(More customer

conditioner is much less efficient than a comparable window unit.
It's definitely more expensive than a window air conditioner
(probably at least double the cost); you're paying for appearance
and convenience, not functionality. (It's easy to disconnect this
unit and roll it away into a corner or closet.)
I bought two of these for two rooms with sliding casement windows
that posed problems for window units -- and I didn't want to bother
with installing and then removing bulky window units every season.
One of the rooms is a very large bedroom with a cathedral ceiling,
and the Frigidaire portable air conditioner has no problem keeping
it cool. Your options for placing the unit are rather limited --
there is a somewhat flexible duct that must be run from the back of
the unit to a window (or a hole through an exterior wall), and you
also need a nearby electrical outlet, preferably on an isolated
circuit.

(More customer

conditioners (model DPAC 12030) for two years now. A unit of this
size struggles to cool a 400 sq.ft. room a few degrees (with 30ºC
outside, window curtains drawn). I find the best way to use it is
to have the air blowing directly toward me.
My main complaints about the unit are:
* After a few months of use the small LED display, which is needed
to operate the unit, slowly went dim to the point of not being able
to read it. After many phone calls to Danby I was finally able to
get the display replaced under warranty by a local electronics
service company. But a few months later the display went dim again
- as though Danby hadn't bothered to upgrade this obviously faulty
component. To their credit, Danby agreed to replace the display one
more time out of warranty.
* The air coming out of the unit had a strange smell of oil for the
first season. The service company said that sometimes the
compressor leaks oil and it was probably the smell of the oil
burning off of the compressor housing.
* The unit is not real quiet. For the first year there was a
rattling noise that occurred when the compressor kicked in, but
this noise seems to have gone now.

(More customer

dehumidifiers for my basement. One of the units functioned well out
of the box and was reasonably quiet, especially considering that it
is a dehumidifier. It is certainly quieter than previous models I
have owned. The other unit was another story. It was quite noisy,
with lots of vibrations in the plastic cabinet, and there was
something wrong with the fan. It would operate only at low speed. I
checked both units and discovered that the quieter unit had the
model number AD50USS2 and came with a manual printed in 12/06. The
noisy malfunctioning unit had a model number AD50USS1 and came with
a manual printed in 3/06. I exchanged the malfunctioning unit and
made sure that I got a model AD50USS2. The new unit functions just
as well as my other "quieter" unit. My guess is that the AD50USS2
is a later model that has had the Noise Bugs ironed out. By the
way, here's a tip. If you really want to get these units about as
quiet as they can be, keep the styrofoam shipping pad that is at
the bottom of the unit and sit the dehumidifier in it rather than
letting it rest on the wheels.

complex). I have a pretty bad back and this makes it feel great.
I've had it for about a month now and love it. Like one other
reviewer said, it's not a toy, it's a real hottub. My friends are
amazed that I have this huge thing in my apartment.
It fits comfortably 2 people. Sure you can fit 4 in, but unlike
most hottubs, your legs just lay out, so with two people you can
move your legs in opposite directions, 4 people is a little tricky.
Usually with 4 people in it everyone knees and it's fine. Still
very comfortable.
Water height, perfect! I can sit down on my butt and the water is
basically past my chin. Sit on the knees and it's still at a fine
height. No need to worry about going into a kiddy pool. You'd have
to fill this half-way to even get a toddler to stand up in this
without drowning.
You can definitely feel the jets and they go 95% around the hottub
(they stop where the filter is). They're not your typical hottub
jets, it's another inflatable-like compartment with holes in it and
the air blows through it, but it still feels nice and gets the
water moving good.
I paid about [...] + tax + shipping, all in all about [...] and
well worth it. I use it almost every day and I'll be in it for
hours.
The only problems I have really had with it are I've broken several
of the straps that hold the cover on it (inflatable cover with
material cover to hold it down), but it's not that big of a deal. I
guess I just had the cover inflated too much.
Second Problem is the heater will show 102degrees, and I turn the
filter on and it will jump right up to 104 and not heat, any lower
than 102 degrees and it heats up fine. I have a thermometer in the
water than averages 102degrees.
To fill it up I bought a Fill Adapter that connects from my sink to
a garden hose and just run that over and into the tub. Works
beautifully. (Water coming from the sink = hot water and no wait
for it to heat up) Be careful though because when I first filled it
I had the water too hott and it was 112degrees (WAY TOO HOTT, I
couldn't get my foot in)
(Note: Ebay Fill Adapter is a cheap product, I replaced the cheap
plastic adapter with a metal one from Lowes, 15/16" Female to 3/4"
garden hose, and then the 15/16" male adapter to add on, ran me
about $[...])
All in all it's a great tub for the money. I highly suggest it and
the fun I have outweighs the two little problems!
Had trouble finding filters, but the PBW5 from spa-daddy.com works
fine!

(More customer
reviews)This air conditioner is not particularly
powerful nor well thought out. "A leading consumer magazine" says
that portable air conditioners don't work as well as window units,
so given that, I suppose it works as well as one could expect. It
did cool a 400 square foot room, but not powerfully so. And nearly
every other aspect of this unit is annoying.
Performance: I started the unit in a 400 square foot room - the
size it's rated for - at 84 degrees, with the outside temperature
about 95. The room quickly felt cooler, and within a couple of
hours had cooled down to 79. There it stayed - the unit could not
get it any colder. But it sure felt better than when it was 84. I
consider this performance barely acceptable.
I tried it in some other rooms. Rolling it between rooms was not
hard, even on a pretty deep carpet. Surprisingly, it didn't cool
much faster in a 300 square foot room with fewer windows. And in a
much larger room than recommended, all it did was circulate the hot
air from near the ceiling, raising the temperature at people level.
Don't fight the laws of physics.
Operation: This is where it gets irritating. The air louvers are
useless, because they're on the top of the unit. They adjust a bit
vertically, but you can't direct the air left or right. This hardly
matters because the air can't be aimed at someone unless they're
standing next to the unit. It's noisy at all fan speeds, less so on
low. I didn't notice much difference in cooling between those
settings.
The LED temperature readout is difficult to make out when there's
light behind it, and since the air conditioner typically sits in
front of a window, that'll be most of the time. The room
temperature reads two to four degrees low. So with the thermostat
set at 78, the room temperature leveled off at 80 (according to
three different digital thermometers).
The remote control works OK, but doesn't get any information from
the unit. So if you change the settings on the unit, and then use
the remote, the unit will pick up all the settings from the remote.
If this is confusing, use one or the other but not both.
The water tank is unlikely to fill except under high humidity
conditions, says the manual, and I agree. Our humidity indoors was
35%,. After three hours of operation there was no water in the
tank.
Assembly: The assembly instructions need more details. The hose
adapters that screw to the window plate can go on eight different
ways - facing in or out, inserted into the plate from the outside
or inside, and with the latching tabs on the sides, or top and
bottom. I ran through most of these before getting it right: Insert
the adapters from the outside, putting the flanges through the
plate to the inside. Put the screws through the plate into the
adapters. The tabs should go at the sides in most cases, so the
hose connectors will angle down.
The other thing they should tell you is how to remove the hose
connectors. Pressing the locking tabs is difficult. But just turn
the connector a bit on the flange. It'll press the tabs for you and
pop right off. Once all this is clear, the hose setup is quite
convenient. The hoses extend to 44"; if the hose connectors are
included then the total length is 52".
Recommendations: A lot of other Royal Sovereign models are
available. If I had to do it again I'd get a 14,000 BTU model with
louvers facing forward. Always get two hoses. The single hose
models don't cool as well because they vent inside air outside.
This sucks air back in from somewhere, and it's probably hot.

within a reasonable amount of time (e.g. 30 minutes) but you will
also need to empty the drain pan (for water) every hour or two/if
that long/or else your carpets will be soaking wet from the drain
pan that overflows. Even when you DO empty it on time, the design
of the pan makes it very easy to spill water all over the place and
DON'T forget the cheasy hose! Once you pull the drain pan away from
the air conditioner, it continues to leak water all over the floor
through that cheasy hose.

I still don't understand how this thing can decide to not trigger

12,000-BTU Evaporative Portable Air Conditioner with Heat Pump and
Remote Control
For exceptional versatility and comfort throughout the year, this
four-in-one portable appliance functions as an air conditioner,
heater, fan, and dehumidifier. Use it as a 1350-watt air
conditioner with 12,000 BTUs of cooling power for staying
comfortable in the summer, then in the winter switch over to its
1160-watt heater mode, which uses Heat Pump technology to deliver
12,000 BTUs of heating power. The user-friendly electronic control
panel makes it easy to select the mode of operation, the ideal room
temperature from 61 to 88 degrees F, and the fan speed--low,
medium, or high. A handy remote control comes included, which
allows for changing the settings from across the room. The unit can
also function as an evaporative dehumidifier, removing up to 60
pints of moisture from the air a day to help maintain ideal comfort
levels. Its Auto mode provides added convenience where the unit
operates as a heater when the room temperature falls below 68
degrees F, as a dehumidifier when the room temperature sits between
68 and 80 degrees F, and as an air conditioner when the room
temperature reaches above 80 degrees F. Other highlights include
Sleep mode, a 24-hour automatic on/off programmable timer, optional
oscillation, and an easy-access permanent air filter. Best of all,
its portable design means there's no need for permanent
installation. Simply connect the exhaust hoses to an open window
using the included window-exhaust kit. The unit's efficient
self-evaporating technology means there's no need to continually
drain the unit. In extremely humid conditions, however,
condensation may collect in the built-in tank if it can't evaporate
fast enough. The compressor will automatically shut-off if the tank
reaches capacity, and a "full" indicator will alert users to the
need for emptying the tank. Accessories include two exhaust hoses,
two hose adapters, two window-kit adapters, a window kit with four
sliding panels, two air intake and outlet covers, and an owner's
manual. Ideal for the home or office as an air conditioner, heater,

Generally comfortable, very easy to set up (once you figure out the
instructions) and as portable as promoted. Once the spa reaches top
temp 105 degrees on the indicator and you turn on the blower. You
get a spa experience that is as pretty impressive. The water
agitation is vigorous and well distributed around the spa.
The down side: The spa has no hot water jets. It uses a blower to
churn the water. The problem is the blower churns and cools the
water in the process. So after 15 minutes the spa has lost between
3 and 4 degrees. By the time you go through two of the automatic 15
minute cycles you drop from 105 to about 100 degrees. If you stay
in for 45 minutes the spa will cool to about 97-98 degrees and will
take 3-4 hours to return to 105.
If all you want is a quick 15-30 minute experience you'll probably
be quite satisfied. If you like long spas sittings or have a number
of family members who want to take turns. This rig will not do the
trick.
Other issues: The heating pump runs so quitely you can't tell it's
on. (very nice) But the blower is loud and sounds like a vacuum.
The sound of the bubbles sort of masks the blower but if you're
sensitive to sound it can be distracting. I found some other
reviews on the Spa2go and about half of the people complained about
the pump and the blower failing. I've had mine a month so far
running everyday 24/7 and so far no problems with either. The
reviews also said that getting customer service or replacement
parts is difficult. One person reported waiting three months and
still no part. I'm hoping I don't have to deal with this. There
also seems to be a few degree discrency between the actual water
temp and the indicated temp... About 2 degress less by my
thermometer. but I need to get another one to confirm this. Also,
the material used in the cover doesn't seem to be as thick as the
material in the body. Mine sprung two holes on the first day and
had to be patched. I now am very carful where I lay the cover.
Bottom line.. All things considered I would still make this
purchase because the price is at least a third of the cost of a
typical portable spa. If you think of this purchase as disposable
or a stepping stone to a better spa...you'll probably not be
disappointed. So not great but for $799 good enough.
Biggest disappointment was with how Amazon fulfilled the order..
Was supposed to ship overnight. Took over a week and at least 15
calls to customer service reps in the Philippines who had no
ability to contact the warehouse and find our why the product has
not shipped. after One lost shipment and many frustrating calls and
emails It finally made it into the UPS system for shipment... Most
surprising was that I was told that if I cancel the order it would
take up to 5 days to get the $799 credited back to my card.. So my
"overnight" purchase turned out to be a week in Amazon customer
service hell. Stresses me out just thinking about it.. think I'll
head to the spa after this.

(More customer
reviews)(4.5 stars) The PRO ES power analyzer met all
the advertising claims and, using a laptop, provides an excellent
window in to the power consumption characteristics of household
appliances. It is a moderately priced power analyzer that displays
the basic power characteristics of whatever you plug into it. I am
using it with Windows Vista Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron 1501
laptop, so it should run even better on your Windows XP
machine!
I haven't actually used the buttons on the front of the unit; the
really cool stuff is found in the Watts UP USB and Watts Up Real
Time software. Both applications sample power data at 1 second
intervals for the appliance plugged into the PRO ES unit. Each
sample is stored in a row of a spreadsheet within the Table tab of
the application as it is received. The Graph tab provides a line
graph of user-selected power measurements as described in Amazon's
product description. Both allow access to the PRO ES's settings
(sample rate, $/KWhr, etc.). Both applications stopped sampling
after about 30 minutes, but I have not investigated the reason.
Both provide good Help files which explain the unit's
functions.
The Watts Up USB Data Logger application is available without
charge from [....] . Due to Windows Vista Data Execution
Prevention, I had to download it on a different computer an sneak
it in the back door of my laptop (USB memory stick). What a
country!
The optional $70 Watts Up Pro Datalogger application adds timers to
the applications so you can take power measurements at a specified
time or on a specified schedule. It also adds an alarm function,
which can provide visible, audible, and email alert when any of the
measured data (amps, volts, watts, etc.) rises above or dips below
a specified threshold. There is no manual enclosed, but the Help is
good as noted above.
The enclosed manual is brief (two 8.5"x11" pages). Accuracy is
described as: "+/- 1.5% + 3 counts. Below 60 watts, amps and power
factor accuracy degrades." The half-star deduction was for lack of
technical documentation (circuit diagram, device fuse replacement,
how calibration is maintained)
It does not measure harmonic distortion, so it will not help you
diagnose power quality problems or impacts caused by harmonics
introduced by the appliance being tested. It does claim to measure
true RMS power without providing details. It also provides apparent
power (VA) and power factor, so reactive power (VAR) can be
calculated.
Here's some measurements:
"60W" Compact Fluorescent bulb: 12.5 Watts
"100W" Compact Fluorescent bulb: 22.4 Watts
Tivo: 10.5 watts in use, 5.5 watts standby
5-disc DVD carousel: 45 watts in use
32" JVC 1995 TV: 50 watts idle, 75 watts with blue screen, 75-105
watts in use. Power peaks during bright scenes, dips in dark
scenes. Speaker volume doesn't make any measureable difference.
Clock radio: 5 watts idle, 7.5 watts listening to FM radio
1500W space heater: 21 watts fan only, 754 watts on Low, 1463 watts
on Max.
The data can be stored to a tab-delimited .txt file and imported
into Excel using the Text-to-Columns wizard. It can also be copied
and pasted directly from either Watts Up application into Excel.
The graph can be sent to a printer.
If you have some electrical training and you are curious about the
actual power consumuption profile of devices up drawing up to 15A
(1800W), this unit and your laptop will make a nice power analyzer.
For me, it did everything I wanted with a simple data export
function and good presentation.

Watts Up Pro ES AC Power
Meter
What does it really cost to run that electric water heater or
energy-efficient refrigerator? Find out instantly by plugging it -
or any other electrical appliance - into Watts Up? PRO ES, which
instantaneously displays the wattage being used, as well as the
cost, in actual dollars and cents! The Watts Up? PRO ES measures
voltage and current information thousands of times a second, yet is
simple to use. Only six values are displayed in the main modes.
Additional information is available in the detail mode. Clear
English wording on the LCD is used to describe what is
displayed. The Watts Up? PRO ES has an incredibly fast response
time, enabling you to "see the surge" of power when appliances are
first turned on. Input is via a 6' electric cord, output is via an
outlet on top of meter. The peak value display captures this surge
so it's displayed even if it happens too fast to see live. The
minimum voltage display shows the line quality and voltage dips.
Minimum current and minimum watts can be used to monitor variances
in appliances that run continuously. Watts Up? PRO ES also measures
true RMS power (including power factor) which is what utilities
charge for. Watts Up? PRO ES offers all the features of the PRO
model, but includes additional memory to hold over 120,000 records.
And compared to the standard Watts Up?, this PRO ES and the Watts
Up? PRO include additional analysis tools like the Payback
Calculator, which automatically calculates the time required for a
new energy-efficient appliance to pay for itself. Monthly savings
are highlighted, so you may easily compare to the purchase price of
the new appliance.
