Google New Changes in Index and Site Links


The biggest news is that Google has increased the size of its base index

Increase base index size by 15%. The base search index is our main index for serving search results and every query that comes into Google is matched against this index. This change increases the number of documents served by that index by 15%. *Note: We’re constantly tuning the size of our different indexes and changes may not always appear in these blog posts.

 New index tier.  We keep our index in “tiers” where different documents are indexed at different rates depending on how relevant they are likely to be to users. This month we introduced an additional indexing tier to support continued comprehensiveness in search results.

AdWords Limits New Ad Rotation to 30 Days


Google has announced that the “rotate” feature in AdWords will change starting next week. The change limits ad rotation to 30 days. After the 30 days, AdWords will optimize and show the ads that are converting the best and getting the most clicks.

Currently AdWords offers three different variations for ad rotation: optimize for clicks, optimize for conversions, and rotate evenly.

The rotate setting is great for testing new creatives and seeing which ads are performing the best. But Google is finding that when running these ads indefinitely can hurt advertisers by driving less relevant ads to users.
Each time a new ads goes into the mix it will reset the clock to 30 days to more evenly distribute the ads. After the 30 days it will auto-optimize your ads to show the most clickable ad.

When this new feature rolls out, all ads that are older than 30 days will auto-optimize to the most clickable ad rotation behavior. Otherwise, it will be 30 days from the day the new creatives for ad rotation were added.

+1 button coming to Google AdWords


In the coming weeks, your search results and ads on Google will include a +1 button, which users can click to recommend your ads. You don’t need to make any changes to your account in order to take advantage of them. The final landing page URL of your ads can also appear on the Google profile of any user who +1’s your ad.

Here’s how the +1 button works:

Let’s say you own a hotel in Madrid. Brian had a lovely stay at your hotel last summer. When Brian starts researching accommodations for his next trip to Spain, he searches on Google while signed into his Google account, and sees your ad. He clicks the +1 button on the ad to recommend it to his contacts.

How to become Google Certified Adwords-Analytics Individual
