It depends on your mentality as
to how fierce you would like to be. In the current times, you may
be pressed with severe fines under stern laws if your dog creates a
nuisance or raw bite. Thus, it is absolutely important that you
keep your dog under check. Some liberty may be allowed inside the
household but none outside. A
dog training
collar helps your dog get in tune with your demands in clear
terms. You may go for pinch collars that nail them somewhat on
erring. Chokers also come in handy when they get off hand. You can
also use vibration collars to make them feel an uneasy sensation
whenever they are up to some mischief. In olden days, people used
to teach their dogs with collars and a corresponding bell. Dogs can
be made to react in certain manner through tuning of bells or dog
whistles. Like, if you ring it once, dog will know that food is
ready. If twice, it is time for bath and if thrice, it is time for
lessons. You can keep a few dog collars for different times. The
impact of a
dog training collar should have some
meaning for them. An element of fear is necessary to keep them in
fine fettle. Even the fiercest dog hates the proposition of a prong
collar on its neck. You can also associate colors with treatment.
Light color will mean easy time while dark ones time for
punishment. They catch these directives by intuition in the same
way as a cat learns to catch mice. You can also indulge in slight
aversion training for your dog. If you hate any of your dog?s
activity the most, make it avert that with the promise of real bad
days ahead if it repeats the act. No one relishes being shut up in
an iron cage. Periodic shutting will make it learn manners pretty
fast. Just remember that they will habitually pull on their collars
eventually tightening it. Thus, ensure that the hold won?t be too
strangling. Comfort level is of premium importance. Nylon clip-ons
work effectively in this regard. A
dog training collar is only a means of
controlling your dog, not terrorizing them. Under severe scenes,
you may also use shock collars or an electronic
dog training
collar. A slight pang of electricity will make it behave
meekly and fast. Making them starve for food for three-quarter days
will also have immediate effect.

Often, you may have read the
exploits of sleuth dogs or wolfhounds. There is a manner of
training such dogs. Their natural instincts should never be curbed;
just shown the right direction. You may make a start with your dog
through
training collars for dogs. For starters, get a nice
breed dog. While stray dogs will reflect on your human element, it
won?t be quite useful protection-wise. Doberman, Retrievers and
others of their kinds are easy to train. However, they won?t
succumb easily to your wishes. If you have looked after it from
puppy stage, then that is a different issue. A couple of pats or
caresses make your dog enjoy your company. Yet, never lose focus on
the fact that your dog should not feel like it is a master of its
own life. If it happens to get wild at frequent intervals, a couple
of sessions with prong collars or shock collars will help. Shock
collars in particular are great silencers since they send shock
waves through their body, which they of course don?t appreciate.
Typical
training collars for dogs like lighted
collars or shock collars have different uses. While the first makes
your dog visible even in darkness, the latter will keep it in nice
spirits for fear of shocks. Slip collars with a tight noose will
make them behave kindly, otherwise the noose will tighten. Nylon
clip-ons also keep your dog on a leash. You should make a periodic
appointment with your vet. If your dog is ill or is undergoing
bodily changes, make it feel free. During mating season, they get
naturally violent. Also, puppies should be treated with utmost
care. They should beget fatherly love from you so that it dotes on
your love and appreciates your periodic punishments. You should
also fit them with flea-repellants for they absolutely loathe
fleas.
Training collars for dogs should also convey to
them that they should not go out of boundaries. Knowledge of fences
or barricades should be infused in them. They should be taught not
to cross these barriers. Some fences are electric, and they should
be made to differentiate between different fences. They should also
learn to associate different collars with behaviors. For instance,
a prong collar should mean that they remain quiet. Use
training
collars for dogs as an instrument that makes a man out of your
dog. With certain skills, love and a little restraint, you will
succeed.

All sorts can begin training
their dogs through
training collars for dogs. Dogs do have limited
intelligence and the trick is to capitalize on that limitation.
Your dog is always willing to learn a few tricks, but it will not
learn that easily. Giving them the bait of an extra bone or special
biscuits will make them start. Ensure that even through harsh
means, they learn that there is a specific place for resting or
eating. They should learn to respect their space.
Training Collars for Dogs For All Situations
Hygiene is another strong factor, which will differentiate
your dog from stray dogs. They should enjoy their baths even if it
costs you periodic rewards. Give them ample time to play and roam
freely in your courtyard. Keep specific times for their leashing.
At those times, give them free movement of 4 to 5 feet. Use soft
training collars for dogs in these times like
buckle collars. If you cherish a hunting dog, first get a natural
hunting breed and then let them hunt small birds by showing them
the way. If you want a trick dog, teach it gentle tricks with the
fear of tough collars like prongs and shock collars. Slowly but
surely, they will come to terms that it is better to learn tricks
than get a shock wave.
Comfort Is A Must When Fitting Training Collars for Dogs
Comfort level of dogs should be kept at a premium while
placing these
training collars for dogs. They should not be
too taut on neck. Breakaway collars are great in that respect as
when your dog pulls, it will break free. With tight leashes, they
will not only incur neck wounds, but will also choke for breath.
You may use different colors for different collars so that dog gets
an impression as to what it is going to suffer from.
Can Puppies Use Training Collars for Dogs?
Be particularly easy on puppies. At that stage, they will pick
up tricks rather fast. Using prong or slip collars on them will be
inhuman. After an age, their bearing capacity increases and some
punishment is not bad. Use of muzzles or a cage also has quick-fire
effect on your dog. Take your dog to regular vet sessions and make
it feel that bad behavior will elicit an injection. Even if you are
a greenhorn trainer, you can do your job well with some instinct,
tricks and
training collars for dogs.

Behavior of dogs is
analogous to the family it stays with and can be improved with one
or more
dog training collars. One can assume the
traits of a family by reading into its pet dog. It thus becomes
essential to train your dog basic manners of behaving in a society
and otherwise. For the purpose of training your dog, you are
assisted by the ready availability of various sorts of dog training
collars. While quick-release buckle collars give your dog a nylon
feel on its neck and good mobility, breakaway collars will ensure
that it is not strangulated while evading dangers such as rival
dogs. In fact, some of the collars like stud collars have even
become a kind of fashion statement. Obviously, merely leashing dogs
with collars, which come in varied materials, won?t ensure good
manners on the part of your dog. You will have to innovate in terms
of rewarding your dog on treating a stranger well or not feeding it
its choice food when it is nasty at times. You should keep in mind
that your dog is a lively being and is vulnerable to joy,
depression and temper. There is way to teach your dog just as there
is one with humans. These collars are also effective in identifying
your dog. You can put in your own address as also the breed of your
dog on the collar. Slip collar is quite effective since its loop
can be tightened or loosened to reward or penalize your dog.
Dog
training collars benefit you immensely in the sense that with
their help, you can train your dog positively into whatever kind
you want it to be. It can be made polite if you want a homely dog;
or a curious and alert dog if you wish it to be a hunting sort.
These collars also instill a feeling of responsibility in them. The
problems that
dog training collars pose are that in many
cases, dogs become dependent on their collars and behave oddly when
free of their collars. Thus, you should be wise in ensuring that
they behave amiably even without their leashes. It is a time-taking
work and you will be required to spend some quality time with your
pet. Now, even electronic
dog training collars have
arrived and are remote controlled. Just care to remember that your
dogs are also human beings and should be given that freedom to act
according to their traits and be natural.

Even a small goad can calm a mad
elephant down. Thus, the system to calm a dog with a
dog training
collar shouldn?t be news. This collar also helps in changing a
dog?s attitude and morphing it to act according to your wishes. If
you have a silent household, you wouldn?t want a typically growling
dog. Special collars like prongs, chokers, Martingale can help
modulate their barking and even activities. A very vigorous dog can
be made steady by tightening the noose somewhat. You should also
attach a flea-repelling collar to keep fleas away. This will help
them from scratching and eventual rashes. Dogs, like other animals,
act on intuition rather than knowledge. A
dog training
collar can help fine-tune your dog?s reflexes. If they are
tempted to sniff strangers rather awkwardly, or drool over their
daily food, convey to them to do otherwise. For every worthy act of
theirs, such as performing a fine jump over fences or catching a
game bird, reward them with a nice cuddle or food. Likewise, for
every intrusion into an unwanted space of your home, pull the
collar just a little bit more or send shock waves. Sooner, they
will acquire a reflex as to how to behave. Even while strolling on
parks, they should be taught to behave in a consummate way. They
naturally move around hedges or jump at a frightened stranger. They
will also bark at the sight of other dogs. While the last bit
cannot be controlled, teach them caution through intelligent use of
collars. Halter-type collars will also cover their mouth, though
not restraining their capacity to pant or raise sweat through their
tongues. Aggressive dogs should be kept under halter collars in
periods. Paste your address and other details on the
dog training collar for a sure identification
mark. Make them friendly with their collars so that they themselves
relate with them in a positive way. Some dogs are habitually
obedient and it doesn?t take time to make them more so. For others,
you need to extract quality time out of your life in catering to
them. Every living being nourishes love as a very powerful emotion
and reacts to that with passion. No collar acts as efficiently as
that. Give a protective band around the
dog training
collar to ensure that it is not afflicted by harsh bites there
from other dogs. Also see to it that they are not getting choked
for breath.

You cannot teach old dog new
tricks. However with some ingenuity, even that can be done.
Training collars for dogs are now easily accessible
and at modest prices. This has helped the genial households who
venture to have dogs as their pets. These come in different
designs. Chokes and chains act in a basic manner and keep a
stranglehold on your dog so that it remains quieter than normal. If
you want sudden activity, fit it with breakaway collar; it gives
away when given a sharp pull. When it chances upon a game or sees
an alpha dog, it has a blood surge to break away, and then this
collar helps.
Training collars for dogs are
created with their comfort level in view. In this segment, slip
collar is great as it can be regulated according to your wishes. If
your dog is behaving rather odd, just give it a tighter shrug. Just
remember to give it enough movement of the mouth for panting and
barking. For dangerous dogs, typical training standards are set.
You can allocate a particular space in your outhouse for your dog?s
training and make sure your dog associates with it. You may keep a
whip ready to frighten it, but don?t use that. Now, just make it
connect that typical behaviors will lead to rewards or penalties.
Enough barking may lead to a prong collar. You may also place a
muzzle or a halter collar when it is in ferocious mood. Bouts of
non-food or shutting up will help keep your dog silent. Dogs do
have minds of their own, and it is essential that it understands
itself to be a member of your house. Effective use of
training collars for dogs should be coupled with
times when you leave it free and allow time to play and enjoy.
Place its bowl near its kennel and inculcate that it will eat only
in that space. Likewise, for roaming or taking a quick nap, it
knows the mat it should rest in. Jot down the dos and don?ts for
the dog and get your dog to know it. Over all, always remember to
shower unconditional love at special times like early in the
morning or at sunset. Make it feel loved. You may also make your
old dog learn new tricks through specific collars.
Training
collars for dogs like Martingales are great materials in that
respect. Your dog?s behavior ill reflect on your upbringing.

A decent sober dog with elegant
manners is a sight for all sore eyes. People don?t only appreciate
such dogs, but keep the owners in high regard too. Good thing is
that with subtle use of
training
collars for dogs, you can make even a surly dog behave like a
parrot. A dog?s inborn use is of protecting your household. For
that, it needs to be agile, a little fierce and on its feet. These
tendencies should not be curbed. It is akin to make a lion eat
grass. Still, with some intelligent training, your dog will bark
less, bite even lesser and behave nastily the least.
Training collars for dogs like flat collars will
keep your dog on a leash and realize that. It is not a quick
release collar and thus, there is a fear of strangulation.
Therefore, nylon-clip-ons or collars made of hemp are great
materials. Martingales, although suited for hounds, are great
source of taming your dog. If your dog is testy, a couple of stints
with prong collar will help. Prongs are rather irritating to a
dog?s neck and if your dog realizes that with every indecent
behavior, there is a promise of prong collar, it will rather behave
decently. Make a daily routine of training your dog. Start easily
with a typical collar like breakaway collar. Make it rush to a
particular focus, say; a ball and the quick release collar will
make it enjoy the session. After a few such stints, make it stand
on its heels or jump through a loop. Keeping relatively silent
should get it a rewarding piece of meat. If your dog still
continues to behave awkwardly, send shivers through its spines
through shock collars. New types of collars like electronic collars
or vibration collars will also make your dog stay decent. No one
likes a vibrating feeling at odd moments, not least your dog.
Associate that fear with particular
training collars for dogs like a blue prong
collar. You may also use the collar for identification by placing
your details. Lighted collars work great in cold and foggy
environment as it increases visibility. There are some
rehabilitating collars too like flotation collars. Start your use
of
training collars for dogs only after consulting your
vet. They will advise you against use of some collars for typical
breeds. These collars also protect your dog?s interests from
unsavory attacks. Most of all, treat your dog with love.

Often, you may have seen a dog
in your relative?s house and impressed with its behavior. That is
not hard to obtain in the case of your own pet. You just need to
make a sincere effort with some quality time and effective
training
collars for dogs. Firstly, get a proper kennel for your dog and
color its insides in bright shades. This will keep your dog in
initial jovial mood. Make it know that the area around the kennel
is your dogs entirely. Apportion specific areas for its napping,
feeding and relieving. Then the second area is how your dog behaves
in your house and while strolling in the park. Just like a cane in
a teacher?s hand makes students keep quiet,
training
collars for dogs keep them at bay. Day time is the best
period for their lessons. Impress on them that if they learn a
particular number of lessons in said time, they will escape
punishment or get an earnest reward. Make them realize the value of
time through, say, bells or tuning forks. Punishment may range from
starving to slight whipping to harsh collars. Slip collars are
genuine means of imparting lessons. Because its noose in quite
flexible. If your dog becomes a bit mischievous, give it a tight
latch. Soon, they will come to senses that if they don?t behave
well, their neck is in for punishment. Dogs do gather scratches on
their necks courtesy fights with fellow dogs or their own tendency
to scratch.
Training collars for dogs also prevent such
scratching by covering that area. Out of sight; out of mind! Show
your human aspect by presenting them flea repellants. This will
also save you unnecessary visit to the doctor. You may also use
prong collars that have prongs on their insides. When they impress
on the dog?s neck, your dog feels a sensation it doesn?t
appreciate. Prongs are however blunt-ends and don?t leave wounds.
With their help and certain other collars, you may inhibit some of
your dog?s natural habits like excessive barking. Also teach your
dog decent strolling manners that look pleasing to a passerby.
Their pouncing nature should be somewhat curtailed through lure of
a reward.
Training collars for dogs do have their cons as
they make your dog rather dependent on equipment. Still, they are
an elegant way in gaining a foothold on your dog?s mindset. Just
use these collars with discretion.

They say, spare the rod and
spoil the child. Now, even a dog is like a child to a sensitive
owner. So, it is clear that dogs should also be treated with
occasional discipline in case they pose tantrums. A
dog training
collar is a great way of ensuring that discipline. Small made
dogs like poodles will do well with buckles or flat collars. For
monstrous and dangerous dogs, you need a stronger hold and prong
collars are more reasonable in keeping them under control. These
prongs are rather blunt and don?t cause them bodily harm, but
ensure nonetheless with some pressure that they will behave with
caution. While training dogs, you may first attract it to visual
rewards if they get their act right. Make their practice a daily
habit and at specific times. It is best if you associate their
training periods with chiming clocks. Your plan should be such that
every chime should have certain impact on them. Your
dog
training collar should neither be too tight nor too loose.
In case your dog has a habit of pulling on the collar viciously,
clip them on with quick release collars. If they continue with
their aggressive behavior, fit their mouths with muzzles. This will
make them realize that they are not acting like a saint all
through. While taking your dog for a walk, ensure that the collar
is not a burden on its neck. Free movement of four feet each way
will keep it happy, and if the weather is fine, your dog will be
happy as well. Allow it some space for barking. Although there are
collars like slip collars and shock collars to reduce that tendency
too. An electronic or remote controlled
dog training collar works well with hunting and
large dogs. Even collars that send up vibrations along their spine
will make them behave in a particular manner to avoid those
vibrations. They should also be taught simple manners like
relieving outside, eating on their bowls and resting on their
allocated mats. You should keep a flea collar too to keep away
their irritants. They should be conveyed that all fences are not
electrical, and all areas are not to be trespassed. They should be
alert of their limitations and respect that space. Of course that
depends on your own capacity to train and your love towards your
pet. A mix of caution and aggression; rewards and penalties and a
dog training collar will just work perfect.

Training
collars for dogs are one of the most popular devices that are
used for the purpose of training today. There are many different
types of collar on the market, and if you are looking for one you
should really understand the difference between them all. The
shock collar is something that is used under extreme
circumstances, and it is not something that is used in all
scenarios. There are also collars that are designed to help stop
a dog that incessantly barks. These collars are not as invasive,
but they do have similar traits to them.
It Benefits The
Trainer While it may seem like something that is not
necessary, they are not actually the case. There are many
situations where a trainer would actually benefit from
training collars for dogs, as they allow the
trainer the chance to regain control of a difficult dog. There
may be slight differences in opinion where it comes to trainers
and dogs, so this type of collar can actually bring the favor
back to the trainer's side of things. This is something that each
and every trainer should have at their disposal, and they should
use it when they actually need it and not rely on it. If a
trainer has no other alternative than to use a shock collar on a
difficult dog, they will want this documented so they can show
the owner of the dog the purpose of the use. This will keep the
trainer from running into any issues with the owner of the dog,
and it will continue to aid in their practices.
Long
History Training collars for dogs actually have very
long history attached to them. There are all types of collars
that have been used over the years for various reasons, and each
collar that was invented, was done so with a particular need in
mind. One of the most common of the training collars that are
used for larger breeds is the chain spiked collar. This collar is
designed with internal spikes, and it tightens on the dog's neck
when pressure is applied. This collar was meant to control large
aggressive breeds, and while it is not used all that often today
you still can find them. This type of collar is one that should
not be used by an inexperienced owner or trainer, as this collar
has the potential to hurt the dog seriously.
Nylon
Clip-on A very common commodity where it comes to
training collars for dogs is the nylon clip-on collars. These
collars are designed for easy on off connections, and they can
come in many sizes. These collars are inexpensive, and they are
very durable. They wear well when wet and they do not fray
easily. This makes them strong, and they are even tough enough to
deal with the bigger dogs. These collars are great for beginner
trainers, and they are also found in professional training sites
as well. They are very useful for a variety of tasks, and you
will be surprised at just how easy they are to work with.

From ancient times, people have
kept dogs; as partners and as protectors. They have also kept
typical leashes to contain these dogs. Thus, there is a
significance attached to these
dog training
collars from quite long. Let us get into the variations. While
buckle collars are straight from old school, they work immensely
well. Shock collars are rather shocking to purists, yet they do
their job in silencing and restraining ferocious dogs. Prong
collars are fitted with teeth and spikes that cut across dog?s neck
and make it uncomfortable. These are quite effective in steadying a
dog in wild mood. Some
dog training collars are
tailor-made for hounds, some for small breeds and some for giants
like Doberman. These should of course be used with discretion and
not for long periods. Your dog should be allowed generous freedom
while munching or sleeping in its kennel. During its training
schedule, dogs should be allowed to focus on their quests. If they
move away, the noose can be tightened just as well. Just make sure
that you don?t leave rashes or injuries by whipping your dog. Slip
collars are perhaps most in demand as their clasp can be regulated
from exceedingly tight to quite loose, depending on dog?s behavior.
Dogs pick up rewards in relation to time rather well, say, a daily
routine of feeding thin slice of meat at sunset. You can add a
further factor. For example, they are sure to get that meat if they
relieve themselves at a designed place.
Dog training collars automatically impress your
dogs that if it behaves in a meaningful way, it will lead a loving
and loved life. These collars are also an eminent sign of
identification, so that your dog will be restored to you, even if
it gets lost. These also help in sharpening hunting and behaving
skills with certain changes in their clasp. It is wise to make them
wear flea-repelling collars to keep away their potent enemies:
Fleas. They also cover their neck bites and because they can?t see
these scratches, dogs feel comfortable. In all fairness, it is best
to use breakaway collars so that dogs are ensured they won?t get
strangled. It is a fact that these
dog training collars
will only initiate your training procedure. It then depends on your
training skills and inherent love and response for your pet. Make
them appreciate the value of good hygiene.

A dog barks and a stain leaves
marks. You cannot negate them. However, with some tactic, you can
lessen their impact. There are some dogs that bite unnecessarily,
some that bark offensively and some are habitually quiet. With
different sorts of
dog training collars, they can all be made to
behave. Buckle collars, slip collars, floatation collars; there are
quite many dog collars on view. They have been invented to control
different types of dogs. Just like kids, they do not have inborn
decency. However, when you own a dog, you are expected to ensure
that your dog behaves properly with guests and relations. Buckle
collar or nylon clip-on is the most basic and yet quite effective
way of ensuring that. They are not easily released and thus dogs
fear that they may be strangulated when pressed severely. They
therefore react cordially in those times. Shock collars send
electric signals through the body which that naturally abhor. Thus,
when wearing a shock collar, even the most aggressive wolfhound
behaves like a harmless poodle. Dogs have a tendency to attack dogs
of an inferior breed and you cannot fight that. With logical
attempts, you can lessen their aggression all the same. By coaxing
them with veal slices or special biscuits at odd times makes them
quieter at most times. You should however not abstain from
punishing them when they show testiness. For instance, if it bites
a person without reason, just ignore your dog or let it starve and
it will come down to reason. Harnessing it with hard
dog
training collars will also help. You can also place
halter-style collars so that its mouth is not quite free to
operate. Remember that tough collars should only be used in serious
circumstances. You should also keep in concern that they will
naturally behave awkwardly in their mating seasons if they don?t
get a mate. In these times, true and good care is needed if you
cannot provide your dog a mate. There are some recuperative collars
also like floatation collars. Water is a natural healer but some
dogs fear being in water, and thus these buoyant collars are of
good value.
Dog training collars are a means to control your
dog, not to enslave them. This point should not be missed. If you
are able to instill good eating, sleeping and other habits in your
dog, consider that you have used your
dog training collars
well.

Dogs have natural enemies like
fleas and irritation. When left to themselves, dogs become quite
irritable and often bossy. Thus, when you own dogs, you try to
ensure that it wears the hat of a respectable gentleman with smooth
manners. In this aspect, there is a feeling that
dog training
collars help a lot. First things first, these collars
definitely help by inserting your dog?s mindset that it is under
some sort of control. Special collars like slip collars or prong
collars have good enough grasp of their necks: Their most potent
part. By pressing these collars more, they are often subjugated
into obeying you. However, this can also act as a two-edged sword
and they can get violent towards their owner if these collars are
used rather often. Certain
dog training collars
like buckle collars make them breathe easy and so it is better if
you use different sorts at different times. During its sleep or
leisure, they should be left rather easy. They should be taught the
relevance of happenings like food, sleep, walk and hunt by
different use of collars. Dogs get delighted when suddenly they get
a freebie after a nice gesture. This will relate them to act nicely
most of the times. Dogs have a tendency to get their back or neck
scratched. Some collars help in covering these scratches so that
your dog is not tempted to make that scratch a wound. These collars
also save your dog from material danger from other dogs. They
should also be taught good hygiene. This can be easily done by
inserting a nice reward on every bath your dog takes. In addition
to these
dog training collars, they should also be made
to feel as if they are a part of your family. Simple acts like
cuddling or patting go well with them. These collars also act as
their identity cards. Innovative collars like shock collars will
send a slight current through them when they get rash. Lighted
collars are quite useful during night or fog to make them visible.
Your dog should also be taught that not all strangers are bad
people, although some may be frightened. Strangers also breathe a
sigh of relief when they see dogs under suggestive collars. It is
not an easy job to give wholesome training to your dogs. However,
you can always make a start of training your dog through these
dog training collars.

A
dog training
collar really can be an effective tool if used properly and
at the right time. It is important to recognize the differences
in the types of training collars available and which one would
best suit your needs as well as your dog's temperament, size, and
age. It is equally important to note that some of the training
collars, such as the prong collar, can be very harmful to a young
dog and should not be used until the dog is at least 1 year of
age. Each collar has a unique purpose and targets a different
level of disobedience. Be sure to evaluate the current level of
obedience that has already been established and do so with a
professional trainer if possible. It's important to recognize the
degree of difference between the current state of the dog's
training and the desired outcome and to not base the decision of
which collar to use based only on the desired outcome. Some dogs
require a higher degree or effort and others may simply need some
gentle reinforcement. Let's get into a few of the types of
dog
training collars available with the first and most prominent
being the prong collar. This one is made of a series of chain
links which have open ended prongs that point in towards the
dog's neck. This collar looks painful and really can be if abused
or misused. This one should only be used if the dog is truly out
of control, a strong or aggressive breed, and if the dog is over
one year of age. A gentler option would be the martingale collar.
This one is made of nylon or leather and looks like a regular
head collar but it does not buckle or fasten. It is pulled over
and around the dog's head and has a chain that connects the two
ends of the material. There is a loop on the chin which the leash
is fastened to and when the dog pulls the collar will tighten.
The difference between the martingale and the prong collar, other
than the prongs, is that the martingale collar has a threshold in
which it cannot be pulled too tightly. Another option is the head
halter or halti. This one is typically seen on horses but is also
very effective on dogs. It loops around the dog's muzzle and then
fastens at the back of the neck. It provides more control over a
dog's reaction and direction. Very effective for hyper dogs who
don't necessarily pull but may jump or dart in different
directions.
