(More customer reviews)We bought an Oster Beehive classic based on reviews here that said it had an ultra-strong, all-metal drive shaft. Well, we had it for a week when the "ultra-strong, all-metal drive shaft" sheared right off: it is actually all-rubber in construction: the metal does not go all the way through!
I called Oster, and they agreed to send a free replacement. It arrived today (after a two week period with no blender). My kids got excited and asked for smoothies. I very carefully followed the manual's instructions, filling it with juice and adding one, tiny, pathetic half-strawberry at a time. On the last one, there was a sickening clunk, and, you guessed it! The drive shaft sheared off again! This happened five minutes ago, and I will quite definitely not buy another Oster. There was no abuse or misuse here, folks: this product may be super solid, but the weak link is the rubber transfer coupling, and it WILL break, leaving you fifty dollars poorer.
Save your money.

(More customer reviews)Well, I first ordered a cheap ... 250Watt meat grinder from Harbor Freight. It had a plastic worm gear, didn't work well at all, so it sits on my shelf. Then I got a hand operated meat grinder, and that turned out to be quite a lot of work. I like to grind my own burger and was still looking for a good meat grinder. I did own the Bosch mixer and noticed they made a meat grinder attachment (I bought the mixer after I bought my first two grinders). I have the 450 watt mixer. I figured I would try the meat grinder. I got the grinder and it was all metal, except for the tray on top and the push tube. Well, I diced my meat and got ready to grind some burger (I just don't trust supermarket stuff - too many recalls!). WOW! was I impressed -- this thing grinds like a demon! perfect hamburger. And, it ground up the meat as quickly as I could get it down the tube too...this is the one that I will keep and use for my burger grinding. The other two grinders that I own are going to go to Goodwill as a donation. Money well spent...

First among them is the size. When I went blender hunting on the internet, I insisted on finding a blender with a larger jar. My old blender held only 36 oz. and I discovered through experience that this size is much too small. I wanted something larger and this blender, with its 48 oz. glass jar, was exactly the size I was looking for. I also wanted more power and that is exactly what I got: A blender with 700 watts of force at its peak.
Next, I really like the stylish appearance of this blender. All of my new kitchen appliances are black in color and this appliance is no exception (it is also offered in white, for those who prefer it). Not only does the color make it look slick and attractive, it is also more slender in shape than the blenders of old. The base does spread out a little at the bottom but the overall shape tends toward the vertical, making it easier to fit into a small countertop space and also easier on the eyes.
Now for the most important factor: The blending ability. One of the reasons I selected this Hamilton beach model was because of its patented "Wave Action" technology. For those who are unfamiliar with this, it is a system that helps to blend drinks and other foods more thoroughly and efficiently via the design of the blades. Most blenders contain four blades that are more or less parallel to the countertop. But with Hamilton Beach Wave Action, two of the four blades are bent upward. This design helps to push ice and liquids down toward the blades for better blending.
I was skeptical about the claims made by Hamilton Beach at first but one use made an instant believer out of me. I started by mixing up a frozen drink- something that requires the ice to be crushed into tiny bits. This blender crushed the ice down to tiny particles in a matter of seconds. There was no need to stir the mixture by hand and try again, like with other blenders. The drink was completely mixed, smooth, and delicious. I could not detect even a single piece of ice that was too large. Every last bit of ice was crushed to perfection!
Overall, I am very happy with my Hamilton Beach Ensemble Model 54245 Wave Action Blender and I have no regrets about spending the extra money to obtain it. It not only looks good, it performs its main task with ease and perfection. Drinks come out silky smooth in a matter of seconds thanks to the Wave Action technology, making this Hamilton Beach Blender an appliance that I will continue to use and enjoy for a good long time.

Making and cleaning up after the shakes in a full sized blender was a huge pain, but with the personal blender it's ridiculously easy. I can also just throw the cups in the dishwasher, and since there are five cups, I always have a cup when I need one.I bought the product for protein shakes, but have since discovered a great bonus-use: The personal margarita. Too weak for some people, too strong for others? Not anymore. The ice-chopping blade works really well. The color coded rims also came in handy when having a party.
I have no complaints about this product.

(More customer reviews)This is a good blender. It crushes ice fine (although you must add liquid to create a vortex and move the pieces around) and hasn't died yet. Out of the box, it does not leak. Yes, it will leak liquid but only if you don't install replacement blades correctly. If you don't hear two clicks when seating the blade assembly, the gasket will not completely seal the assembly. Read the manual. Its not that hard to use and the replacement blades are a very nice feature. I'm giving it 4 stars because blade replacement isn't as obvious as it should be without reading the manual.

I installed the feed cables with #2 AWG after the first attempt with #8 left to much voltage drop to the unit. Like they tell you in the manual, DUH! Anyhow the unit worked flawlessly with our 19" Samsung HDTV, no retrace lines or any interference with the TV reception, something I was slightly worried about because of the "square sine" output of the unit. Using the unit for everyday AC uses, TV, laptop, digi camera and other chargers was perfect. We would often leave it on during our long day trips and everything would be charged when we got to our destinations. And while it did run our toaster and microwave, not at the same time, the unit would "whine" a bit while doing it. It does pull pretty hard on your battery according to your load. What I really like about the unit is the low amp draw in a no load condition,

(More customer reviews)Electrolux DLX-2000 Magic Mill Assistent Stand Mixer is a superb dough kneader. I make bread so I have not used it to make other food items. I took up bread making last year after a 25 year lapse. I started with an all in one bread maker but it was not versatile enough. I sold it. I then tried a Kitchen Aid Professional 600 which burned out after 5 minutes of kneading 6 cups of whole grain flour. I returned it. I bought the DLX-2000 and I haven't looked back. It handles 12 cups of whole grain flour without a hiccup. The resulting dough is beautiful.
This mixer is solidly constructed. The foot print is about the same as the large Kitchen Aid stand mixers but it is not as tall. It is much easier to use because the bowl is completely open. I bought the grain flaker attachment. I'll report later how it works.

(More customer reviews)The Magic Bullet 22 Piece with Bonus Travel/Storage Bag is a handy set of kitchen tools rolled into one motor base device. The initial concept of the product is ingenious, but the actual product is cheaply produced plastic with small tangs that will eventually break off rendering the unit less and less effective as time passes. The motor unit must be used as instructed or it will overheat and fail.

The mugs, and blender portion have small plastic tabs which lock it into the blade device, while the blade device loosely snaps into the motor base.
The reduced price and travel bag were the selling features for me. All 22 parts can be stored and remain clean, ready for use, while in the travel bag. The travel bag is quite large though and will require ample out of sight storage space.

Although the plastic parts are meant to be dishwasher safe, I do not recommend that they be washed in an automatic dishwasher due to the extremes in water hardness, detergents, and heat cycles, all of which are not standard throughout the planet. I strongly recommend hand washing of all plastic parts in mild dish soap and rack dry to preserve the integrity of the plastic parts.

Overall the unit will create all the dishes that are advertised on television, and possibly do a few more tasks that were not mentioned. Had the mating parts been made with a stainless locking band over the plastic, the longevity of the parts may have been extended, but since that is not the case, the usable lifetime of the plastic parts is dubious to say the least.
