The Pristine content team was working on a new course on Analytics with R, so most of us have been trying our hand at R and we will be posting more on data analysis using R on this blog shortly. In the meanwhile I thought it would be great if we could do some great visualizations with the data that we have.

What better data, than our Student Database!

It’s a good thing that we had more than 2000 students from India this year, the image above is the geographical map of where our students are coming from in India. Here are my notes on the same -

• The density in Madhya Pradesh is most likely to do with our affiliation to IIM Indore
• I had expected Maharashtra and Delhi areas to be more densely packed,
• Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand are strangely empty, either students from those areas who are Pristine students are not giving out the new state names, or I went wrong in mapping the cities to the states (most likely the later!)

Last Day tips

• Do one set of revision, use either the Cheatsheet, or the Summarized charts.
• Relax in the evening, and do not indulge in preps till the last minute. It is mentally exhausting and you do not want to be tired mentally or physically on the day of the exam.
• Check your exam set (pens, pencils, erasers and sharpeners), ensure you have all the relevant papers (admit card, passport, identification) ready.
• Check the battery on the calculator.
• Go to sleep a bit early, and rise up fresh in the morning.

Does Facebooks photo change after acquiring Instagram?

Last week after acquiring Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg is eying to make money from its mobile subscribers. This is something which is bound to happen to save Facebook from growing competition in internet space, especially over mobile.

Don’t forget that Instagram, with its growing subscriber base was itself a threat for Facebook’s market dominance. That is Instagram’s application was on its way to become the easy medium to take and share photos, especially in mobile technology. Moreover Google is giving tough competition in the social web space by launching its Google Plus. Also Google in news for launching the world’s first Glass Computing “Google Glass” which would mean instant clicking, tagging and sharing of photos without even using finger. Keeping precisely its eye on recent development in the internet space, Zuckerberg grab the opportunity to control future cash-cow mobile photo sharing by buying the company itself.

As of now, Facebook makes on money from its mobile subscribers and it is also expected that once the Facebook IPO hits the market, its valuation may fall from its initial value for a short period, that’s when the Instagram will come into the picture to rescue its new owner. That is it will become the new source of revenue for the Facebook. Instagram provides a direct avenue for targeting mobile ecosystem.
