Customers who are on GSM networks are able to "roam" off of other carriers (which simply means piggyback off of otherservice provider
s towers, If your carrier doesnt have towers in the area).However, the differences in technology and framework CDMA users are not able to do this and arestrictly limited only to their carrier'sservice area.Another convenienceof GSM is that they use SIM cards, which containsthe subscriber's phonebook, phone callsand subscriber information, which means usersare able to simply switch phones in as little time as it takes you to change the sim cards, while with CDMA if you want to swap cell phones you are forced to visit your network's nearest office and have them program you a new phone,consequently, every time a user swaps cell phones they would have to manually re-add their phone numbers into the new phone, which is often a invconveince.

GSM is simply better

Although, is itjustmy2 cents, as a frequent traveler,In my opinion gsm is more user friendly .I swap phones 2-4 times a week, and every now and then possibly lose a few.As long as I have my sim card I can hot swap the card into one of my unlocked phones and I have all my contacts and information ready to go.
