after 3 days returned it. I took a chance in buying it since I
could not find one single review online from any other buyers.
Well, I took a risk & got burned. In my opinion, this item is
NOT hands free. It does not 'automatically' reconnect with your
phone every time you get in the car. This item worked fine the
first day after I paired it, I was able to receive calls and hear
pretty clearly (there was some mild hissing noise in the
background). The problem is, every time I got back into the car on
subsequent days, this item did not reconnect to my phone. I had to
go into the options of my phone and direct my phone to reconnect
with the Scosche, to me that is the "opposite" of hands free. I
have used my phone with other Bluetooth devices and they were
always connected (which is how it should be with Bluetooth, so I'm
sure it was 'not' my phone, it was a problem with the Scosche).
Also, you cannot place calls with the Scosche even if you have
voice on your phone, I tried and it did not work. Listen, the only
thing this gadget has going for it is that it goes thru the
auxiliary input in the car, which is why I bought it, but that's
it, so unless your prepared to manually connect it to your phone
each time you turn your car on, forget about the Scosche!!!

which worked and still works great. I got a phonex for my friend
for his computer to connect to the internet. The distance from the
transmitter jack to the receiver jack was probably further than in
the case of my Tivo. Anyway, the Phonex did not work. I returned
it, and decided to try the Belkin. First, I notice that the Belkin
says it's good for 56K transmission rate, whereas the Phonex says
only up to 16K. I don't know--but I can report that the Belkin
wireless modem jack worked reliably whereas the phonex did
not..

(More customer

could watch TV without disturbing me while I'm on the computer, and
so that I could watch TV while she's asleep.
They're tight, and I guess they have to be to keep them on your
head - the receiver and batteries add weight. The package claims
"Soft earpads cushion your head for hours of wearing comfort" but
that's simply not true. Hard plastic speaker casing sits right up
against your hear with only a thin bit of foam protecting you, no
real protection at all. Then a foam donut surrounds the speaker
casing and gives the appearance of a lot of cushy foam to protect
your ears.
If you wear them just right it's not too bad, but if you have it so
that the hard plastic rests on your ears, it can become very
irritating.
The sound quality is pretty good. The bass response is good, and
it's fun to play video games with. The base plugs in to the
headphones and will recharge ni-cad batteries, or they take 2 AAA
batteries if you, for some reason, don't want to use the ni-cad
batteries. The base and headphones are compact when at rest, just
like in the photo.
I'd love to try another pair to see if there's a more comfortable
set out there.

is a super sleek RC that looks like it could fly right out of the
package. I was super pumped to try it out. So when I got it home
and threw in a battery pack, that I already had charged, to see
what it could do I was somewhat disappointed. It wasn't as fast as
I thought it would be, but had plenty of power for fun. I called
the Nikko company to see what was the fastest RC they made and the
Super Octane is it. They boasted a 20 mph rating but I think they
come up with this number by calculating wheel rotation and not
actual ground speed. With a 100 dollar price tag Nikko should put
more powerful motors in there RC's before they start claiming 20
mph speeds. The actual speed is somewhere between 10 and 13 mph
with a freshly charged battery that last about 15 to 20 min, but
still the Super Octane is fun to play with and did I mention that
it looks really cool too. On a scale of 1 to 10 I rate this RC a 7
for speed, a 9 for durability, 5 for climbing prowis, 8 for fun,
and a 7 for overall value. If the Super Octane was a bit faster it
would have got a higher rating for speed and value.

Alpine car stereos with CD-changer aux input. Only thing needed and
sound quality is phenomenal. It also charges the iPod automatically
but this will decrease the battery life. I actually left the red
power supply wire disconnected so it would not charge the iPod
battery then eventually hooked it up using a $5 on/off wire harness
from a hardware store so I could charge it in the car if needed
although I haven't needed to do this yet.
P.S. Be sure to hook up the ground wire.

Wireless Shutter Release for
Select Nikon Cameras
This unit allows the photographer to be away from the camera, yet
take pictures, even when there are obstacles (walls, etc.) between
him or her and the camera. This wireless shutter release activates
the auto focus and the automatic meter systems of the camera and
then trips the shutter just as if the photographer was holding the
camera and squeezing the shutter release button. The transmitter
has a two position button. Depressing the button half way activates
the auto focus and the meter, depressing the rest of the way fires
the shutter, just like the cameras shutter release. An LED
indicates that the auto focus and meter have been activated and
then that the shutter has fired.Because there can be other
photographers in the area or wireless networks, the photographer
can choose one of 16 channels to work with. Range is up to 100

(More customer

had no problems with any of them. Some of the issues in other
reviews here can be solved by reading the manual.
Simply set to MSC mode and the player acts just like a removeable
hard drive when connected via USB. Very simple to transfer or
delete songs etc.
The 2Gb is reasonably good capacity... in fact, great capacity
considering the price. The FM radio works fine, although a little
trickier to navigate than some older sandisk models. Color screen
is good, although a little too small to be practicable to view
photos on. The song title can also take a little too long to scroll
fully.
I had no trouble with sound quality or crackling or clipping at
start of song. Sound quality is fine! Battery life also seems good
for me. I have even ran some el cheapo batteries with it and had
good life up to the stated specs (although this depends on how much
you press buttons and have the screen lit up).
Voice recorder is handy, although I find I don't use it too much,
your mileage may vary though. As a basic MP3 player and radio, I
find it hard to beat given the price tag. I have no issues with
size of the unit. Sure its not as thin as an Ipod Nano, but it
takes one AAA battery which you can get anywhere. No need to have a
power point to recharge.
I think some people expect perfection for a budget price!

does not offer anything for a wireless option. Very pleased with
the unit. Plug receiver into camera... use the transmitter and away
you go. Was originally debating whether I "needed" wireless or
could get away with just a cabled remote. Cool thing is that this
will serve as both. Has buttons on the corded receiver to act as
wired remote, step away and use transmitter for wireless. Receiver
has built-in rechargeable battery, comes with charger. Very cool...
very happy with this set up. Only had a month or so but seems to
work great!

(More customer

RP-TNC Connector
To solve the mystery of how you can get gain out of what might
appear to be a omni-directional whip: This is a collinear antenna
which has coils built into it so that it acts like several vertical
antennas are stacked on top of one another, each creating more gain
as the radiation pattern is squashed down into the shape of a
toroid or doughnut so that little power is received or transmitted
either directly above or below the antenna and instead concentrated
in a band around the center. If the Wi-Fi antenna you want to
receive from is elevated above you then you would want this kind of
a antenna to be swiveled in such a manner as to put the whip at a
90 degree orientation to the remote station to allow signal
reception or transmission off of the sides of the whip where the
power is greatest.
Due to the way the receive and transmit pattern is in the shape of
a toroid or doughnut this type of antenna can give good gain while
at the same time being omni-directional, except above and below the
antenna where you don't need to waste the power anyway. If you want
a antenna which has much higher gain look for a more directional
antenna such as the flat panel antennas, Yagi or a parabolic
reflector type of antenna which depending upon the size, can have
20 dB (or more) of gain which is a factor of 100 making a 100
milliwatt or 1/10 of a watt signal seem as powerful as a 10 watt
signal, or a 1 watt signal as powerful as 100 watts. If you buy a
flat panel Wi-Fi antenna and get one rated for 20 dBi of gain the
half power beam width for both receive and transmit will be about
20 degrees. With a 20 dBi gain flat panel directional antenna, if
you point it 10 degrees to the left or right from where it should
be pointed for maximum signal you will have the equivalent of 17 dB
of gain but that apparent gain will quickly drop off the further
away the antenna is pointed from the proper direction. Note: It is
a coincidence that a 20 dBi gain antenna has a 20 degree wide half
power beamwidth, normally gain and half power beamwidth do not
correlate to the same numbers except in the case of a 20 dBi gain
antenna.
If you want to receive or transmit to two different locations at
the same time but want each to have the best signal possible using
a single high gain flat panel antenna, you can cut the difference
between them sacrificing some of the gain to each one and point the
antenna to an area in the middle. As long as the two stations are
close enough together to be within a healthy portion of the
antennas area of gain this should work out fine. Obviously, you
wouldn't expect to be able to use that antenna for two different
locations if one was behind you and the other in front but if both
are within 30 degrees from you and not too far away a 20 dBi gain
antenna could be used by cutting the difference between them. If
they are too far separated in azimuth direction from you use a high
gain collinear antenna with more power on each end, or perhaps
using a lower gain antenna which has a much wider beamwidth or
separate antennas for each radio shot. You can also use a splitter
designed for 2.4 GHz and combine the receive and transmit from two
separate antennas together into one feedline going back to your
equipment, if necessary, but there will be a 3+ dB penalty or loss
of signal level when doing so but to me this seems like the best
solution if you need all the gain you can get from a flat panel or
highly directional antenna to each station when using a common or
single Wi-Fi transmitter and receiver such as a LinkSys or other
wireless router.
Here is a good rule of thumb for line of sight radio shots without
buildings or other terrain in between, every time you half the
distance you increase the received power from a remote location by
six dB, or if you double the distance you lose six more dB of
signal level. In areas where there are trees and buildings or hills
between each location this rule does not apply as the signal losses
can be very great for short distances.

(More customer
reviews)Given that the amount of press that this device
has received, what is there to say about it that hasn't been said a
thousand times already? Well, here are some things that are worth
knowing but that you might not already know:
(1) When you untangle the headphones (and you will spend a lot of
time untangling the headphones), untangle from the jack end first
(pull that end through the knots). The buds act like little hooks
on the cable and don't pull through well. What's more, there are
two of them and it is easy to confuse the cables of one with the
other. It will save you time and aggravation to untangle the jack
first. Try it and see for yourself.
(2) To put the little foam cushions on the earbuds, put the cushion
against the bud with the hole facing you and roll it back onto the
bud on so that it turns inside out as you put it on. You will want
to use the cushions - the earbuds aren't very comfortable even with
the cushions and can be downright painful without them.
(3) Memorize how to reset the iPod (plug it into power, push the
hold button on and off, then hold down the "menu" and "play/pause"
buttons at the same time for 6 to 10 seconds - repeat as needed).
iPods are real nice, but every model still locks up every once in a
while (less than once a month in my experience). When I first had
an iPod, I took it on a trip, and it locked up so I couldn't use it
and I didn't know how to reset it. Very frustrating - don't let it
happen to you.
(4) Since you're looking at a 40 gig iPod, I assume you have LOTS
of music (if you don't - save your money; you don't need this).
Anyway, a great playlist for people with big collections is a
"smart" playlist (a smart playlist is one constructed from rules
rather than by hand) that consists of the songs you haven't played
yet (or haven't played in a while) and which you then shuffle as
needed. Once you play a song, it automatically drops off the list
(neat, huh?) leaving you with just the music you haven't heard yet
(or lately).
(5) If you have a big collection, you may have more than will fit
on a 40 gig iPod. If so, you should know that you can choose to
have your iPod sync only particular playlists (like, say, your
automatic list of unplayed songs mentioned above), and the size of
an automatic playlist can itself be capped to a particular size
limit. This method gives you a way to sync your iPod with only very
slightly more effort than a fully automatic sync (which doesn't
work if you have more music than will fit on the iPod) because once
you set a playlist to be included, it stays that way until you
change it.
(6) If you're looking to save some dough, the ability to sync only
some playlists makes the smaller iPods perfectly usable even if you
have a large music collection . It's just a trade-off of management
effort vs. space. Even the smallest iPods can hold enough music for
any but the longest trips away from your computer.
(7) For your CD's, you can change the bit rate at which they're
compressed. The higher the bit rate, the better the sound, but the
bigger the file (and the shorter the battery life - those big files
take more juice to load off the hard disk). If you're getting an
iPod this big, live a little - change from the default bit rate to
something higher when loading your CD's.
(8) Use the dock with your stereo. It has a line-out on the back
and you can plug it right into your stereo (extra stereo cable
required) and use the stereo remote to control the volume. You can
also get a third-party IR remote from Ten Technology right here on
Amazon to control pause, play, forward and back - and even program
your universal remote. If you'd rather use the dock with your
computer, think about getting Apple's stereo connection kit, which
you can also get right here on Amazon: you get another dock,
another power supply and cable, and a stereo cable.
(9) Get a car adapter and use it with your car. There are dedicated
ones that can also recharge it, but any generic cassette adapter
will do - assuming of course your car has a cassette player. For
those living high, Alpine is coming out with a really neat looking
adapter in September that lets you control the iPod through your
car stereo; for those living higher yet, get a BMW and get the
special adaptor BMW makes available for controlling your iPod
through your CD changer buttons.
(10) To extend battery life, don't let it go completely dead. Your
battery can last for years and years if you keep it topped off as
much as possible.
(11) Check your free hard disk space. If you want 40 gig of music
on your iPod, you'll need 40 gig of free hard disk space on your
computer. Also, think about whether you want another hard disk to
back it up - forget about CD-R's or even DVD-R's for this much
data.
(12) Check the websites of your favorite artists - lots of them
have free tracks you can download perfectly legally and then load
onto your iPod.
