Waring MX1000R Professional 3.0 -Horsepower Blender

WaringMX1000RProfessional3.0-HorsepowerBlender

Just the size and weight of this blender indicates it is a professional grade workhorse. Weighing 15 pounds and standing 19 inches tall, with an oversized base measuring 9 inches square, the blender takes on a prodigious appearance. The supercharged three-horsepower motor and large blades will crush ice with ease and smoothly blend fruit drinks and soups. Only two speeds, high and low, are available, which should cover most needs. The pulse feature is ideal for creating large-particle foods such as homemade salsa and gazpacho. Squared in shape, the tough polycarbonate pitcher features a very generous nonslip handle and holds 64 ounces of cold liquid, less if hot. The flexible lid presses tightly in place and features a central clear cap that turns and releases to open for adding foods. Two paddle-shape switches make operation easy even if hands are wet. Pros:
Professional smoothies (exactly like Jamba Juice)
Very easy to clean
Polycarbonate carafe
Quick (does its business very quickly)

Cons:
Expensive (not everyone spends $400 on a blender)
Loud (not appropriate for apartment living)
Bulky (its significantly larger than a normal blender)

When I unpacked this blender I knew right away that it is a very serious machine. The base is very large and heavy duty with two large switches. One is for pulse and the other high and low speeds. The engine is rated at 3 horsepower and power cord is very think similar to the cord used on a high power drill or garage tool. The unit itself has a geared metal socket that matches a toothed metal gear built into the carafe. No plastic clutch that can break. The lightweight polycarbonate carafe sits on four posts, but will need you to hold it down with your hand on top for it to work correctly. The blade is a four prong item that is splayed out and has a broad flat blade on each tooth. The idea here is that a super sharp blade isint necessary as this thing spins very very fast.

I was quite startled when I hit the pulse. This thing spins up instantly and is VERY loud. I would almost say twice as loud as a conventional blender. That said it is also very high speed and pulverizes frozen items with impunity. I put in frozen strawberries and this pulverized them so well the seeds were not evident. Ice doesn’t stand a chance at all.

This device appears to be more powerful than the pro blenders used by the local smoothie place or a gym. It is every bit professional and I would challenge anyone to break this with ice or other items short of metal in the carafe.

Cleanup is a snap as everything is plastic or rubber. Gunk under the blades was also not an issue as you just fill the carafe with some water and a quick half second pulse cleans everything in the base.

I would caution people in that while this may be the last blender you will ever buy, it is not really a consumer appliance. This machine has as much in common with a standard blender as a chainsaw has with a hair clipper. I really like it but my neighbors hate it.

Five stars because it’s the Lamborghini of blenders and the smoothies are amazing. But like an exotic car, it’s not for everyone.

Waring HPB300BK Mega Mix Commercial Bar Blender, Black

WaringHPB300BKMegaMixCommercialBarBlender,Black

Powerful, sturdy, and frill-free, the Waring Mega Mix commercial bar blender puts function first and foremost. Equipped with a one-horsepower, commercially rated motor, the unit delivers quick ice crushing and consistent blending of drinks, desserts, soups, and sauces. Operation is as simple as it gets–one metal toggle controls the two speeds–and the four-angle blades turn up to 27,000 rpm. Designed for both hot and cold ingredients, the durable 48-ounce plastic container features a broad base for tip-resistance and a flexible lid with a removable insert. Markings in ounces and liters help you track recipes. Cooks accustomed to a tight connection between container and base may find the Warings fit unusual at first–the container simply rests on the clutch instead of locking on. Fitted with non-skid feet and a heavy-duty three-prong cord, the blender measures 6 inches in diameter and stands 16-1/2 inches high. (more…)

I bought this to replace a Kitchen Aid.
The Kitchen Aid uses a coupler on top of the motor which spins the blade that’s made out of rubber over metal which will break if you make lots of frozen fruit drinks. That’s what I had happen.
The Waring uses the same type of design, but the difference is that you can buy a replacement ($5.95) and put it on yourself with a wrench If it were to ever come apart. The Kitchen Aid has to be serviced, take apart the motor to get to it from the inside etc.
This Waring Blender is very powerful! It’s loud and spins very fast. It blends in a fraction of the time of others. It makes my old Kitchen-Aid seem like a child’s toy in comparison.

Note: You don’t load the thing up with frozen fruit or else it may just jam and won’t spin. Also you’re supposed to drop the ice in from the top while it’s running.

It’s much more obviously commercial through heft, simplicity of design and function and servicability.

It has only 2 speeds. Professional chefs say that’s all you need. it has a simple toggle switch, no multiple speed electronic gimmics. Just very functional.

I originally really wanted a glass container. It provided some heft to my old Kitchen-Aid and I thought that it was a sign of higher quality.
For a commercial application you would prefer the unbreakable quality of the polycarbon plastic as well as the lack of weight. It’s light as a feather.

One of the first things I noticed was that the container doesn’t lock to the base. I was originally concerned, but in a commercial setting you’d just keep your hand on it since it’s not going to take long to blend, and then you just quickly pull it off and pour.

I was also concerned that the blade being permenantly mounted inside the container would be hard to clean. (actually you can take it apart with a deep socket and extension, not for cleaning but blade replacement). My Kitchen Aids came apart for cleaning and I could put it in the dishwasher. I find the cleaning instruction are easy with the Waring, actually simple to clean you should just do it right away once your done mixing. Less time to clean and assemble.

What I see now with comparing this to the kitchen-Aid besides what I’ve already mentioned, is that the Kitchen-Aid looks simple through it’s visual design. It’s over designed through what appear to be valuable features which only make it more complicated. You have to do more work from cleaning, assembling and servicing.
The Waring on the other hand is bare bones functional. It was designed to blend and be easily serviced and quickly cleaned.

Waring PDM1 Drink Mixer

WaringPDM1DrinkMixer

I don’t know why the term “soda jerk” stuck, because anyone who whips up luscious shakes is anything but. This nifty Waring drink mixer proves that point, and is really easy to operate. First, slide the 28-ounce stainless-steel mixing cup up under the agitator and secure the lip under the cup holder, resting the bottom on the cup rest. Then, slide the control switch to low or high and that’s it. It’s versatile, too, and makes shakes or pancake batter, as well as whirring eggs and milk together for a perfect omelet. Best of all, its heavy-duty 2-speed commercial motor whips a cup of cream in less than a minute. And, if you’re feeling swank, it mixes up a Grasshopper or Brandy Alexander in a snap. –C. Reviews by A Customer

This solid (and weighty) piece of equipment does a great job of mixing juices with powdered supplements, as well as ice cream drinks, etc. It has a compact triangular footprint (About 7-1/4″ X 9″ inches at the widest points) and is very stable. It is, however, an extremely tall appliance (18-3/8″) which is too tall to fit under some overhead cabinets or on most shelves, so the buyer should check out storage options before purchasing. Although the stainless steel cup is 28 ounces, the maximum fill level is 16 ounces (and minimum is about 4 ounces–smaller quantities would not come in contact with the mixing disk.) This truly is very easy to clean – run with soapy water in the cup to wash and then with fresh water to rinse.

Waring Pro WPB05PK Professional Bar Blender, Pink

WaringProWPB05PKProfessionalBarBlender,Pink

This blender’s powerful, 360-watt, commercial-grade motor whips up margaritas and piña coladas, milk shakes and smoothies, soups and sauces, and crushes ice at either of its two speeds. Equipped with a 40-ounce glass container that fits onto a rugged brushed-chrome base, the blender looks great in any kitchen. Its stainless-steel blade assembly removes for cleaning, and the container is calibrated in both ounces and liters. The blender’s power cord extends a full 6 feet, permitting use in various settings: bar, kitchen, and patio. Fully assembled, the blender stands 15-1/2 inches high on a 7-inch-diameter base. The rubber lid with its plastic 2-ounce measuring insert and blade-assembly seal require hand washing, but the container, container bottom, and blade assembly are dishwasher-safe. –Fred Brack (more…)
