Growing up in Michigan

Growing up in Michigan, I recall distinct stages of Pontiac development, but the totem head hood ornament always drew me as by some mystical force - at least to a young imagination interested in indian culture.

Pontiac, Michigan, named for an American Indian chief, rolled out its first car in 1900 at the Pontiac Spring and Wagon Works. Bought by General Motors, the increasingly popular brand was redesigned and presented at the New York Auto Show in 1926 with its now famous Indian Head Logo.

Pontiac Cars have been visible and audible on the country's roads and bridges since the beginning of the 20th century, tunneling the Chief's head through automobile traffic and American history.

similar to Bugatti Veyron

This car is very similar to Bugatti Veyron but can be purchased with infinitely smaller price than the Veyron model. To the Pontiac Trans Am model lacks just the style of Bugatti Veyron, yet the power doesn't lack. Norwegians will bring the car to America to break the record of 412 km per hour obtained by Shelby Ultimate Aero.

But in November this year Pontiac was leaving the scene of the auto industry. In the last two decades the car "with muscles" followed a decline, so it was sacrificed by General Motors that had to escape liquidation and to get out from under bankruptcy protection, writes the BBC.

Tuners say that the highest speed, in favorable conditions, would reach 435 km per hour, and acceleration from 0 Km to 100 km per hour that can be reached in 2.23 seconds.

The record holder

The record holder in speed is a Pontiac car created by a Norwegian tuning house called Polly Motorsport. It was tested at the Papenburg course, where Mercedes had tried the AMG sports series models. Norwegians have given "shame" to Germans by winning through a better performance with the Pontiac, and it was possible not due to the motor power but due to the route, reaching 407 km per hour, as the Bugatti Veyron model. However developers say that modified Pontiac can and will give more power. Out of this Pontiac Trans Am model body, which was built in 1986, has been left not too much: below lies just a V8 8.9-liter engine that produces 1407 horsepower. Yes, you read right, 1407 horsepower.

Pontiac was born in 1926 and became known as "the muscle" car, with powerful engine and huge consumption, as a power symbol of middle class cars in the United States of America. Pontiac wears the brand name from a Michigan town which was founded 84 years ago. These sports cars became famous with the Bonneville, GTO or Firebird Trans Am models and it reached the best sales in 1969 and 1978 which were close to one million units. And until today the fastest car with all legally prepared documents for riding on roads is still- Pontiac Trans Am, the one that was built 20 years ago.
