I know from experience that Organic Chemistry is hands down one of the hardest courses that any of you will ever take in college.  Unfortunately, it is one of those classes that you have to take if you plan on heading to medical school or attaining a degree in Biology.  If your teacher chose to use The Systematic Identification of Organic Compounds, then you will be receiving one of the best textbooks on the subject for your class.

The Systematic Identification of Organic Compounds has received good customer feedback and it is solely dedicated to organic chemistry.

What You’ll Learn From This Book:

Obviously you won’t learn everything from this textbook because your teacher probably won’t cover every section, but here are some of the main points of interest.

It’s tough giving pros and cons for a textbook because most of you reading this review will have to order this textbook even if it was terrible – thankfully it’s not.  It now has eight editions at the time of this writing, which brings up a good point.  Make sure you get the right version needed for your class.  Amazon, at the time of this writing, offers 11 formats for this textbook with one dating all the way back to 1956.  Needless to say, it could be easy to purchase the wrong version so watch out for that.

Shopping Tips

You can save a lot of cash by ordering books online because most local college bookstores have a knack for adding costs to books in order to make up for having to pay employees.  You can save even more cash by ordering used textbooks online.  Amazon has a bunch of used textbooks with decent discounts.  Check out their prices here.

Bottom Line

The HTC Magic is cool looking phone that comes packed with a ton features to carry out just about any task someone could need from their phone.  It’s powered by Android and it works with all of Google’s Applications meaning you can find local shops or take a virtual tour of Madrid.  The cons all came from customer feedback, not from our personal testing on this phone.  So we can’t guarantee the accuracy.  One customer complained that the HTC Magic requires a GMAIL account, and another noted that it was laggy at times.  Your experience may be completely different because there are two reviews at the time of this writing on Amazon.  Based on the weak cons that were presented, and the overall great pros that this phone has, I do believe this is a phone that most people will be very happy with.

PRICING

I did a little research into the pricing on this phone and found prices ranging from around $200 – $400.  I found Amazon had a reasonable price on this phone (see price here), but there are also close versions to this one that will come with various price tags.

Pedometer Buying Guide and Tips For Use

If you are wanting to lose weight, then one of the best things you can do is track your progress starting from day one.  A lot of people like to run and walk, but few actually track the number of steps they take each day.  It can be beneficial to do this rather than just track the distance that you run each day since you are taking steps throughout the day.  While you are doing a normal run, you may actually cut down on the number of steps you are taking depending on the amount of time you’ve spent running.  For this reason, simply tracking distance won’t be as helpful for you.

By hitting a certain number of steps each day, you can feel a lot more accomplished than just running around the block.  It can give you motivation to keep trying to break your records, and it can help you stay active throughout the day, rather than just during a short walk every night.

For all these reasons and more, a pedometer is the thing you need if you are wanting to track your steps every day.  There are actually some pedometers that come with special rewards programs.  These are usually run through companies, but the goal of the programs are to get you walking more to better your health.  Any extra motivator that can help you want to lose weight can only be beneficial for you.

If you aren’t familiar with what a pedometer is then it’s time to learn.  A pedometer is actually a sensor that works to track your bodily motion by tracking your steps.  Some pedometers only count steps, but there are some that can actually convert your footsteps into distance as well.

In pedometers, there are generally three different types of mechanisms that are used.  There are spring, hairspring, and accelerometer pedometers.  The most accurate of those three is the accelerometer, which is also known as piezoelectric pedometer.  Most pedometers use the hairspring mechanism, which can lose their strength after a few months of good use rendering them inaccurate.  The reason for using the hairspring is because it is much cheaper to make.  For this reason, it is recommended that you look for a pedometer that has an accelerometer or one with a quality coil spring.  After all, an inaccurate pedometer is useless.  So it may be smarter to purchase a quality one that will remain accurate for a much longer time.

There are some very high quality pedometers that come with a lot more features such as timers, clocks, speed estimators, pulse rate readers, calorie burning estimators, memory functions, and even stopwatches.  You’ll have to find one that has all the features you want most out of a pedometer.

High-End Pedometer:

If you are wanting a high end pedometer with a ton of functions then I recommend checking out the Suunto t6d Running Pack w/Foot Pod.  This pedometer is the best of the best when it comes to pedometers.  Included in this pedometer are an altimeter, heart rate monitor, and chronograph.  The technology in this pedometer can also give you sport laboratory style information about your particular oxygen consumption, respiratory rate, calories burned, excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (or EPOC), and your training effect.

Mid-Level Pedometer:

If you aren’t an olympic runner, but still want a pedometer that is higher in quality than a low-end pedometer then I recommend checking out the Polar FT4F Heart Rate Monitor Watch.  This pedometer watch actually tracks and tells you when your fitness levels are improving to help give you more confidence to keep working hard.  This pedometer features a heart rate monitor, calorie expenditure, exercise timer, and many other features.
