Automated external
defibrillators or AED are regarded to be valuable medical tools
which can be used in first aid treatment. The capacity of AED
includes analyzing a person's heart rate during emergency
situations to assess if the person has a condition which can be
counteracted using electric shocks to the heart. Upon standing
clear, an electric shock which is activated either by an
automatic mechanism or a press of a button, will be sent to the
patient. The chief feature of this equipment is that it can be
used even by ordinary people with no specific medical knowledge
due to its easy control.
Ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia are the
two types of cardiac arrhythmia that can be counteracted by the
equipment. Such conditions could cause lack of electric cardiac
activity which could be fatal for anybody. It takes about three
to five minutes for these conditions to cause permanent brain
and tissue failure. Hence, every minute counts and the proper
use of AED is highly necessary upon determining if any of the
two conditions are present.
In most cases, users activate a shock while in others, CPR is
done. An AED displays the information and also uses audio
command. All the important instructions should be followed by
the user. You may also learn some valuable information
through flickr.
You can see them in public places such as train stations and
you can also see them in some houses.
Qualified people in the use of AED suggest defibrillator
trainings for people so that they can better use this equipment
in emergencies. It is not hard to use but familiarity is
valuable for a higher rate of success and avoidance of
mistakes.
