This model goes very deep and distinguishes objects well. Using the
7-inch coil that comes with it, I located a horseshoe about 9
inches deep. At 4 inches deep, I discovered a U nail also called a
fence staple that is designed to put up barbed wire. When I found
the U nail, the detector gave me 2 steady tones as I put the coil
right over it. I heard a tone when it passed every side of the U
nail.

The instruction booklet is extremely straight forward (I was able
to finish it two times while I was on the bus, which is a 25 minute
drive each way). The BH/D1100 comes together extremely easily.
