that happens, unfortunately. They divide and multiply. Once they multiply they are there for good. That’s why it’s important to catch your middle age weight gain before it gets worse.

Women typically have more fat cells than men do, making it more difficult for women to lose them. Genetics also plays a part in where the fat cells accumulate in greatest numbers. After 40, the average weight gain is one pound per year. That means you’ll have an average of 20 pounds in excess weight by the time you reach 60.

The extra weight puts stress on your joints, your heart, and your entire body. When the excess fat is accumulated around your midsection it is a particularly dangerous situation. That type of fat is not only unsightly, it is a different type of fat called visceral fat. This type literally wraps itself around your heart, liver, stomach, and other vital organs. It causes LDL cholesterol to form and make its way into your bloodstream, causing the formation of plaque and narrowing of the arteries.

Carrying the kind of fat that grows with you as you age is a health risk. It, along with your slowed metabolism, slows you down. It’s somewhat like a vicious circle. Your metabolism slows, causing more fat to build, causing you to slow down, which creates more fat, etc, etc. It’s important to break the cycle and remain active. Weight loss will help you to feel more energetic and healthier overall.

Getting A Good Night’s Sleep

“There are several things you can do to establish a healthy sleeping routine.”

ProductstohelpyousleepBIOVEA Sleep Products: Getting a good night’s sleep can make the difference between having a productive day and feeling sluggish all day long. Poor sleep can cause you to experience headaches, mild depression, aches and pains, and even more serious symptoms such as weight gain and heart issues.

It’s not easy to get to sleep just because it’s bedtime. Lying awake for a good portion of the night or waking a few hours into the night unable to return to sleep can cause you to feel sleep deprived and foggy. When it happens night after night, the problem can become more than just an annoyance.

Things to Avoid to Help Get a Good Night’s Sleep

PromotesHealthySleepPatterns

Melatonin 1mg 360 Capsules BONUS PACK

There are some things you just should not do before you retire. As temped as you may be to nap during the day, try to avoid it as it may prevent you from feeling tired at night. Don’t exercise within 4 hours of your bedtime. It stimulates your nerves and interferes with your sleep timing. Don’t watch television, read, or work in your bed. Never pay bills in bed. The bed should signify to your body that it is a place for sleep.

Certain foods and drinks tend to interrupt your sleep cycles and keep you from a normal sleep cycle. Save coffee, tea, and other caffeinated drinks for morning and afternoon. Alcohol, although it appears to make you relaxed and sleepy feeling, helps you to fall asleep, but causes you to awaken in the night. Nicotine in cigarettes inhibits your ability to sleep well.

Things You Can Do for a Good Night’s Sleep

Just as there are those things you should avoid, there are several things you can do to establish a routine and get your body adjusted to sleep all night. Take a hot bath an hour and a half before bed. It will raise, then lower, your body temperature. Lowered body temperature helps you to sleep. Keep your bedroom cool and pile on the blankets. Wear a set of earplugs if you are noise sensitive. White noise tapes or machines work well, too.

Have a light snack before you go to bed. Don’t eat heavy foods, but a glass of warm milk, dairy products, or turkey contain a substance that will help you sleep. Trying to sleep when you are hungry could keep you awake.

In the morning, get up and go outside for 15 minutes to help set your body clock. Sun is a natural signal that your biological clock will respond to. Another helpful suggestion is to explore the herbal remedies for difficulty in sleeping. Melatonin and St. John’s Wort are two possibilities, but consult with your health care professional for advice.

B Vitamins Have Important Functions

The common B Vitamins have many functions throughout the body and brain.

NutritionalVitaminSupplementsBIOVEA Health and Beauty Products – Vitamin Products: The vitamins we take in all have different roles and work together to form good health. The set of B vitamins are critical to several functions and our general sense of well being. Vitamin B1, Thiamin; Vitamin B2, Riboflavin; Vitamin B3, Niacin or Niacinamide; Vitamin B6, Pyridoxine; and Vitamin B12, Cobalamin are the set of B vitamins that can be taken to help reduce disease, aid digestion, reduce stress, build healthy blood cells, and improve our general attitude.

  1. Vitamin B1, also known as Thiamin, is known for increased circulation and improved digestion. This helps to produce better muscle tone and works as an antioxidant. This vitamin may alleviate feelings of fatigue, mental fuzziness, and poor circulation. Without adequate B1 you may lose your appetite, feel weak or tired, and have digestive problems and weight loss.
  2. Vitamin B2, known as Riboflavin, helps to produce healthy red blood cells that aid respiration and antibodies. The eyes will not as likely grow tired or get cataracts, and oxygenation can help to eliminate migraines, dry mouth and lips, and helps to keep the adrenaline supply at a good level. Deficiency in Riboflavin can result in itchy eyes that burn, dermatitis, oily skin, sluggish feelings, and digestive problems.
  3. Vitamin B3, Niacin, is known to help dilate the blood vessels, creating better circulation and can help lower blood pressure. It’s good for regulating blood sugar, reducing migraines, and stimulating sex drive. Without it you might experience disturbances in your digestive system, headaches, depression, achy joints, poor appetite, weakness, and bad breath.
  4. Vitamin B6, or Pyridoxine, is instrumental in preventing heart disease as it is known as an inhibitor of homocystine, which commonly attacks the heart muscle. Cholesterol can then form and affect the heart. The central nervous system needs B6 for normal function, and it can help to relieve migraines and nausea. B6 also promotes healthy red blood cells that can aid in immune system defenses and help ward off cancer. Drinking alcohol is known to deplete the supply of B6 in the body.
  5. The presence of Vitamin B12, Cobalamin, is also helpful in preventing anemia as it aids the production of red blood cells. Digestion depends on it and cells remain healthy when it is present in the blood. Loss of B12 can manifest itself in feelings of fatigue, hallucinations, mood swings, nervousness and headaches, and the need to binge eat, which can increase unwanted weight.

The Hormone Progesterone

The hormone progesterone is incredibly useful in a woman’s body.

Women'sHealth-ProgesteroneBIOVEA- Women’s Health: The hormone progesterone is incredibly useful in a woman’s body. It has so many health benefits, in fact, that they are almost too numerous to list here. The sad truth is that by age 35, which is well before the menopausal years have begun, the progesterone levels have begun to drop off significantly enough to begin to cause health issues and discomfort.

The reason the levels drop off at that time is that the ovaries stop making it like they once did. This is why it becomes more challenging for women to become pregnant at that point in time. The curious thing about this is that it was not present in earlier times. Women continued to produce progesterone naturally until 35 or so in times past, but today the levels begin to significantly drop off in the late twenties. They continue to ovulate, have periods as usual, and are otherwise just as healthy as could be expected.

TheNaturalMenopauseSolution

PROGESTERONE CREAM (2.14 oz) 70g by BIOVEA®

One of the things that drop off along with the production level of progesterone is the ability of the body to fight off breast cancer. It is known to help protect the body from developing cancer cells. While estrogen promotes breast cancer, the natural balance is that progesterone counteracts it to protect from it. When the progesterone levels are low but the estrogen levels are high, it is not hard to see why there might be a more frequent occurrence of breast cancer among those in the 35 and up age group.

Replacing the progesterone that you may be losing through aging and other factors affecting our lifestyles today might be a very good idea. While you are losing what you would otherwise normally produce, counterbalancing the effects of estrogen production becomes very difficult when there is little or no progesterone being made as it was in younger years. It is still needed until menopause at the least, but with so many continuing to lack it, the problems are evident.

More younger women are suffering from things that only affected those ten or more years older in the past. The answer could just be the artificial replacement of progesterone. The natural type would work best, of course, so if you look for a replacement that you can take look for a natural product. Don’t take just any product and be sure to do a little research before you take anything new. Contact your health professional for more information.

Improve Your Posture for Better Back Health

Good posture can be instrumental in helping to keep your back and spine healthy and pain free.

JointHealthandRemediesBIOVEA – Joint Care: Improving your posture can go a long way toward easing some of your back pain woes. One of the complaints doctors hear most is about the aching back. It’s possible that if your back hurts, your posture has something to do with it. There are other reasons, of course, but keeping a good posture can truly help no matter what the problem may be.

The back is a long series of joints, all connected together. They are aligned, or should be, and when we stress the spinal column with bad posture our back is bound to hurt. Doing a series of simple exercises and using a mirror to check your alignment can help.

Look in the mirror to see whether your hips, shoulders, and ears are in alignment. When they line up, your spine will take its natural curvature. The spine itself should not be kept straight, as there are two curves; one in the lower back and one at the neck. Maintaining these curves at all times will be the most comfortable position for your back.

“Alignment of your ears, shoulders, and hips is important and
exercise can keep it that way.”

HelpsMaintainHealthyJoints

Exercise will help, too. Simple stretches and upper body arm motions are easy and just about anyone can do them. The ‘cat’ stretch is one done on all fours. Slowly curve your back up, and then down in the opposing direction. Stretch your neck by tilting it forward, backward, and to each side slowly.

Upper body arm exercises can be done at your desk, while waiting for your toast, or while standing up to stretch and take a look out the window. Placing your elbows at your sides, touch your shoulders, and make sure your ears are in alignment with your shoulders. Raise your elbows on each side, and then lower them. Repeat for about 30 seconds.

Another upper arm exercise starts with aligning your ears over your shoulders, and then raising your arms straight upward until they touch your ears. Touch your shoulder blades, keeping your ears aligned at all times. Do this 10 times, then use each arm one at a time and do each 10 times.

Remember to always keep your ears, hips, and shoulders in line. Use this guideline whether you are standing, sitting, or walking. Yoga is excellent for the posture, as are other dance and movement classes. Keeping your posture as close to natural as you can will help to improve any problems you are having, and to avoid any further complications.

Green Tea and Slimming Down

DietsupplementstoloseweightSlimming Supplements: You’ve seen the ads. They claim that green tea is the next new miracle in weight loss. Could it be true? Green tea, and any tea, really, has properties that will aid you in losing weight. There’s a natural boost that occurs when you drink green tea, which gives you a bit of energy, which in turn makes you feel like moving. Movement is the key to healthy weight loss.

Tea helps to speed up metabolism. That’s good for burning off your calories. If your metabolism is running at its optimum rate that means the food you eat will be burned off in a reasonable time. As long as you are eating healthy foods, your body will absorb the vitamins and minerals and then burn off the excess.

Green tea contains a substance called polyphenols or catechins. These substances can help your body to decrease its body fat and burn calories. Sugars are blocked and the fat is oxidized. Four kinds of catechins are present in green tea. The most significant one for the weight loss process is called EGCG and is capable of changing the way your hormones respond to appetite. You won’t feel like eating so much.

“f your metabolism is running at its optimum rate that means the food you eat will be burned off in a reasonable time.”

GreenTea

GREEN TEA 500mg 60 Capsules

Brown fat tissue is an active type of body fat and is the kind you’ll burn off in a good weight loss programme Green tea contains noradrenalin, which is the chemical transmitter that signals your brain to activate the brown fats. Other catechins include the one that helps to power you up with energy for your workouts. The carbs you are eating will be released slowly so there is no spike in glucose levels. One cup per day is a good start to adding green tea to your weight loss programme. Move slowly up to the point where you are drinking about 4 cups per day, where you’ll get the optimum effects.

Drinking a cup of green tea several minutes before eating a meal changes the way the body processes the carbohydrates. Insulin rise is slowed, which reduces the fat building in the carbohydrates.

Green tea has other health benefits besides weight loss. It is also known to help lower your cholesterol and enhance your overall good health. Antioxidants present in the tea are cancer fighters and there are anti-ageing properties to green tea as well.

Teens Need More Sleep Than Adults

“Encourage healthy sleep habits whenever possible and you may see a difference in their ability to cope with daily life.”

ProductstohelpyousleepBIOVEA Sleep Products: The sleep patterns of the age group most likely to get little or interrupted sleep is interestingly upside down. The ages between 12 and 25 years have been found to need more sleep than those of older age groups, but many get far less instead.

The National Sleep Foundation recently did a study focused on the sleep patterns of teens and adolescents as related to issues that affect them. Driving drowsy and inability to focus while learning or working are just two potential hazards of getting less sleep than one needs.

MELATONIN3mg60Capsules

MELATONIN 3mg 60 Capsules

Automobile accidents that are caused by sleepiness involve those under age 25 about half of the time. This is when compared to all other age groups of drivers. Those in the under 25 group have other focus issues that are potentially dangerous as well. Since 1500 people are killed in drowsy driving accidents each year in America alone, this is something that should be addressed and improved upon.

The danger of driving or operating machinery or equipment while sleepy and unable to react appropriately is not the only danger in living on less sleep than you need. Young adults are usually engaged in the learning process, either in high schools or colleges or are involved in trade training schools. The learning curve is prevalent in this age group and they need to be sharp and with their brains functioning on all cylinders. When sleep is lacking, the ability to absorb and retain information is not occurring at the desired and optimum levels.

Part of the reason for lack of sleep in this vulnerable age group is the concept that they are invincible and can take on the world with hardly a wink of sleep. Not true, of course, but without guidance to the contrary, it is all too common. Nights spent texting friends with their cell phones in bed, staying up to post on social media sites, and playing games with online competitors, or doing intense amounts of study for finals, are all potential causes for too little rest.

“Driving drowsy and inability to focus while learning or working are just two potential hazards of getting less sleep than one needs.”

The younger children in the 12-25 age group are, of course, still growing and must take in proper rest and nutrition so their bodies will grow properly. This may be the last thing your newly and fiercely independent teen wants to hear from you no matter how true it may be. Encourage healthy sleep habits whenever possible and you may see a difference in their ability to cope with daily life.

Amino Acids and Anti-Ageing

Amino acids are one way to help yourself in the battle of the ages.

BIOVEA-AminoAcidsandAgingBIOVEA – Anti-Ageing Products: Everyone wants to look and feel younger, but how is that possible? If you reach a certain age you are exactly that age in years and there is nothing you can do about the chronological aspect. But there is a great deal you can do to slow the ageing process of your physical body and your mind.

Amino acids are one way to help yourself in the battle of the ages. Where the physical body is concerned they are helpful in maintaining skin tone, avoiding clogging of the arteries, promoting growth of cells, and more. Mentally, amino acids can be helpful in the slowing of deterioration of mind and memory function which is common in ageing, but can be prevented.

L-Cysteine is one of those amino acids that aids in the prevention of cancers and heart disease.

Immune system balance is another advantage of taking in cysteine. It is found naturally in broccoli, soy, Brussels sprouts, and dairy. It is useful in promoting metabolization of our foods and the fat in our diets.

TheThreeMostPowerfulAntioxidantPackedSuperBerriesintheWorld

SUPER ANTIOXIDANT BERRY PACK

L-Leucine found in protein rich foods such as eggs and red meats is quite useful in the repair and regrowth process of cells. Healing depends on it. When we age, the reason our small injuries are more important than when we were young is that we are unable to regrow and repair our bodies at the cellular level due to ageing and a reduction of natural L-Leucine present in our systems. Therefore, supplementing the diet with this amino acid is helpful in healing from any number of illnesses and injuries.

Arginine occurs in beans, nuts, fish, and eggs, all known to be high in their protein content. Heart related troubles can be helped with the appropriate amounts of arginine in the system. Cholesterol can potentially be lowered according to some reports and thus there could be a reduction in the likelihood of heart attack or stroke. Circulation is best when the arteries are plaque free. For the younger set, arginine can improve the production of sperm.

Healthy diets consist of adequate amounts of amino acids naturally, but many people find it difficult to maintain a diet that contains enough of these nutrients on a daily and consistent basis. If that’s the case in your household, you might consider the use of supplements to be sure that you are getting enough of these wondrous elements that stop the clock on ageing.
