Moderate alcohol
consumption has benefits, but the keyword is “moderate”. Why is
it when you over consume alcohol you experience memory loss? The
harmful effects of alcohol abuse are well known in our society.
Have you ever experienced memory loss because of over
intoxication? You most certainly have heard stories from people
who drank too much and don't remember conversations they had, or
in some instances how they even got home.
For years the French have claimed the benefits
of red wine consumption to explain their low rate of heart
disease. There is a less well-known benefit to moderate
consumption of alcohol, that it may in fact be beneficial to
cognitive function. Medical research is providing growing
evidence that moderate alcohol consumption can actually lower
memory loss and the risk of cognitive decline such as
dementia.
People who drink one alcoholic drink per day appeared to have a
reduced risk of memory loss. However, people who consume
14 or more alcohol drinks per week increase their risk of
dementia. It seems that a diet that is good for the heart
apparently is also good for the brain. Research shows that
moderate alcohol consumption lowers the risk of coronary heart
disease in older individuals. Many experts believe that moderate
alcohol consumption might help protect the brain in the same way
it protects the heart.
The reason for this is alcohol prevents blood clots from
forming and raises the levels of HDL (the good cholesterol). These
factors alone help to maintain a quality blood flow to the brain
and heart. Researchers in the lab have shown that low doses of
alcohol will actually increase the neurotransmitters in the brain
while high doses of alcohol do just the opposite, and interfere
with memory.
I'm not recommending anyone who doesn't drink to begin drinking as
a way to
prevent memory loss. I am clearly stating here is
there is some positive clinical studies that show moderate alcohol
consumption 1 to 2 drinks per day can possibly benefit not only
your heart but your brain. We must not forget there are risks to
alcohol consumption even in moderation. Consult your health care
provider to make certainly that there will not be any adverse
effects on medication you may be taking. Women should be aware of
the increased risk of breast cancer.
There are many ways to prevent memory loss and although I don't
condone the use of alcohol I felt my readers are entitled to all
the information available to help them make their own choices.

How does our memory truly
operate? Before you can find out how you can
improve your memory I believe
is vital that
you recognize how
reminiscences
are formed. How our brain in
fact acquires details
and merchants it as
memories is truly a interesting issue.1.
Acquiring
new details
You'll
find periods
when you are required to memorize specific pieces
of information.
So as for the
brain to shop this
data like a
memory, you will have
to concentrate.
You have to focus on the data that you
wanting to memorize. The brand new data
that you're retaining
travels by means of
pathways within the
brain by way of
neurotransmitters. The hippocampus part of brain encodes this information and decides exactly where to Shop it. two. Long-term reminiscences
In order
to improve your memory you'll
need to concentrated while obtaining
the brand new data you're looking to don't
forget the hippocampus of
the brain will retailer
this info like a long-term memory. Memories are more quickly saved in your
long-term memory if you have
some form of emotional
connection towards the
details.three. RetrievalIf
you desire to
retrieve the saved data your brain undergo the exact
same approach
of retrieving the information
since it did when it stored it.For this reason
if you need
to recall specific
information more regularly
it becomes considerably simpler, because
the pathways to this data are already
utilised usually.4.
DeteriorationUnfortunately as
we develop
older the hippocampus a part
of the brain gets to be
very susceptible and begins to deteriorate as we age. This
affects our ability to each retain
and retrieve data.
Specialists
feel this can be
as a result of loss of neurons which consequently impacts
the exercise with the neurotransmitters to perform their function
appropriately.five.
Plenty of theoriesAnother idea for
this deterioration of one's
memory is always that
as we age we turn into
significantly less active. Because of
this reduction in activity there
exists significantly
less blood movement
to the brain than there was when
we ended up younger and much
more lively.
These modifications even so only seemed to slow down a person's ability to retrieve and store new details, instead
of actual memory
reduction. Actually, the
majority of the factual info that somebody has gathered above the a long
time stays largely intact.
Age obviously will play
a considerable portion in memory loss even so
by producing easy behavioral modifications within
our daily pursuits we are able
to assist decide our individual fate there exists plenty
of information obtainable to aid
get about the appropriate route
to healthful life style .The
advantages of a wise
workout method combined
with a wholesome ingesting
diet program won't only prolong our lives but additionally help improve your memory, and retain
our old reminiscences.Many
people believe that they have bad
reminiscences numerous periods
the effectiveness of memory
is immediately connected to how we go about storing the
memory. This may possibly
be due to the fact you don't have these successful
techniques where you are able
to not simply acquired
the knowledge, but the way in
which your brain processes it. Nonetheless, except
if you might be suffering from some kind of condition, problem or damage, then
you need to hold the ability to
improve your memory.

Many experts believe that an
important aspect to memory improvement is memorization. In school
teachers assigned memorization assignments so that students would
remember important dates, historical speeches, or vital math
formulas. Many students hated memorization assignments but the
truth is that memorizing is a good way to exercise the brain.
Many people leave school and never look back but most people
would be wise to go back to their lesson plans.
Many people believe that as
they age that naturally they use the ability to remember and
actually blame their loss of memory on their advancing age but
this is not true. The truth is that age has nothing to do with
one’s ability to remember. The reason why people start to forget
is because people stop exercising their mind which like a muscle
has to be exercised.
There is an old phrase that
says, use it or lose it, which means that if a muscle is not used
it will grow weak. When the brain is not challenged the brain
will stop functioning at full capacity. This is why brain
exercises are important when it comes to improving the ability to
remember. Exercises can be fun contrary to what many people
believe.
There are many simple
exercises that a person can use to improve his
ability to remember. For instance, it is easy to practice
memorization using a magazine or book. Read aloud a simple
paragraph of no more than five sentences. Do not try to memorize
too much text in order to prevent being overwhelmed.
After reading the paragraph
close the book or magazine and try to remember the first sentence
and say it aloud. Do not worry that it is difficult to remember a
simple sentence without looking at the book or magazine because
memorization is a learned skill. One gets better at memorization
the more one practices her lessons. People are often surprised to
discover that with a little effort that they are able to memorize
great amounts of text.
Learn one sentence each day
of a simple paragraph adding a new sentence each day until the
whole paragraph can be recited without referring to the text.
Most people find that at the end of a week that they are able to
memorize text much more quickly and are able to retain what they
memorize for longer periods of time. This is because they are
training and strengthening their brains to remember words in a
particular order and sequence.
Some people take acting
classes in order to improve their memory skills. Actors are
responsible for learning their lines and have to spend a lot of
time memorizing their script. Some actors are naturally skilled
at memorization whereas some actors simply have to put in extra
time and effort memorizing their lines.
Anyone, no matter age, can
take steps that will lead to memory improvement. Memorization
skills can be improved with a use of magazine or book by
memorizing simple paragraphs. Some people take acting lessons to
improve their memory because actors have to memorize their lines
and having to learn lines is a good incentive to exercise one’s
brain.

Improving your memory is relatively simple.
We require our brains to complete many functions at the same
time. Within seconds, we expect our brain to recall information
such as telephone numbers dates people's names. However our brain
sometimes does not retrieve these memories when we need them, and
we want to know why.
There are those embarrassing times when you've forgotten a
person's name that you just met, or worse yet are reminded by
someone you’re being introduced to that in fact, you already met
them last week. You ask a coworker how their spouse is doing, and
you are suddenly reminded that they had passed away, and you
attended the funeral. You better start improving your memory in a
hurry.
These can truly be embarrassing times, and we tend to blame it on
many different reasons. As we become older, we tend to blame
these memory lapses on growing old. However research has proven
that the mind can continue to expand at any age, it's like the
muscles in our body if you don't exercise them they get weaker.
If you want to start improving your memory you can start at any
age.
Having a poor memory can be extremely frustrating especially when
it causes problems at work or when you start forgetting phone
number and pin number. We have all done this: misplaced our
glasses or misplaced our keys. Have you gone to the grocery store
to pick up a few items and managed to forget one or two items.
When you come out of the store or mall, and don't remember
exactly where you parked your car, and we have all done this, but
it is no reason to worry. How many times have you seen other
people wandering in parking lots looking for their car?
Many times we blame ourselves for having a poor memory when in
fact; the problem is we just weren't paying attention. There are
so many distractions going on in our lives and we take so many
things for granted. You may have misplaced your keys because you
were reading the paper when you walk in and put them down.
Perhaps you were deep in conversation with someone on the phone.
There are so many things we do on automatic pilot. When we
can't remember where we placed something we blame it on a poor
memory or as we get older we blame it on old age.
Let's discuss some of the simple things we can do to improve our
memory. When you're introduced to someone, you shake their hand
and say something like “very nice to meet you”. The next time
you're being introduced to someone use their name” very nice to
meet you John”. “John it's a pleasure to meet you”. Another
terrific habit to get into is when you're shaking that person's
hand and repeat their name look into their eyes and try to
remember their eye color.
This will get your brain working; don't be concerned about what
other people are thinking about you at the moment you're being
introduced. Take the time to connect with them repeat their name
look into their eyes; you will be surprised how easy it will
become to remember their name.
Exercise your mind here is the simplest exercise ever, when you
get up in the morning shift your eyes from left to right for 10
seconds researchers believe this helps connect the left and right
hemisphere your brain. Brush your teeth with your weak hand, when
you get good try shaving with the weak hand. Read, do puzzles in
the newspaper, get some exercise, learn to relax, and most of all
pay attention.
There are hundreds of tips and mind expanding exercises available
on my website. I am also giving away a mini course that will
change your life, by
improving your memory.

We
rely on our memories to get us through our daily functions we
take our memory for granted. We go to work, because shopping at
the grocery store we park our cars and will rely on our memories
to get us to and from all these places. But unfortunately when
our memories start to fail us we start making excuses. We blame
the shortcomings on old-age or just having a bad memory. The
truth is anyone can learn ways to improve the memory and age has
little or nothing to do with. By simply modifying your behavior
you can
improve your memory.
Many times people don't even give themselves the opportunity to
remember things, when they are asked to remember something like a
long phone number they simply say there's no way I'm going to
remember that. The first thing you want to do if you really want
to improve your memory is stop being so lazy. Bad memory begins
when you think you no longer are able to remember things well.
Everyone is capable of improving their memory and simply by
making a few behavior changes you can enjoy the benefits of a
good memory. Experts agree that by simply paying more attention
is half the battle to improving your memory. Instead of believing
you have a poor memory, convince yourself and others that you
have a very good memory. This will force you to start paying more
attention to the things you wish to remember.
You can start
improving your memory by making little changes in
your daily behavior, perhaps when you're at a restaurant you can
make an extra effort to remember your server's name. When you're
introduced to someone for the first time, shake their hand look
them straight in the eye and repeat their name. Try not to be
distracted when you're meeting someone for the first time, take a
few seconds to identify with that person, and try to remember not
only their name but perhaps their eye color. The color of the
shirt or blouse, it takes your short-term memory 8 seconds to
connect to your long-term memory. So often we meet people for the
first time and seconds later we can't remember their name. If you
take a few seconds when you're first introduced you will at least
be giving your memory a chance to recall a person's name.
It will take less effort than you think to improve your memory.
Imagine yourself being confident enough too referred to a new
acquaintances by their first name because you've taken the time
to retain after hearing it for the first time. You can easily
train your brain to be able to remember new information easily.
Your short-term memory allows you to remember things for about an
hour or less. The less you make a conscious effort to transfer
information from your short-term memory to your long-term memory
your brain will discard the information stored in a short period
of time.
Anyone who wishes to improve his memory and learn how the brain
stores and retrieves information can visit my blog, and sign up

There are many fun things you can do every day to help
improve your memory. Do you want to be able to
start recalling information without a struggle or without
becoming frustrated, then perhaps you should start exercising
your brain. One of the simplest ways to improve your memory on a
regular basis is to play a game or partake in an activity.
You may find this hard to believe but your brain is like a muscle
it needs exercise or it will become fat and lazy. You can use the
activities you do every day to exercise your brain and improve
your memory. Finding creative things to do to exercise your brain
will be very easy. While you're watching television try answering
the questions on the game show if you have a DVR attached to your
television pause the show and look up the answer.
You can exercise your mind by doing puzzles in the newspaper
every day. Just reading the newspaper is graded mind exercise
every newspaper has different puzzles, if you come across a
puzzle that's too difficult take the time to research the answers
this is a great exercise in the knowledge you gain is just an
extra bonus. When you're watching your favorite program on TV
during a commercial try to recall what the different actors were
wavering. When the program resumes you can see if you are right
or not.
You can improve your memory by exercising your brain with the
activities that you do every day, by just simply paying more
attention to little details. Practice
improving your memory every chance you get you can
look at almost anything as a chance to practice these memory
games.
While driving to work in your car why not learn a new language,
in place of listening to the same music you always listen to on
the radio you could slip in at CD and turn your car into a
virtual university. You could turn wasted time while driving into
productive time and exercise your mind at the same time doing
these kind of things forces your brain to concentrate.
You can
improve your memory with a game or an activity,
and improve your life at the same time. It takes less effort than
you think to improve your memory. The key is to imagine what you
want and set your mind to achieve that goal.

Exercising boosts your strength, and stimulates
your memory. But can physical exercise actually increased
your memory too? There are both physical and
mental exercises you can perform to increase and stimulate your
memory and keep your mind in top shape. Here are a few physical
exercises as well as some mental tips and tricks to give your
memory the boost it needs. The mind is a muscle, and just like
any other muscle, you must continue to exercise it, if you want
to keep it strong. There are some basic rules to any workout
which must be followed with your mind. You must remember to warm
up, then work out and finally, cool down. Let's walk through the
typical workout process for the mind.
Physical Warm-up
Physical exercise, gets your blood flowing, and is great for
increasing blood flow to your brain and, improves your memory.
But there are specific physical exercises you can do to get your
mind working harder just with any workout; the warm up is a
critical part of the overall exercise session. The best and
strongest physical trainers understand the importance of a warm
up to keep the body healthy and limber. Without a proper warm up,
exercise can actually hurt you. The warm up is meant to get your
muscles used to the movements they are about to make.
Stimulate
Exercises involving balance
stimulates the
memory by requiring the mind to work to stabilize the
body. Your brain becomes a direct path for each limb. Examples of
exercises like this would include using a balance ball, a
standing on one leg. Having a good warm-up routine can make your
memory work as it is supposed to, and be able to recall numerous
pieces of data and details. You want to set up your own specific
warm-up routine to get yourself in the proper mental state to do
you work. A quick and simple way to warm up your memory is to
read a book bring out some old greeting cards you received in the
past, visualize the occasion the card was sent for and the people
who sent it.
Oxygen
Peak brain function requires large amounts of oxygen, exercise
increases your blood flow to the brain. All sportsce sports, like
running or swimming, force the body to take in more oxygen. When
this oxygen gets to your brain, it is like increasing the power
to a light bulb. With this oxygen, your brain can function better
and actually store more information.
Close Your Eyes
While it may not be as much of a physical exercise as it is
mental
stimulation, doing physical movements in a different manner
will actually increase your memory. This challenge keeps your
brain from getting complacent by forcing you to use your
faculties in unusual ways. You might also try showering, getting
dressed, or making a bowl of cereal with your eyes closed. The
actual workout is where you begin to gain strength. As your mind
is used to its full capacity, you increase your memory by leaps
and bounds. With any workout, the trick to a steady increase in
strength is by constantly confusing your muscles, so they
constantly have to work hard in different functions. When you
force your mind to undergo this training, enormous strength
potential is released.
Mnemonics:
Utilizing nonsense is another way to help boost your memory. By
making up sentences or silly mnemonics to go along with some
information, your mind will remember facts based on nonsense.
Some people use this technique to remember directions or a series
of events, and might be helpful for your thoughts and ideas. Once
you have worked out, you need to bring your energy levels down
slowly. When you fail to cool down your physical muscles, lactic
acid builds up and renders your muscles useless. When it comes to
your mind, it works the same way. By constantly using your mind,
it can become tired and worn out.
Whether you are doing physical exercise, or working a crossword
puzzle, you can reap the benefits, if you are diligent. As with
any good muscle, the more the brain is worked out, the stronger
it will become. Giving you a chance to cool down with some light
reading, practicing a little yoga or even a night on the town is
a great way to prevent mental burnout. For best results, follow
this three-step process for your next brain workout: Warm up.
Work out. Cool down, and
stimulate your memory.
