Our only disappointment was we expected a traditional three way lamp after reading the specs. The three way actually is the top light by itself, the base light by itself, and then the top and base light together. The lamp is awesome and was a perfect fit with the leather sofa, we ended up loving the unique three way, you couldn't beat the internet price and it was delivered in time to finish the room for our arriving house guests.

(More customer reviews)I've been waiting for this lamp to come out in North America for over a year now. I first saw this while visiting friends in Hong Kong. I was smitten at first sight and purchased one for myself. On a subsequent trip, I bought a second one and I use them on each of nightstand alongside my bed. These lamps are just plain sexy. My best friend, who is a designer, loved it at first sight and she's a picky one. Two of them are almost bright enough to read by but not quite. However, just one lamp can drastically change the mood of a dimmed room. These are not bright enough to have any impact during normal daylight hours. It's more of a subtle device.
For a sense of scale, these lamps are about the size of a volleyball.
I recently purchased my THIRD lamp (that's how much I love this product) on Amazon.com but it was defective and had to be swapped out. However, I can tell you that there are subtle differences in the Asian and North American lamps.
1) the faceplate with the bulbs is a bit sturdier and has a few plastic dimples
2) the function which continuously cycles the colors is very gradual v. the rapid-fire changes in the Asian-market lamps
3) These lamps ARE NOT the new Generation 2 lamps that are currently out in Europe. Amazon.uk has these lamps but will not ship to the USA for some incredibly stupid reason even though the AC transformer can handle US voltage with a simple three prong adaptor. Gen2 lamps have SEVEN bulbs and are 50% brighter. These are the Gen1 lamps with 4 bulbs but they are still plenty bright.
4) There are some theorized mounting accessories in the works for these lamps but I have not seen any yet
Now, all this being said, I also recommend this over the mini-lamp due to the RF remote which can operate up to six lamps simultaneously. The remote, by the way, uses a touch-wheel similar to an iPod and it also allows a dimming function and an intensity function which means you can change the illumination to a white light, if so desired.
The only drawback I have with this lamp is that it's pretty easy to roll off of its infinity-shaped base-plate (which actually, now that I think about it may not be part of the US-release), or the flattened area at its base where the cord inserts. This is not a lamp that you want to have near a high-traffic area or in a home with kids, pets, or clumsy folks.
Bottom line? This is a spendy, but endlessly pleasing product with killer looks, and a "wow" factor that will amuse even the most demanding consumer. You won't need to paint your walls anything but white and with a couple of these installed you'll be able to change the entire look of the room with just swipe of the remote. Now some people will argue for LED bulbs with a remote, and it's true that they are much cheaper, but the aesthetic of this product can't be beat.Buy one. Buy two, actually.

1) It's kind of tough to install this thing between joists 24" on center (22.5" space...) when the thing is 22 5/8" wide. So I'm not in a very good mood writing this review, as you can imagine. Don't frame it until you have it and measure it or the foul language will be sure to fly. Cruel.
2) There is another model, I think they call it a "Deluxe" that has the latching door with the recesses. That one's more expensive. This one doesn't have any of it, despite the pictures above. Not that I care about the latch, the recesses would have been nice.
It came well packaged, crazy fast shipping from MA to NJ the next day via UPS ground. And it looks very nice up on the ceiling. Finishes off the attic nicely - much better than the piece of sheet rock and moulding you probably have up there now.
Not bad build quality, but for $200 it should have been better. Same for the materials - mine is in a small area of the attic that isn't used, so it will do.
Man, I'm still angry - 1/8" too big for standard framing????????????? Should have been a half-hour installation that ended up taking me four ripping out what I had and redoing it. Not fun.

Aesthetics aside, it's a very useful desk lamp. Has nice lighting and you can actually dim it. It's large but the footprint isn't absurd. We bought it for our 2 year old daughter, but ended up gifting it to my mother (who wanted a better desk lamp and loved the way this one looked). The reason why we didn't feel comfortable giving it to our daughter because the part where the bulb is has no cover and the bulb (which is a fluorescent spiral) looks like too much of a temptation to grab at. We ended up buying the fox lamp (made by this same company) for her instead.

(More customer reviews)After calling the Wayne Dalton help desk several times, they had me check every important part of my garage door for balance issues. The door was balanced perfectly, so the techs were clearly at a loss to figure out what was wrong. So, they sent me a new motherboard. It was easy to install and, as soon as I did so, the garage door opened/closed perfectly. I have not had a problem with it since (it has been perhaps 5 months since I replaced the mother board). Thus, I would have to say that all of my pain and suffering were simply the result of a defective piece of harware.
Wayne Dalton not only sent me the replacement motherboard, but also sent me a UPS slip to have the old motherboard sent back to them for analysis. None of this, of course, cost me a penny.
All in all, this garage door opener is great. I opens and closes faster and quieter than any other garage door opener that I know of. It's very small and there is no overhead unit in the middle of the garage (it simply sits on top of the torsion bar).
Furthermore, I think that the phone techs showed great patience with me and were very willing to work with me to resolve the problem.
Instead of deleting my original review, I thought it would be useful for those considering this machine to see what I went through. Most people that do installations of this kind know that defective hardware happens, and a good company will replace said hardware.
If you install this opener correctly, and it is not working, don't hesitate to call Wayne Dalton and have them work with you. It just might be a defective piece of hardware that is messing everything up.
After about 5 months of working properly, I think I can safely say that this machine is excellent.

(More customer reviews)My entire house is rigged up with Z-Wave modules and they all work very well. I have been very surprised at how well it has all worked actually. These outdoor units are great. Very easy to add to the programmer for controlling. They are extremely durable. If hung correctly with base pointing down (exactly as shown in the picture) the plug is actually recessed for good protection from water or rain. I have several of these units and use them for controlling Christmas lights, Halloween pumpkin (120 volt) LED lights, exterior Christmas decorations, small outdoor water fountain and an electric fence shocker (which I keep on only at night) for keeping raccoons off my deck at night. They all come on and off everyday exactly when I programed them to.....I love it!
