this is just a filter. Installation is very easy and contains
everything you need. It even comes with a saddle valve for tapping
into the water supply, although I wouldn't recommending using that
since they just become problematic over time. I used a regular ball
valve taped into the water supply (although this is more work). The
other nice thing is this one comes with an air purge on top to get
the all of the air out of the top. The one improvement would have
been to put in a small drop line off this purge valve because when
you get all the air out you will know because water sprays all over
the place if your not paying attention. Still it's better than not
having one. It comes with the a tool to screw on the filter base
and you need to make sure it's tight. I was surprised how tight I
needed to get it to prevent it from leaking at that point, but not
a big deal.
The only real major negative is the water tap that comes with this
is just an ugly white plastic piece of crap. I had a purchased a
separate water tap to go with my kitchen faucet. I wish they would
sell this with out the water tap because mine went right in the
trash.

(More customer

In-Sink-Erator units and I will not install this model again. It
has a very poor connection between the hot water unit and the
dispenser. The nylon nut that secures the 1/4 copper tube to the
hot water unit does not work. Or should I say it does not work when
you are lying on your back under a sink with limited mobility! I
called 1-800-558-5700 and asked them what to do and they said to
keep tightening it until it stops leaking. The directions however
say tighten it finger tight and then turn it with a wrench no more
than 3 turns or it may crack the unit. And by the looks of the
water jacket it will crack.
This is a new design the older models sealed this connection. I
guess in the efforts to save 12 cents on a brass fitting quality
has gone out the window.

fairly quickly "about a week earlier than they had estimated".
Setup was fairly simple, but had a few kinks. I had to reseat the
tower hosing on the plastic ring it was mounted on as it was
crooked, and the tap handle was missing. I was'nt very angry with
the missing handle what I did was going to a local store and bought
a "Shift Knob" that was really nice for my handle. The system came
with the empty tank and the gauges I needed, I had to search
alittle for a place that would fill that tank. When I did find a
place to fill it it only cost about 15 bucks. so 25 bucks later I
had a functioning kegerator. Overall I am very happy, who would'nt
when they can have a nice cold draft at home?

(More customer
reviews)I got this RO unit for my apartment because I
don't have counter space for another appliance and undersink
installation is an expensive hassle. I thought it fit the bill
perfectly.
First thing that happened was that it shipped without the faucet
adapter that was supposed to be included. When I requested that, it
did fit on my faucet, but then I discovered my water pressure
wasn't enough for the gauge to even get up to the "operating"
range. OCCASIONALLY at random points during the day or night it
might just pass the "operating" line but it is unpredictable.
I tried to use it anyway since I spent the money and I figured some
filtering is better than none, but it takes about half an hour to
fill a liter bottle. In addition, the diverter valve doesn't work,
at least on mine. If I leave the valve on my faucet, it runs a
trickle through the RO unit too. Considering that the instructions
warn not to run hot water through the unit or it will completely
ruin the membrane, I couldn't leave the diverter valve on my faucet
since I use hot water for dish washing, etc.. That means every time
I want to use the unit, I have to remove the faucet aerator with a
wrench, attached the RO diverter valve with a wrench (has to be
tight or it will leak unfiltered water into your container despite
the rubber seal), wait half an hour for a drink, remove the
diverter valve and replace the faucet aerator for normal dish
washing, etc..
All in all it is so much of a hassle I just don't use it and it is
currently wasting space in a cabinet. If you truly don't have the
space for any type of normal RO unit (e.g. in an RV) then this
might be your only option. If you want filtered water that you
don't have to fight for, then I would recommend a better designed
unit.

working great. I had no problems installing it at all despite of
the fact that I am a woman:-) It is big enough for 2 people and I
had even washed blankets in it. It is easy to wheel it all over the
place as long as you don't have carpets in the bathroom or the
kitchen:-) I thought that it will be noisy but is actually quiet
and it is easy to connect to the sink. The only problem I had
(which is more of a problem with my sink faucet than with the
machine) is that sometimes it leaks from the faucet but once I
replaced the rubber circle inside of the connector it was great.
Before the replacement I just stopped the water flow once the
machine was full and washing. And I have a portable dishwasher
which connects to the same sink using the same adapter so there is
no need to change it if you have more than one appliance.

(More customer
reviews)I estimate that I have used this washer for 4
loads each week since buying from J&R in early October, 2006. I
live in a studio in New York and bought this one because (1) it has
a sink adapter, which the front-loading 14.3-lb model didn't seem
to include and (2) at 17.5 inches wide/deep, it fit through my
bathroom door, which the front-loading 14.3-lb model (at 20.5
inches wide) wouldn't.
Out of the box, you have to install an included metal pan at the
bottom. Install it so that it is convex: there's a reason that the
legs are so high. One of the problems I had during installation was
that one of the screws holding this metal pan to the body comes
very close to a clamp holding the gooseneck drain tube as it exits
the body. The clamp had fallen out of position, and the end of the
screw is close to where the clamp goes. I don't think I was ever in
danger of puncturing the drainage tube, but it's something to watch
out for.
You need a place to hang the drainage tube, between 31.5 and 40
inches high. The machine cannot fill the tub with water to a height
above the maximum height of the drainage path.
On my first two loads, I made a puddle of water on the ground.
There were two reasons for this: the first time, the water supply
hose was not tightened sufficiently at the machine end, and water
dribbled out and behind the machine until I figured out what was
going on. With that tightened (I used a wrench), there was no leak.
On my second load, I put in too many clothes (more about that
later) and there was a water-resistant nylon jacket on top. Just
before the very first spin cycle, some water was cupped on that
jacket and did not drain out with the wash water. When the tub
started to spin, that water came out. I never loaded that many
clothes into the washer again, and haven't had any spills
since.
During a normal wash cycle, the machine does the following steps
three times: fill, agitate, agitate, drain, spin, drain, spin,
drain, spin. The second and third iterations are called the "rinse"
cycle. Often, the water out of the drain is still bubbly after the
second spin. (I use a quarter capful or less of All no-fragrance 3x
liquid concentrate.) So, I run another rinse cycle. If the machine
detects an unbalance condition during a spin, it will stop, fill
the tub with water, and agitate in an attempt to redistribute the
clothes before draining and spinning again. I think the machine
does this two or three times before giving up and beeping ten times
to alert the user of the unbalance condition.
During the agitation process, this machine tends to intertwine long
or extended parts of clothing --- shirt sleeves and socks --- into
braid-like knots, which often trigger the unbalance condition
during the subsequent spin. For example, when I wash four or five
long-sleeved shirts together, I always have to untie and separate
two or three of the shirts where the sleeves have been twisted
together. I think good washing is where the wash water can touch
every surface of the clothes, and being tied together prevents
this. These problems probably would not happen with a front-loading
washing machine.
What is the capacity of this washer? Well, I would say:
2 bath towels; or
2 pairs of jeans or pants; or
2 sweatshirts and 1 pair of sweat pants; or
4 long-sleeved oxford shirts; or
6 small-size undershirts; or
8-12 medium-size boxer underwear.
That's at the "high" water level. You may be able to load more than
that, but I think the clothes won't get as clean, and the machine
will probably reach more unbalance situations.
I once tried to wash a terrycloth robe. The robe fit in the tub,
but the machine always got to an unbalance condition when it tried
to spin. I think it's sort of like trying to run a centrifuge with
only one tube. Sometimes after the spin cycle I find a sock or a
shirt stretched across the middle of the tub, instead of having
been thrown centrifugally against the tub walls.
Using my DSC-P71 digital camera in the multi-burst 30
frames-per-second mode and a light and a dark shirt in the washer,
I estimate the initial spin at 450 rpm (light shirt passed once
every 4 frames) and a final spin at 780 rpm (light shirt passed
about 6.5 times in 0.5 seconds - about once every other frame). If
I hang the clothes in my studio (not in the bathroom), then they
dry in about one day or less, depending on the humidity. It takes
much longer if I hang them in the bathroom.
Update (November 2007): This machine is still running. After a
year, here are my comments:
After getting tired of the drain tube clamp falling out, I made two
small wedges out of a folded-up credit card to hold the clamp in
place.
I made a third spill (and this one was a big one): once, the
gooseneck drain hose came apart from the U-shaped drain-pipe hook.
So, now I check that connection every week or so.
I always run an extra rinse cycle (or two). If I have time, during
the spin cycles, I lower the drain tube to allow more sudsy water
to drain out. (This is a high-maintenance tactic, though --- it can
lead to floods if you're not careful.) Some types of clothes absorb
and retain more water (and detergent) than others, and my skin is
better after more of the detergent is rinsed out. You can take
just-washed clothes from a standard washing machine and re-rinse
them here to check how much detergent is left.
Update (April 2008): In the past two months, I have had two more
major spills. Both times, it seems that the water-level sensor got
stuck and failed to tell the inlet valve to shut off. When this
happens, the water overflows the tub and comes out the bottom of
the machine. (Usually, you hear a click when the water level is
reached, and then the valve shuts off; but in these cases, the
first click never occurs.)
Now that I live in an apartment building with a good laundry room,
I use this washer mostly for small items: socks, underwear,
undershirts.
Update (April 2009): It turned out that the water-level sensor had
failed. The sign of impending failure is that the sensor will
sometimes fail to close the valve when set to "high", but will
always close at "low" and "medium" water levels. Then, "medium"
will stop working and the valve will only close when the water
level is set to "low". Since the manufacturer's warranty had
expired, I had the part replaced under my credit-card-based
extended warranty program. Haier suggested two authorized repair
operators; one of them said that they didn't service this model.
The other did, and charged $85 (diagnostic service call) plus $60
(labor) plus $21.52 (part). The part had to be ordered and took
about five weeks (!) to arrive.

Pulsator Wash with Stainless Steel Tub
Perfect for a small apartment or dorm room, this compact pulsator
washing machine will help save on money and time wasted at the

holds up to 6-3/5 pounds of laundry, and it connects to the kitchen
sink in just five steps thanks to the included quick-connect sink
adapter. Even more, the washer's smart technology and electronic
controls allow for selecting the wash setting and water level to
ensure a perfect load every time. Choose from three water levels
based on the size of the load--save water by choosing a lower level
for smaller loads. The unit's standard wash cycles include normal,
heavy duty, whites, soak, and delicate; its special wash cycles
include hand wash, sanitary, and unique or exclusive. The washing
machine delivers a maximum spin speed of 740 rpm and its cycle
status lights, estimated time-remaining display, and end-of-cycle
signal provide added convenience. Other thoughtful details include
a removable lint filter, a side strap for easy mobility, and an
adjustable leveling leg to balance the machine if it rests on
uneven ground. Fill and drain hoses come included. The washing
machine measures 17-1/4 by 17-19/32 by 29-29/32 inches and carries
a one-year warranty.

(More customer
reviews)I wanted to give the Aqua-Pure a try before
spending a fortune on a reverse osmosis system that would also take
up all the space under the sink. To my relief, and a bit of a
surprise, it actually works. I can compare the unfiltered to the
filtered and there is a huge difference. And, it takes up little
space.
Water companies have different issues to deal with in various areas
of the country. Not far from here, my mother had a terrible iron
problem, and I have none to deal with. I would imagine that a
simple system like the AP200 might work in some areas and not
others. If the water is really terrible, then perhaps only a more
complex system would work and maybe not even then.
So, it works perfectly for me, but I do have issues. First, it is
really expensive for what it is! This is a simple plastic device,
two pieces and a gasket. $92 is a lot for that.
The filter screws into the housing. Since it is plastic, I have
always been careful, but once I did find that the filter had broken
off at the threads. This required taking everything out and doing
something clever to remove the broken-off part from the
housing.
Did I screw it in too tightly? Hmmm, I'm pretty careful about such
things. I would hate to think it broke from normal water pressure
or some sort of surge. I have no water hammer problem. In any case,
it isn't very durable and takes too much care to install the filter
cartridge.
The better news is that the filters come two in a box. Amazon's
description makes it seem like you are only getting one for almost
$50. Since they last me at least a year, that is only $25/year,
which isn't too bad.
As with any filter, you do have to tap into the plumbing under the
sink. That gets you into the world of plumbing and those who have
been there know that there is little standardization and lots of
options.
Again, as with any filter, you really have to use a separate
faucet. Running all your cold water through this filter would
shorten its life considerably and at only 2 GPM, the flow would be
really slow.
I put my system in when I changed the sink and I bought one that
had a hole in it for a separate faucet. Some homes have the faucets
coming through the counter, but drilling would still be
necessary.
In my area, and my circumstances, the Aqua-Pure turns out to be a
fine option. We don't buy bottled water, the coffee and ice cubes
are better and we use it to cook in. The regular water goes to the
dishwasher and for sink duty.
So, I think it works just fine in most situations, takes up little
room and is easier to install that some other systems. It is too
expensive and fragile to get the coveted five stars, so it gets
three.

I think they should be, unit consistently breaks or has a problem
every few months. The white plastic filter housing has broken twice
(see photo) and I've had to replace the faucet/dispenser at least
once because it constantly dripped or even poured. I am now on hold
to get another part since I am a "Water 4 Life" subscriber for
about $100 year - which includes two filter changes and warranty.
Eventually I will probably spend the time and money to get a better
unit.
UPDATE 2008-11-29: After the water filter housing broke a third
time, I requested that they send me another one for free which they
did (no shipping charge) (I am a Water4Life customer). They seem to
have redesigned this part so hopefully it will not break again.

(More customer

correctly. You will have serious problems with foaming beer because
of 3 defects.
1. Temperature regulator does not sense liquid temperature. It is
also located too close to the cooling plate and needs to be moved
further away to get a more accurate reading.
2. The tower does not flow cool air and ambient temperature inside
is much higher than it needs to be
3. The spigot is also non-conventional and doesnt encourage an even
flow
As far as I know, mine doesnt make any noises at all so I'm not
sure what the other review is referring to or if they have a unit
that isnt working correctly.
All of the above problems can be corrected.
Temperature -
a) Purchase a new regulator and bypass danby's.
b) Move the sensor away from its current position and put it in
water to get a more accurate "liquid" reading.
Tower - Install a small fan to circulate air into the tower
Spigot - Replace with a standard one
Unfortunately for Amazon reviews, i cant link to other information
that will help you do all of this, but if you search for the name
of the unit, links that will help, show up very high in the

i wish the part that holds the faucet to the counter was not so

(More customer
reviews)Having grown tired of the bottled water scene;
the expense, the drain on the environment from shipping and all the
plastic containers, I was looking for a high quality product that
was simple to setup. I also wanted something that I could take with
me on extended trips to guarantee I always have high quality pure
water available.
This product has thus far fit the bill. Reverse-osmosis is
considered one of the best filtration systems available, filtering
many more particles than charcoal, as well as many heavy metals and
other elements frequently found in municipal water systems. While,
I haven't used it anywhere other than my apartment, it was very
easy to install and fits all of my current needs.
The only issue I have is that the dispenser spout attaches directly
to the unit, making it difficult to store or mount out of the
sight. However, it is considered a portable unit, and I'm sure that
could be remedied by a trip to your local hardware store.

The Crystal Quest 10 stage portable reverse osmosis system will
provide you with 50 gallons per day of quality contaminate free
water. It is very convenient to use and hooks up to the sink
faucet. The Crystal Quest portable reverse osmosis system is great
for homes and apartments as there is no plumbing involved. Or
people that stay in motels a lot, it is also great for the office
or if you travel in a recreational vehicle. Or for those that are
staying in dorm rooms. Were ever you go you will be assured that
you are drinking contaminant free water with a Crystal Quest
portable reverse osmosis system. It comes with all the hardware you
need to hook it up. In the 1st 3rd 5th and 10th stage water flows
through a one micron filter pad to remove suspended particles such
as silt, sand, sediment, rust (Giardia, Cryptosporidum) and any
other un-dissolved matter. The 2nd and 10th stage water flows
coconut shell granulated activated carbon to filter out organic
contaminants like chlorine, chemicals linked to cancer (THM's
benzene), pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, (VOC's), PCB's,
MTBE's and hundreds of other chemical contaminants. 4th stage water
flows through Crystal Quest reverse osmosis membrane that removes
and filters as small as 1/1000 of a micron. That removes inorganic
chemicals like salts, metals, minerals and most microorganisms. It
also removes cryptosporidium and giardia, and most inorganic
contaminants. In the 6th and 7th stage, water flows through a KDF
55 and KDF 85 media to remove iron-and hydrogen sulfide. It also
remove or reduces heavy metals like lead, mercury, copper, nickel,
chromium, cadmium, aluminum and other dissolved metals are removed
from your water. KDF media also inhibits bacterial growth
throughout the entire unit. The 8th stage water flows through an
ion exchange resin reducing more of the heavy metals like lead,
copper, aluminum and hard water.
