“Many
municipalities are considering the removal of their fluoride
programs from their water supplies.”
Home Water Filtration -Florida: While fluoride began as a fantastic idea, it has lately come under fire for the disputed negatives it may be causing when automatically injected into a city water system. The original idea, to add something to the water to help preserve healthy teeth, was a rather clever one. [..read more..]

Systems: Losing weight isn’t easy
and millions of people throughout the world struggle to do so.
You need all the help you can get. Drinking water is a simple act
but can be instrumental in helping you to lose the pounds you
want to shed. It works in at least two ways. It makes you feel
fuller and you won’t need to eat so much. It flushes out the
toxins that hold the weight on.
Drinking a full glass of water before every meal will help you to feel fuller before you even take the first bite of your food. The water is temporary filler and also gives you something healthier to drink with your meal than sugary or calorie filled beverages. That will save you many calories over a period of time. Think about the calorie intake you experience when you have a soda with your meal. Juices can be healthier, but are also very high in sugar and calories. Pure, clean drinking water has no calories, no sugar, and no preservatives or chemical additives.
“Drinking nice, fresh and clear water every day is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to help if you are trying to lose weight.”
The toxins we are exposed to every day are harmful to our bodies and can cause the body to hold onto fat cells. A daily minimum of pure water can go a long way to clear out the system. The toxins flush out through the kidneys aided in their travels by water to move them along. Think of a leaf in a stream. Imagine that the leaf is a toxin. The flowing of the water sends the leaf to another place quite efficiently. This is the way that water acts to flush your system of harmful toxins. It’s quite simplified, of course, but a good example.
Drinking water has been documented to burn calories. That works in that the water boosts your metabolism. In a study done among water drinkers that were dieting, a clinician noted that because the metabolism was elevated for approximately half hour after drinking a full glass of water, the study participants burned about 25 additional calories each.
Drinking nice, fresh and clear water every day is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to help if you are trying to lose weight or are just interested in better health in general. Diet supplements, special diets, vitamins, gym memberships, commercial diet plans, and other expenses related to weight loss are made more economical with the use of drinking water to help the cause along.
“Many people are even more particular about the water
they drink and wish to further filter their water.”
Home Water Filtration -Florida: Most of our water today comes from the ground. It seeps into the ground after rainfall, evaporation, snowmelt, or from underground water sources that are brought to the surface. The human activities that take place can cause chemicals to leach into the groundwater. [..read more..]

Systems: Some areas of the
country are prone to flooding. Where flood waters cover a large
area and may contaminate the ground water, well water, and
drinking water in general there will be a directive from the
local authorities to boil your water. That’s the usual course of
events.
If the flooding has occurred in your yard and the authorities have no jurisdiction there, or aren’t aware of the problem, there are some simple precautions you can take to protect yourself and your family from drinking contaminated water.
You may have bottled water around for just such incidents. Use that, of course, unless the flood waters have covered the bottles. In that case, the bacteria and other undesirable organisms may be ingested when you touch the bottle and twist off the cap. Better not to take a chance.
“If there is a well on your property you should have the water tested. When the flood waters have receded you can have it disinfected if there is a problem with contamination.”
Boiled water will hold no germs if it is boiled long and hot enough. You can kill everything by boiling water for a full minute. Allow to cool, and cover. Store until you need to use it. Bleach can disinfect water quite effectively, too. In some cases you may not have the ability to boil the water.
For cloudy water filter it first through cheesecloth or other clean fabric. Once the water has settled down, pour off the clearest portion of water into a clean container. Use 8 drops of bleach to disinfect one gallon of water. Be sure to use bleach that doesn’t have scent added. Stir the bleach well into the water. Wait half hour before using the water. Always cover the clean water and store it in clean jars, bottles, or other containers.
If there is a well on your property you should have the water tested. When the flood waters have receded you can have it disinfected if there is a problem with contamination. There is usually an extension office or a health department that can help you to learn how to get your water tested. The extension office may be listed under the department of agriculture.
You may have a water filtration system in your home. Some are more powerful than others and you will need to know which contaminants are in your water after a flood. Then you can consult the manufacturer of the filter system to determine whether or not you will still need to treat your water in alternative ways before drinking and cooking with it.
“If you are the owner or
operator of a daycare center you can get the water tested
easily.”
Free Water Testing – Lifetime Water Solutions: Do you run a small daycare center? Does your child attend one? If it’s a larger facility in a public building there will be testing done in most cases and the city, county, or state health departments will be aware of the water quality in your child’s facility. There could be minuscule bacteria or other undesirable elements lurking that you can’t necessarily see. Testing yourself at home can be the first step in determining what to do about it.
If there is anything in your water that doesn’t belong there, you can usually install a water filtration system in your house that will take care of most of the problem, if not all.
If you live in a place that provides water to you through a common pipeline there can be chlorine, fluoride, and other additives that you may not want in your diet. You can get a Consumer Confidence Report, which is required by law if you request one. This will give you the details of the water flowing into your home.
A simple home test is to fill a clear glass with water from your tap. Hold it up to good light and take a look to see if it’s clear. There may be tiny specs of material floating around in it. That could be minerals or sediment, both of which can cause kidney stones and other health concerns.
Rotten egg smells, for example, indicate sulfur and you should call the city to report it.
The water should be tested professionally
If your water has an odor to it, there could be a problem. Rotten egg smells, for example, indicate sulfur and you should call the city to report it. The water should be tested professionally. Look for blue, brown, red, or green stains in the toilet or tub, which is another indicator.
If you don’t have city water but own your well there could be a number of problems with old pipe that is letting the surrounding ground dirt seep into it. The pipes themselves could be corroding with time and adding their own flake off into the water. Testing in that case can be done by a home test kit, available at the home improvement stores. For more accurate testing you can have it tested by a lab. If you have a county extension office nearby they can tell you of a reputable testing company that will charge a small fee to give you a very accurate reading.
As the owner of a well you are the only one that will be concerned about your water quality. It’s important to test the water when you move in. Then have it tested for herbicides, coliforms, nitrates, lead, and total dissolved solids, all of which you will need to address if present.
“There are contaminants that are that the EPA requires
testing for.”
Lifetime Water Solutions: Drinking water in any form should be tested to see what’s in it. Even bottled water can contain contaminants albeit in very minor and legal limits. There is no real health risk, of course. The Environmental Protection Agency, the EPA, is the agency that sets the standards for the acceptable levels of toxins in water. [..more..]
As children in school, a standard learning experience involves the actual chemical makeup of certain common elements that we are all familiar with. Perhaps the most common of those is water. We learn that water is composed of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. That still didn’t click as to why it was important to drink it, however.
At this point we know that we are made up of
approximately 65% water, give or take a few percentage points
here and there. Your blood contains much water, which is the
flowing agent. Your brain and lungs are also part water. It’s
used by your digestive system to complete the digestive process.
It digests the food and moves the waste through your body and
out. Nutrients must travel through your body and be carried to
all of the vital organs. Water facilitates that movement.
Another handy function of water is to keep your joints working correctly. Without drinking enough water your joints are operating at a less than perfect mode. Water helps them to move fluidly and protects them from running dry. Natural cortisone protects your joints as they contain a measure of it, but the water in your system helps to keep everything from drying up including the natural lubricants that aid in smooth moving joints.
To figure out how much water you should drink each day, weigh yourself if you don’t know your current weight. Now divide your weight in half and that’s the number of ounces of water you should drink in a day for optimum results. For example, if you weigh 184 pounds, your ideal water consumption amount daily would be 92 ounces. The old idea about drinking 8 glasses of water each day, 8 ounces each glass is no longer the rule of thumb.
If it sounds like a lot of fluids for you to drink, consider how much moisture you are getting through your foods and other beverages. An average of one fifth of the water you need comes from your food and other sources.
Fruit juices, vegetable juices, tea, coffee, sports drinks, and sodas all contain water which counts in the daily calculation. Be careful of the other content in those drinks though. Water is the most effective and the healthiest way for you to get your daily amount. Sugar is present in many of the alternatives and may present a hazard of its own.
Lifetime Water Solutions: Municipal water
districts are obligated to provide you with clean and safe
drinking water. While this is what should be provided to you, it
sometimes takes dramatic measures on the part of the provider to
make sure the water is clean and free of disease. Depending on
where the water comes from, you may find that there are additives
to the water that do not agree with you. [..more..]
Hydro Quad® Water Processors: If
water drinking is so good for you, then why is so much of the
world’s water contaminated?
That sounds like a contradiction. The truth is
that good, clean water is very good for you but drinking poorly
filtered water containing contaminants and other unhealthy
elements is not so good.
There are studies conducted on a regular basis by many different environmental groups and municipalities. They must ensure that the water they provide to residents is potable and healthy with only acceptable levels of minerals and toxins.
Some of the contaminants that leach into a drinking water supply system just seep in from the watershed. Agricultural pesticides and other chemicals used in farming soak into the ground and end up in the water. Industrial wastewater treatment plants sometimes have runoff that goes into the water system. Infants, children, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to these contaminants.
An acceptable level of toxins when set by a country’s or a city’s standards may not be acceptable to you. If you are particularly sensitive to toxins or have allergies you may not want to ingest any toxins. Some choose to purchase their own water filtration systems that provide a better filter for whatever drinking water is used by their households. This is more of a sure way to be certain of what you are drinking.
Contaminants typically found in municipal drinking water systems are from agricultural pollution, urban population center pollution, industrial pollution, and water treatment agents that cause a small amount. Contaminants found include microorganisms, pesticides, sediment, and other toxins.
The presence of minerals in the water can be healthful, but can also become unhealthy if there is too much of it. Drinking iron laden water from a well, for example, is known to cause a buildup in the kidneys that can lead to the formation of painful kidney stones. Water containing high levels of calcium can cause the same problems. If you live in a rural area and get your drinking water from a well, you may want to install a filter to clear out your drinking water.
You can have your water tested by looking in the local phone book and finding a water testing facility. In many areas the rural university agricultural extension office can help you. They either do the testing or know of someone who does it. You will be instructed to collect a sample of your water and for a small fee you can have it analyzed for the contents.
