Falling in Love with the Sport

The Sport has been thoroughly upgraded for this year. This includes a brand new six-speed automatic transmission, a pair of pepped-up "Supercharged" engines and a few practical alterations to its interior. The Sport SUV definitely gives more value for your money because the model's fuel economy improves by 14 percent. The sporty Range Rover may be a giant but it does not mean it is sluggish on the road. The Terrain Response system which gives presets for a variety of driving conditions, coupled with the Rover design technology makes this model a smooth ride even with aggressive driving.

It is not hard to fall in love with the Sport because it lives up to its promises quite well and does an astonishing job of being both a practical all-terrain machine and a luxury accommodation. This year's upgrade coupled with the tradition of reliability of the Land Rover brand for over half a century definitely delivers an irresistible package.

A Mix of Practicality and Luxury

Maurice Wilks was responsible for building and launching the British company's first off-roader back in 1948. Wilks design was reportedly inspired by an American jeep he had ridden called the Willys MB US army jeep. Wilks was in his farm in Newborough, Anglesey at the time when he discovered the need for a utility vehicle for farmers and decided to invest in making an off-road utility vehicle.

Maurice and Spencer Wilks (the general manager of Rover at that time) made the first Land Rover prototype by using a Jeep chassis with a Rover gearbox and engine that still made use of a Jeep transmission. The Land Rover brand is not only a pioneer series specializing in civilian all-terrain, rugged utility vehicles, but also a brand that can be shown in the most high class and luxurious venues.

The British Countryside

I live in the British Countryside, which isn't the most extreme or dangerous environment on Earth, but can throw up some tricky obstacles in the form of floods, felled trees and rough terrain. A small hatchback would fail on the tricky roads I have to navigate on a daily basis, as would a speedy sports car. What I need is a strong and trusty 4X4 and when it comes to this particular type of car, there really can be only one choice; a Land Rover.

When it comes to choosing yourself a new vehicle, there are a number of different categories which buyers use to define the right choice for them, the chief few of which being style, speed and practicality. From this list of three considerations I believe there is one important factor missing. For me, the single greatest influence on my new car decision is definitely versatility. For me a car needs to be extremely versatile and easily able to cope with whatever situation Mother Nature, or myself, throws at it.

Entertainment for the Whole Family

The Sport is quite an expensive buy and although Land Rover has done a good job by improving fuel efficiency, it cannot fully replace a family SUV in terms of maintenance. It does, however, have a few features that may keep the kids of cost-is-no-object parents at bay for most family trips.

Car entertainment options can be expanded to include a DVD player with a twin screen rear entertainment system. For long trips that particularly exhaust parents, being able to pop-in a DVD for the kids is a godsend. This device's downfall though lies in its position. When installed, it is located in an obscure, tiny access panel which is hardly noticeable.

Smooth Driving in Any Terrain

The Sport is no doubt a luxury car. Judging from its sleek finish and aerodynamic LED design, it is easy to overlook that the car can withstand a variety of unforgiving roads. Like other sports utility vehicles under the Land Rover marque however, the fact still remains that the Sport is a very reliable and very powerful SUV.

The sporty luxury car may look like a behemoth of a tank but it certainly does not feel like one. Designed to be highly adaptive, there are a number of systems equipped on the car which will help optimize the car's performance under any road condition. With a simple turn of the dial, the car will automatically choose car presets to adapt to a number of different terrains.
