An article I wrote on hormone replacement therapy got some strong responses from women who thought I was wrong in denouncing hormone replacement therapy. However, recent government reports are supporting this view. Here is some of the biochemistry for why I think natural techniques are much better than HRT.
The Body’s Chemical Balance
The body is an amazing machine with thousands of chemical
processes happening all the time. There are feedback mechanisms
in place to regulate all these reactions to keep the body in a
delicate balance. Hormones are one of the biggest contributors to
the body’s homeostasis or chemical balance.
Whenever anything not natural is added to the body there is a scramble to rebalance. Likewise, when there is a strong reaction in the body when it releases strong chemicals, there is a scramble to respond both for balance and the needed chemical reactions. This followed by system rebalancing that can take considerable time.
An example of this is when there is an immediate serious threat. The body responds with the fight or flight reaction. The primary hormone released is adrenaline which causes digestion, the immune system, reproduction and more to shut down. Other chemicals are released causing hundreds of reactions. It takes time for these reactions to stop and for balance to return. Sometimes, balance does not return without intervention.
Hormone Replacement Therapy Problems
Another example is when hormones are introduced into the body
from an outside source. It doesn’t matter whether the hormones
are from natural sources or chemically similar. A strong reaction
happens in the body that needs to be brought into balance with
the entire system.
Worst of all, with HRT, nothing is done to correct the reasons why the hormones were low or high in the first place. The body’s numerous feedback loops are bypassed which can cause hormone resistance or pituitary suppression.
Menopause symptoms may be common, but they are not normal. They are caused by a huge imbalance in the body that is usually brought on from a life of poor habits and exposure to toxins.
Causes of Menopause Symptoms
The main cause of these hormonal imbalances in most cases is a
poor diet. But, plastics and pesticides are a huge toxic
contributor. Hormones in meats and milk add to the toxic load. A
liver that is congested so that it can not metabolizing toxins
and hormones is another huge factor for many. Other factors
include fungal infections like Candida, adrenal fatigue, allergies, hormone medications, nutritional
imbalances and stress.
Using HRT may be OK as a short term measure if menopause symptoms are severe, however, I can not recommend it long term. A long term holistic approach is ideal. Using supplements, herbs and stress reduction to bring the body back into balance will not only insure relief from menopause symptoms, but will bring long term health benefits as well.
What You can do for Your Symptoms
There are a lot of factors involved in balancing hormones so that
menopause symptoms are resolved. The list of supplements and
herbs that are indicated for each system is very long.
Changing your diet to eliminate all sugars and ground up
grains is a great way to start.
Bringing other systems back into functionality and balance takes skill. Of course, you could take a ton of supplements to insure you are getting the few you may need. But, most supplements and herbs are only needed short term. You can insure you are getting what you need by consulting with a professional. A recent study shows that fructose makes rats dumber. They don’t perform as well as non-sugar eaters in maze tests. The same thing happens to a human brain. Here’s how that works and what you can do about it.
The title says sugar because white sugar and fructose are nearly the same thing. What is called fructose is actually 55 percent fructose and 45 percent glucose. White sugar is 50/50. However, there is a super fructose used in many sodas that is 65 percent fructose, and fructose is definitely harder on the body than white sugar..
Fruit juice is just as bad since it has a lot of fructose as well. It is just concentrated fruit without the fiber which slows the breakdown of fruits fructose.
Excess sugar has such a strong effect on the brain because of the brain’s physiology. The brain primarily burns sugar in the form of glucose. And, it produces its own insulin to properly metabolize the sugar it needs. Fructose is metabolized much faster than most sugars, so the brain produces more insulin to deal with the excess sugar. Eventually it will become insulin resistant, just like the body does in type two diabetes..
With insulin having less effect the brain doesn’t get the sugar it needs, so it will starve and eventually atrophy. That starvation causes the loss of intelligence. If this goes on long enough the brain will atrophy like what happens in Alzheimer’s.
The fix is to first stop eating so much sugar in all its forms. Eliminating it completely is ideal.
The second thing that will help are medium chain triglycerides (MCT). MCTs are easily converted to the brain’s alternate food called ketone bodies or ketoacids. In fact, ketones may even restore and renew neuron function in the brain, even after damage has occurred.
One of the richest sources of MTCs in coconut oil. 7 teaspoons a day is enough to both treat degenerative neurological diseases or prevent problems from occurring in the first place. And, it is delicious, except perhaps to people who don’t care for coconut though the flavor is subtle.
Coconut oil does not cause a rise in cholesterol as many people believe. Cholesterol is created by the liver from carbohydrates like sugar. Plus, it is good for you on many levels.
Nonetheless, coconut oil can be hard for a body to tolerate at first. Gradually increasing how much you eat is a good way to avoid any complications. Start with one teaspoonful and increase by another every few days.
If there are any other problems with coconut oil you can let me know. Not many people will have an allergy to it, though it does happen. This can often be cleared with a quick allergy treatment if you’d like to schedule a phone healing session with me.
If your brain function is doing fine you can probably just cut way down on or quit sugar and be fine. But, if you’ve had a life of eating sugar, or if dementia runs in your family, you might want to add some high quality coconut oil to your diet to insure good brain health.

The general label for the work I do is Applied Kinesiology or AK. I have been studying and applying this for over fifteen years now. What Can be Treated with Applied Kinesiology
AK is a type of energy healing that uses a lot of different
techniques. It has been greatly expanded since it was started in
the 60′s by Dr. George Goodhart. There are techniques for many
different health issues including allergies, brain chemistry
balancing, emotional clearing, sleep issues, depression, liver
issues, adrenal fatigue and much, much more. In fact, just about
any health issue you can think of.
A lot of what I do has to do with biochemistry. This is a subject that is fascinating to me and something that I continue to study. Knowing how something works makes it easy to fix when there is a problem. Applied Kinesiology supplies the means to resolve most issues.

At times diet and lifestyle need to be altered because nutrition is a big cause of many problems people have. However, a quantum healing can take place with energy healing techniques. But, there must be a way to find the issue and adjustment that needs to be made.
Finding the Root Cause with Applied
Kinesiology
AK uses muscle testing to find the root problem and best solution
for different conditions. The way I do muscle testing on the
phone is through surrogate testing. The principle is that we are
connected energetically through the phone.
Often different conditions are linked together though they may seem to be entirely separate. With AK this can be unraveled so that only one or two supplements may be needed to help many different issues.
Everyone has a Psychological Reversal
There are a few issues that I work with on every client. These
are psychological reversals that affect health.
One of the most common has to do with birth trauma. At birth we are separated from the source of everything that was our world; food, home, warmth, protection etc. The trauma has to do with being separated from source. This can be considered many ways depending on one’s beliefs. An infant has no beliefs though, so for this test the client says, “life is good,” because that source was our life.
This reversal is called umbilical reversal since the separation was from our umbilical connection to source. It is very rare to find someone without this reversal. It causes people to make poor decisions. Another result is that muscle testing results are less accurate. There is a temporary fix I use for phone sessions. One longer term treatment is a teaspoon of raw sesame seed oil for two weeks. I recommend this to all my clients.
Another major psychological reversal that indicates severe fight or flight is indicated when someone goes weak when they say, “I chose to be happy.” The good news is that this can be quickly cleared with an emotional clearing technique.
Most Common Techniques
The emotional clearing technique is the most used in AK sessions.
Emotions are usually the primary issue to clear first. There are
two great techniques that I use, the most common one is called
The Emotion Code. What I do is find the
emotion, the client intends to release it while I do an energy
healing technique, then they open themselves to allowing whatever
is perfect for them to fill the space the released emotion used
to fill. This insures that the cleared emotion does not return.
Allergy clearing is my second most used technique. Everyone has allergies when looked at through the AK view. This article gives more information about allergy clearing.
Resolve the Root Problem, not Just Symptoms
One of the most important things I do is finding the root of the
problem. It makes no sense to treat symptoms as traditional
medicine does as long as the client wants optimal health and is
willing to make a few changes for optimal health.

Diet and lifestyle changes are some of the most important things
people need to do for their health. Knowing the effects of what
they have been doing to themselves gives inspiration to change
habits and find better ways of living to promote a longer and
more healthy life full of vitality.

A recent analysis of 63 studies showed a decrease in antibiotic related diarrhea when probiotics were used. I’ve been telling people that antibiotic usage causes gastrointestinal symptoms for years.
If you’ve ever taken antibiotics you may have noticed that your stool got very small. The reason is that a significant portion of it is made up of the bodies of dead microorganisms that live in your gut. In the case of using antibiotics, there is a large die off resulting in a much smaller portion left to be excreted.
The Wrong Bacteria Causes Problems
Probiotics are the good for you microorganisms that live in your
gut. However, if your gut bacteria isn’t so healthy with a lot of
the wrong organisms living there, then you have what is
called dysbiosis.
The organisms in your gut outnumber the total number of cells in your body, so you want to have the best ones that you can, especially since they have a significant effect on your health.
The gut flora that you have affects your gut health. Among other things, dysbiosis can cause depression and negatively affect your immune system.
As this study shows, a lack of them can cause diarrhea. What it didn’t show is which antibiotics were being helped by taking probiotics, or which probiotics were helpful since most of the individual studies didn’t track this.
One of the Best Probiotics to Take with
Antibiotics
According to years of holistic health research, which includes
many medical studies, the answer is pretty simple, lactic acid yeast.
Candida, the yeast that is bad for you, causes a lot of problems. Lactic acid yeast, a yeast that is helpful to the gut, reverses a lot of the damage that candida causes to the gut. One example is that candida creates the wrong pH so it can thrive, lactic acid yeast changes the pH back to what it should be.
And, lactic acid yeast is one of the toughest of all the probiotics, one of the few that is mostly able to survive antibiotics. Taking lactic acid yeast while on antibiotics will keep the gut bacteria active and healthy.
How to Get Lactic Acid Yeast
Lactic acid yeast is available in the air and each strain
is specific to its location. It is what
naturally leavens bread, and what
makes cabbage turn to sauerkraut. Fermented vegetables
are a perfect source of lactic acid yeast. This is especially
true if you make your own sauerkraut, or buy locally
because the local strain is the best to help your body deal with
other bacteria in the environment. This is a great way to help
with travelers gut (diarrhea).
Medical Science is Looking at Probiotics
Again
Before antibiotics were discovered in the 1944, medical science
was looking at probiotics as a way to prevent disease and
increase health and vitality. After the first antibiotic was
discovered that research was dropped by the medical community.
Today, medicine is finally starting to realize that there is
something to the microorganisms in the gut. Finally,
after almost 70 years we are finally coming full circle.
Having a less acidic body is something that everyone should desire. A healthy body is slightly acidic overall. Getting that way is not hard, but it isn’t done with what you eat which is what most people think. A little biochemistry, simplified of course, tells you how to alkalize your body the right way.
One of the reasons having a more alkaline body is that major diseases like cancer aren’t likely to form unless the environment is acidic. Parasites also like acid, and most people have parasites too.
How Nature Alkalizes the Body
Let’s start with the solution. A stomach that produces enough
hydrochloric acid, or HCl, will keep the body at the perfect pH.
PH measures the how acidic or alkaline a substance is.
But, very few people’s stomachs produce enough HCl, so taking HCl supplements with meals is necessary to keeping the body alkaline.
What? Taking HCl supplements will keep the body alkaline? How does that work?
I thought you’d never ask.
How Taking Hydrochloric Acid Alkalizes the
Body
The body is made the way it is for a reason. When food moves from
the stomach to the first part of the small intestines the
pancreas and gallbladder release digestive enzymes to continue
the digestion process. These enzymes are full of minerals that
are very alkaline. So, not only does digestion continue the way
it is supposed to, but the acid in the partially digested food is
neutralized.
In fact, it is these acid neutralizing minerals that effectively neutralize the acid in the entire body. To be clear, this is the overall pH of the body, certain parts need to be acidic to work right.
The Infection Problem
Most people can’t just start taking HCl supplements. In fact,
many people would be very unhappy if they did. The reason has to
do with an infection that just about everyone has. This
particular infection is one of the most common in the world, a
bacteria called H. pylori, the cause of ulcers. The reason it’s
so common is that one of HCl’s jobs is to sterilize the contents
of the stomach, and since most people don’t produce enough HCl
they get the infection because the bacteria is everywhere.
Another problem with H. pylori is that if your infection is
severe enough and you take HCl you will get an ulcer. Actually,
you’d probably just stop taking the HCl because the combination
can be really painful. The good news is that H. pylori is very
easy to get rid of.
How to Eliminate H. Pylori and Cure Your
Ulcer
H. pylori doesn’t respond well to antibiotics because it hides in
the folds of the stomach lining. It’s hard to detect for the same
reason, but it is there in almost everyone. It used to take weeks
to cure ulcers because it took that long to get rid of H. pylori
using natural techniques while antibiotics almost never worked.
However, it can now be done in only ten days. And, all it takes
is two cups of tea a day for those ten days. Brassica Tea was developed at Johns Hopkins
University where the studies on H. pylori were done. It is laced with a
high concentration of an antioxidant that is so powerful that it
kills off H. pylori in just ten days. Even the worst ulcer will
be cured within that length of time too. I’ve seen it work dozens
of times.
When You can Start Taking HCl
Most people can start taking HCl and drinking the tea at the same
time. But, it might not be worth doing since the pain from the
HCl can be pretty bad, if there is an H. pylori infection. There
is a test that involves taking a couple tablespoons of apple
cider vinegar with water on an empty stomach, but that can be
pretty painful too — if there’s pain you need the tea first.
What HCl to Take
Once you finish taking Brassica Tea for ten days you can start
taking the HCl. The form you take it is is called Betain HCl.
You’ll need about 1200 mg per meal to insure the release of
alkalizers. And, most people will do well to take one that comes
with pancreatic enzymes since most people are lacking in those as
well. When using this HCl supplement you will need to take two
with each meal.
It doesn’t matter if a meal has protein or not, it’s the alkalizing you want. And, it’s best if you take the supplement about half way through the meal though it is ok to take it later if you forget. Up to 30 minutes after will still provide benefit.
Action Steps to Alkalize Your Body
First, order some Brassica Tea and start drinking two cups a day.
On an empty stomach is ideal. After ten days start taking about
1200 mg of HCl per meal. A little more or a little less is fine,
though more is better than less.

Allergies are far more widespread than you might think, particularly when the more broad definition that Applied Kinesiology (AK) uses. The good news is that AK has an effective energy technique that can quickly eliminate allergic reactions. Even so, the underlying factor must be resolved or the allergy is likely to come back.
In AK allergies are understood to be a sensitivity to a particular substance or even an organism. Possible sensitivities can be to vitamin supplements, pathogens, harmful toxins and in some cases even people. There may also be a sensitivity to a thing or concept such as money, or almost anything you can think of.
An allergic reaction could have symptoms which range from extreme inflammation such as reacting to a bee sting or peanuts, to the inability to digest and effectively use a nutrient. An allergy can block the body’s defense mechanisms by not spotting and fighting an infection. Each can be easily treated with the same technique.
The Root Cause of Allergies
Hay fever allergies usually have an underlying and hidden food
allergy. The most frequent foods people tend to be hypersensitive
to are wheat, sugar, soy, dairy, oats, corn and egg whites. All
grains, nuts and fats, especially trans fats, also need to be
considered. Anything could be the underlying factor though these
foods are the most common.
When a specific food is the root of other allergies it is because the protein in the food has a similar segment of amino acid chain as the substance that causes a reaction (proteins are made from amino acids chains). So, if someone has an allergy to pollen then a segment of the pollen’s amino acid chain is the same as the amino acid chain in the food that is the root cause. When that food is eliminated from the diet then the reaction to the substance that causes the obvious reaction (pollen) will stop.
The food that is at the root of the allergic reaction is easy to find using Applied Kinesiology. AK uses muscle testing as a diagnostic tool that can easily find such problem foods. But, anyone can find the problem for themselves by using the elimination diet.
The elimination diet is done by not eating the main foods that tend to be at the root of such reactions. After staying away from the food that is at the root of the problem for three weeks the body will stop defending itself from it. That way when the food is reintroduced a very obvious reaction will occur. Adding foods back one at a time gives you a chance to identify which one causes the reaction.
Treating an Allergy with AK
Once an allergen is found there is a very specific way to use the
allergy clearing technique to insure a good result. One of the
most important things is to treat the top ten or twenty allergens
before treating the primary food or substance. If this is not
done then any substance that was treated out of order is very
likely to cause a problem again, often with more severity than
before.
Another point is that only up to five things can be treated in a six hour period. Any other energy work done within that time will negate the treatment.
Allergies are Worsening
A disturbing fact about allergies is that they are getting worse
and worse. People are getting more allergies, and they often
cause a much stronger reaction. Also, they sometimes return after
being successfully treated. This is much worse than it was even
ten years ago.
One of the reasons for this trend is that man-made supplements are inferior to the ones that nature provides. When they are taken as supplements or used to fortify processed foods, the body becomes confused. Since they are not ‘real’ the body eventually rejects them, and doesn’t allow them to be absorbed. This includes the fake supplements as well as the real thing. Consequently, most people have problems absorbing and utilizing most vitamins.
Another factor is that the general use of processed foods. Ground up grains and sugars weakens the immune and other systems. This is one of the main causes of allergies as well as many other physical ailments.
Another factor has to do with the fact that our planet’s magnetic north is shifting. These shifts happen every few thousand years or so. The disrupting effect on the body is significant especially where allergies are concerned. The problem will continue to worsen over the snext century or so until these shifts have stabilized.
One of the manifestations of these factors is that allergies are starting to require several treatments before they are completely cleared. Up to 96 treatments are needed with five to fifteen minutes between treatments.
A few years ago when this was first discovered practitioners would have a dozen or more clients milling around in their waiting room waiting for the next treatment. It would take days to clear a single allergy. The expense was high, and the practitioner was limited as to how many people he or she could help.
Eventually a quick reduction technique was discovered. The technique I know takes about 30 seconds to reduce an allergy from needing 96 treatments to a single treatment. A great time and money saver indeed.
Allergies that can be Treated
Several different conditions can be treated with this technique.
Some practitioners believe that all asthma are allergies that have progressed to a
severe level. I believe there is a little more complexity in
asthma though allergy treatments are a big part of its treatment.
Another belief some practitioners have is that cancer can be cured with just allergy treatments. Cancer is simply way too complex for any one thing to cure. A lot of different techniques are required to resolve cancer.
An interesting allergy that can happen is a resistance to someone you are in relationship with. This is can be someone who just gets under your skin. What happens is that the stress between the two people causes the body to build up defenses against them. It always amazes me when I hear how much a relationship changed after a simple allergy treatment. Things improve even more when the other person receives a treatment as well.

The article I wrote the other day about the unfortunate woman who died from practically living on Coca Cola brought a lot of comments and emails. It also made me remember how I almost did the same thing to myself, but in a different way. So, I thought I’d tell you my story.
I already wrote a little about how junk food almost killed me, but didn’t tell the whole story. I reveal this now in the hopes that more people will take the needed steps to insure full health and vitality. It is possible to heal from even the worst conditions, as long as there hasn’t been too much damage. I’m a living example.
When I was young and very strong I did construction for a living. I used to work so hard you wouldn’t believe it. I don’t even believe it! A very strong body with lots of energy.
I had great digestion too, I could eat anything with no problem. And, I did! Being young, strong and ignorant I would indulge myself with treats all the time. The junk I ate!
There was stress too. The demands of physical labor, driving around all the time in a big metropolitan area, dealing with customers, not having work, family etc. All these stress factors added up and eventually I started having problems with frequent digestion problems and diarrhea.
One day the diarrhea stopped and was replaced with some pretty severe gut pain. I had trouble eating because of it. But, still didn’t think a lot about it.
That lasted for a few days and went away. Six months later it came back worse than before. This time it didn’t go away. I couldn’t eat when there was pain, so I started losing weight. I’d go for two or three days without eating before the pain went away. A few hours after eating the pain came back. I was eating maybe once every two or three days.
The really dumb thing is that I thought the only things my body could handle were chicken and noodles. For my one meal I’d eat a chicken breast and a bowl of noodles, wheat of course.
One day I went to pick something up that was never a problem before, but this time it took significant effort. I had spent so much time not eating that my body had lost muscle mass. I finally went for acupuncture.
They were two friends of mine, a couple both acupuncturists, he was an MD as well. They gave me herbs and needles, but nothing much about diet. No cold or raw foods is all they really said, a standard for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The problem was a blockage in the intestines, so the pain was incredible. My doctor friend finally told me, after failing to heal the problem with acupuncture, to go see a doctor about it. The doctors couldn’t help me either since every time I went in to see them for some test the symptoms weren’t there. That the thing about doctors, they can’t do much until things are super critical.
I had a girlfriend at the time, a very intelligent woman. She sat in a bookstore and diagnosed me as having Crohn’s disease. It took the doctors another three months and half a dozen tests to finally come up with the same conclusion. By then the damage in my gut was pretty severe. I had lost a lot of weight and couldn’t do much at all except eat my bowl of noodles every few days.
After trying some really powerful medications that didn’t help, the doctors finally decided I needed surgery to repair the damage. Some of the gut was so damaged that part of it had to be removed. Fortunately, there was plenty left for normal function.
Before that they put me on intravenous feeding. Not eating for a month before surgery was the first pain free time I had in over eight months.
I was in the hospital for two weeks before I could finally eat again. That’s six weeks or so without eating or drinking anything. When I was able to eat the doctors encouraged me to eat “lots of carbs” to gain back some weight. One doctor even made sure I had a big slice of carrot cake, one of my favorites.
Turns out wheat was the biggest contributor to the inflammation that caused the blockage in the first place.
After surgery they sent me to the GI specialist, an older doctor who had been specializing for many years. He told me, “there is nothing you can or cannot eat that will make any difference in your condition whatsoever. Take these pills and you’ll be fine.” I remember his wrong words well.
A couple of weeks after I got out of the hospital I reconnected with a friend who had been living abroad for several years. He had started practicing natural healing and checked to see what was going on with me.
He did muscle testing to find what I was allergic to. At first his tests didn’t work, the medication was blocking what he did. He tried again a few days later after being off the meds.
He had boxes of vials that each had different substances in them. He first tested whole boxes to narrow it down, then the individual vials. I remember when he got this one vial out, as he was bringing it near I knew that was the one, whatever that is, is causing my problem. It was wheat!
For the next few weeks I didn’t take the medication and avoided wheat, and everything was fine! One day I saw some carrot cake that I just had to have. A few hours later I had the exact same symptoms I had before surgery! That was it, I didn’t eat wheat again for a year and a half.
It was a couple of months after my friend found my allergy to wheat that I met my mentor, Dr. G. I couldn’t afford to get treatments from him, but I learned his methods by observing him with hundreds of clients. I applied his methods to myself and eventually was able to even eat wheat again.
I’ll never eat more than just a little wheat or sugar, and very rarely at that. In fact, I don’t eat much grain at all. For a couple of years I was completely off all grains.
I made it through my ordeal. So many people aren’t so lucky. My real luck was finding a mentor who taught me how to eat in a way that gave me my health back. That’s part of why I write about health, so many people don’t have access to the kind information I was graced to receive.
I’ve also written a few books. A big message I have for people is to take control of your health. What is taught in the media is mostly propaganda to sell something. Even the government isn’t really looking out for your health. (A big political discussion here I don’t want to go into!) Go out and learn what is true, and find out what works for you. Be healthy and live a long, healthy and active life!
An interesting story was released yesterday about a 30 year old woman who drank 7 liters of coca cola a day, that’s almost two gallons, that lead to her death.
It really is too bad that most people don’t really know much about health and what causes disease. Even the simple fact about how bad sugar is for the body is something that most people don’t know.
Her partner had no idea that drinking that much coke was bad for you. He said, “I never thought about it. It’s just a soft drink, just like drinking water. I didn’t think a soft drink was going to kill her.” But, it’s not water, it’s junk food and as I’ve said many times, it’s deadly.
He now thinks that cola should come with a warning label. Anything with sugar in it should come with a warning label in my opinion.
Imagine, at 30 she already had all her teeth removed! And, still she had no idea anything was wrong! This was in New Zealand too, where people are generally more healthy than they are in the US.
She would become moody and had no energy if she didn’t have her fix. That’s a big clue for you, if you think something you really love might be bad for you then see if you can get off it without discomfort.
The next test is to stay off it for three weeks. After being away from a problem food for awhile the body stops defending against it so when you have it again your body will react strongly to it. That’s the elimination technique, it works really well to let you know what is up with your diet, especially things you really love to eat.
Another factor is that she had 8 children. Having children is a huge burden to a woman’s body. Among other things it is a huge drain on the adrenal glands.
The main symptom she had was heart cardiac arrhythmia, an abnormal heart beat. Hher heart would “pump like mad,” This is a symptom of possible potassium deficiency. Makes sense because the rest of her nutrition was pretty bad — potassium is found in vegetables and fruits which it sounds like she wasn’t eating at all.
If you suspect you have a potassium deficiency you might want to consider eating more fruits and vegetables. Not too much fruit though, even fruit sugar can add to adrenal fatigue. And, if you don’t usually eat vegetables or fruits then you might consider taking a potassium supplement short term.

Eating the right foods and avoiding processed foods is essential to good health. If you think you have a problem then get proactive and learn how to take care of yourself. There are a lot of articles on my site here that will help you with that.
A recent long term study conducted with 60,000 nurses shows that prescription long term hormone replacement causes cancer. Even though single hormone therapy has demonstrated good results, the longer the therapy continues the greater the risk.
Treatment that includes both estrogen and progestin, the most common therapy, can increase breast cancer risk. But, a recent study shows that estrogen alone can even slightly decrease cancer risk. However, the new study shows that taking estrogen for 10 years or more increases the risk.
Doctors recommend that the lowest dose possible should be taken to minimize the risk. But, there is still a risk!
There’s Another Option
The real reason that women need to take hormone replacement is
that the adrenal glands aren’t working correctly. When the body
stops producing female hormones the adrenal glands are supposed
to take up the slack.
While the adrenals won’t produce hormones at the same levels as premenopausal women, they do produce enough to keep menopause symptoms from happening. In fact, as common as menopause symptoms are, they are not normal.
When women who eat whole foods with a minimum of grains reach menopause the only symptom they have is that bleeding stops.
There are other factors involved in keeping the adrenal glands healthy. Plenty of sleep, low stress levels and keeping your body detoxified are the top factors needed to keep the adrenal glands healthy.
If you are already experiencing menopause symptoms there is a lot you can do other than taking hormones. Adjusting your lifestyle to that mentioned above is the first step. Then you will need herbs and supplements for adrenal fatigue.

There are other things you might need for menopause symptoms if the adrenal glands are particularly weak. One of the best is the herb Chaste Tree. I’ve seen it literally stop a hot flash in its tracks. However, the only one I’ve ever seen really work is from MediHerb. Same issue though, it’s not easily available, and others don’t usually have the quality to work.

When looked at biochemically it is obvious that stress is the number one health issue today because it leads to so many ailments. I’ll go into that in a minute. Don’t worry,it’s pretty simple.
Recent science has shown that inflammation leads to many modern ailments. Heart disease, diabetes, dementia including Alzheimer’s and cancer to name a few.
Biochemically speaking, diseases like these progress in a logical way. So, let’s look at stress as reported in the above article.
Most people know that junk food is bad for them, but many don’t know why. Since knowledge is power, I’m going to lay it out for you here. The simple answer is that it puts stress on the body. There are other stress factors of course, factors that most people know.
The body reacts the same way to toxic chemicals as it does to junk food. Strong emotions, mostly negative ones, create the same biochemical nightmare that being exposed to toxins in your food or environment do.
Other stress factors include: injury, lack of sleep, over exercising, not exercising, temperature and long term hunger (an hour or two is actually good for you, but that’s a different subject).
How stress leads to disease
When there is stress the adrenal glands produce powerful hormones. The purpose of these hormones is to get the body ready to fight or run away fast, the fight or flight instinct.
It’s the powerful hormones that cause inflammation. The swelling is there so if you bleed it will be minimal. Inflammation also fights off infection. Whatever the case the inflammation is there long term because most stress is long term.
In the case of emotional stress, if the emotions aren’t released then they become stuck in the body, and we all know how to stuff emotions. Dietary stress is very long term for the majority of people who have access to processed foods because it’s in our genes to crave fattening foods. That’s how ancient people survived winter, if you didn’t crave fattening foods you didn’t survive, and we’re descended from the survivors.
The human body is designed to eat fattening foods once a year for a few months at most. Type 2 diabetes sets in during that time so there is excess blood sugar that is converted in the liver to fat. Do that year round and you become permanently diabetic, overweight and develop heart disease. Cancer results too, but that pathway is more complex, a subject for another time.
If you want to avoid stress and inflammation, then you need to change your life. While that may not very practical for most people, there are things that you can probably change to eliminate a big chunk of your stress. And, you can mitigate the effects of some stress in a number of ways.
Eliminating dietary stress is number one. That includes all processed foods and sugars. (By the way, processed foods are any ground up grains and all sugars. Stevia is the only completely safe sweetener.) Grains are not the best thing to eat at all, so at least minimizing them is pretty important.
Another thing you can do is to exercise regularly. Walking is the best exercise because our bodies are designed to walk — ancient humans were nomads. An hour or so a day five days a week is a good goal to work up to. That’s the main part though there’s a lot more about exercise, but again, another subject.
Eliminating emotional stress is the hard one for most people. Meditation and yoga have been shown to reduce those stress hormones, and exercise helps to burn them off.
