| Who rides Trikkes ? All ages, all sexes, anybody who wants to have fun whilst getting a workout. What is the workout? Trikkes, or grown-up tricycles, are three-wheel vehicles without pedals. They are moved forward by leaning the body, which requires muscle and thus becomes a ample workout. Many people are beginners since this is a very new sport, so don’t feel intimidated. If you have good balance and have skied, you should learn to ride Trikkes pretty rapidly. Within moments of trying the Trikke, I was whipping down the road at a snail’s pace. Going downhill is very manageable, since all you have to do is turn the wheel and slant your body. Going uphill is an altogether different story. This is how you get the workout; the back wheels are on articulated arms and you need to transfer your weight from left foot to right foot as you turn your body into the turns, not as easy as it sounds. Trikke accessories - All you need is a Trikke and an open road, preferably with an incline so you can try going up and down hill. Most Trikke dealers have a demo to try. What to wear: Any type of active clothing that allows for a good range of movement. Possibly a helmet depending on your comfort level. Muscles worked: It’s a very energetic aerobic/cardiovascular workout and according to Trikkes, a Trikke rider commonly burns 25 percent added calories than a cyclist. Your whole body is in motion while trikking, everything gets a little action, legs, upper body and a your core. It’s very low impact, so if you have any injuries that impede you from running or biking, this may be thealternative. What’s different? Trikkes are not your average three-wheeled tricycle. I’ve tried a lot of outrageous bikes and this vehicle is definitely up there on the fun level. I wouldn’t ride it long-distance but it’s a fun way to scoot around the neighborhood and get some activity at the same time. What I loved: Trikking downhill! It really feels like you are skiing as you carve down the pavement. Trikkes are great practice before hitting the slopes on skis. How I felt later: Happy, and inspired to go skiing Trikkes are a Great Workout | |
