Windows Installer Cleanup

Ever since Microsoft released its free windows installer cleanup utility, it has been recommended a number of times to help in resolving Microsoft installation issues. But the problem is that this windows installer cleanup discarded the software installation files only and not the entire program itself, leaving the process to start all over.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

Microsoft said that windows installer cleanup only enables the user to remove only the installation files that are somehow left behind in the un-installation process. These particular files are hard to remove by the un-installation utility itself. But let me remind you that windows installer cleanup does not do the un-installing process.

You still have to use Microsoft’s utility called the “Add/Remove Program” in the control panel option, or you may opt to use a different un-installation software you find fit to remove the installed program itself.

wic300WindowsInstallerCleanup

There are times that the existing Microsoft Office suite versions 2003, 2007, and 2010 cannot be uninstalled completely by just using the Add/Remove Program tool in windows XP version or Programs and Features tool in Windows Vista. You may need the windows installer cleanup utility if this does happen. The conditions involving this hard un-install may be one of the following:
• The installation activity was not able to finish its process alone, leaving the new program just partially installed. And then re-installing the same software again may lead you in another installation failure. Microsoft windows installer cleanup promises to repair this.

• You have successfully installed the program, but you now can’t remove it because of some corrupted installation file. The provided windows installer cleanup can resolve this.

• You were not able to install the Office suite 2010 previously.
It is common error that after un-installation, some components cannot be removed, that’s where the windows installer cleanup comes in.

While the Microsoft windows installer cleanup was proven to a be a very appropriate tool by many users, because it solved a lot of installation problems, but sadly, it was just recently discovered to corrupt some other segments of the Microsoft Windows OS, installed on the computer.

Even though, this windows installer cleanup utility has somehow failed to do its original intent, Microsoft Corporation has not left its users without a turnover. Another option that Microsoft provided to replace windows installer cleanup is a Fix it solution to completely remove the Microsoft Office suites version 2003, 2007 and 2010. Uninstalling Office 2010 Suites

728x90wicUninstallingOffice2010Suites

The Office 2010 suites are all great programs, and they are relatively easy to install. However, if you have the need to uninstall them, you must be sure it is done properly so that you get a windows installer cleanup when you reinstall. There are several ways that this can be accomplished. In most cases, the removal of Office 2010 suites can be done with no additional downloads, but there are some cases where a removal tool might need to be downloaded to assist in the removal process.

Scan, diagnose & repair errors on Windows installer.

The first, and arguably the simplest, way to remove Office 2010 is to do so via the Windows Control panel. You can get to the Control Panel from the start menu, or you can use the alternate method. For Windows XP and above, simply click Start and then click Run. In the open run box, type appwiz.cpl and click OK. This will take you directly to the add/remove programs section of the control panel. Once there, find the entry for Office 2010 in the list and select it for removal. Then simple click Uninstall or Remove (Windows XP) and you’re done.

Next, we’ll look at how to uninstall Office 2010 using the Microsoft Fix It utility. This utility can aid in removal when a standard uninstall fails. Be aware that this software will not remove components of Office 2010 that were installed separately.
wic300UninstallingOffice2010Suites

It will only remove the main Office 2010 suites package. You need to download the Fix It tool and save it to your computer. Then just double click the tool and let it run. A system restart will be required after the Fix It tool finishes its work. If you have to download the tool on a separate PC, simply save it to a flash drive or burn it to a CD so that you can run it on the computer that is having the issue.

The third way you can remove Office 2010 is by using the Program and Uninstall Troubleshooter. This took the place of the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility after it was found that the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility sometimes caused damage to components on the computer other than the ones it was attempting to uninstall. The last way to uninstall Office 2010 is to do so manually. The manual removal is a tedious and complicated process which should only be used as a last resort. Detailed information on the manual uninstall process can be found by searching on Microsoft.com.

The Microsoft Windows Installer 5.0 and Other Versions

728x90wicTheMicrosoftWindowsInstaller5.0andOtherVersions

Windows installer is a service the Windows provides for installation and configuration of programs. This service allows customers to give better corporate deployment for their software and provides a generalized format for the management of components. The windows installer cleanup also allows advertisement of applications and features depending up on the operating system. The most recent version is Windows Installer 5.0, but we’ll look at previous versions as well. Be aware that some features contained within the new version may not be available in the older versions.

Scan, diagnose & repair errors on Windows installer.

Beginning with version 3.0, Windows Installer cleanup utility allows for multiple patches to be installed with a single transaction. This serves to integrate installation progress, rollbacks if necessary, and system reboots. Additionally, the installer allows patches to be applied in a specified order even if the patches were not provided to the system in the same order. When patching, the 3.0 installer will not update any files aside from those affected by the patch. This allow for much faster patching than previous installer versions.

The 4.5 version of Windows Installer allows for multiple installation packages to be installed using a feature called transaction processing.

wic300TheMicrosoftWindowsInstaller5.0andOtherVersions

If all packages cannot be successfully installed, or if the installation process is cancelled by the user, the installer can “roll back” any changes that were made and return the computer to the state it was originally in before the install was attempted.

The 5.0 version of Windows Installer adds a few features. Packages can now be created to secure new accounts as well as Windows services, registry keys, folders and files. The packages authored with this version of Windows Installer can specify security descriptors which can specify inheritance of permissions from a parent source, specify permissions for new accounts, or deny permissions if needed. This version can also enumerate all components installed on a computer and can obtain key paths for each component.

Not all versions of the installer will work with the same versions of Windows. Windows Installer 3.0 requires Windows 2000 with SP3, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP. The 4.0 version will only work on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008. The 4.5 version has a bit broader range of compatibility. Windows Installer 4.5 will work on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, and it will also work with Windows XP (service pack 2 and later) and Windows Server 2003 (service pack 1 and later). The 5.0 version of Windows Installer will only work with Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

The Story of Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

728x90wicTheStoryofWindowsInstallerCleanupUtility

Originally, the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility was included with previous versions of Windows. The purpose of the Windows Installer Cleanup utility was to clear the registry of errors and other problems that may have occurred during installation. You could find it in your main Hard Drive as MSICUU2.exe. It was officially retired by Microsoft on June 25, 2010. Copies of the utility program still exist through third-party sites. It is not recommended that you use these copies as they may contain viruses, malware, spyware, or other malicious software.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

Yet many have downloaded this third-party Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, which has no Microsoft signature, and run the program. Many have encountered problems, others have not. All the utility will do is change certain registry values which were associated solely with Windows installer. Truly, if nothing else seems to work, it might apply as an emergency application.

However, the information on this matter is conflicting and this is a warning. A certain degree of variance in program function is to be expected, but you can watch the forums and see that there are rather extreme disagreements on the matter. This is not good, let’s face it.

wic300TheStoryofWindowsInstallerCleanupUtility

This brings us to the subject of utilities that will effectively clean out PCs of not only Windows Installer problems, but will also clear up other issues compromising PC functions. That brings us to what are typically referred to as PC Cleaners or Registry Cleaners. I imagine a digital human running around at processing speed with a scrubbing mop moving through all of the circuits. I can’t help but mention, because it is funny to me. On a serious note, however, some of these programs can be exceptionally effective and useful.

You will need to be careful selecting a program to use. From personal experience, many of them do nothing or little and really do more harm than good. It also ends up costing you money well spent and it isn’t difficult to get refunds. Check closely for the highest rated programs from multiple points of view.

One of the rising stars in this arena is pc repair software. This is a particularly effective utility that goes through all components of your PC and truly cleans up the damage. It is worth the investment on this one.
Get all the information you can before making a choice, but I think I just made the better recommendation. Good luck and may your PCs be clean and smooth-running.

Removing Windows Installer Service from your PC

728x90wicRemovingWindowsInstallerServicefromyourPC

Unfortunately it is not possible to entirely remove Microsoft Windows Installer from your Windows OS. Deletion of the “system32” folder won’t work either because it simply replicates itself upon deletion. This is a built-in security option. So, outside of wiping your entire hard drive and just starting over, which will also prove problematic, you can disable the Windows Installer Cleanup Service and then it will no longer create the problems you have been experiencing.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

Fortunately, this is an easy process. Go to the start menu. For certain Windows versions, you will have to click “run” in order to open the search box. In the box, type “services.msc” then execute. Open the services folder that comes up. Click the services folder icon. A window will open that is a scroll-down folder of all applications and their operational status.

Simply scroll down to where it reads, “Windows Installer”. There is a column reading “Startup Type”. In the scroll-down menu point for Windows Installer, this column should show “manual” as its status. This means that the service is in operation. Double-click on “Windows Installer”.

wic300RemovingWindowsInstallerServicefromyourPC

There is a tab above which is labeled “General”. On that tab, you can find “Startup Type” and it will read “manual“ in the column. If you proceed to click the arrow aside from the box, the option to disable will arise. Select disable is the last step.

Usually you will have to restart your system for these changes to take effect. One point to remember is that you should create a system restore point before you take these actions. This is like an insurance policy in the event that another unwanted PC problem were to arise. When you set a system restore point, it is similar to a “do-over” option like we had in games when we were kids. I cannot emphasize this point enough. Create a system restore point before changing any of the programming options for your computer operating system.

It is also a helpful option to purchase good PC Cleaner software. This will identify and eliminate all errors in your registry, and in all other aspects of your operating system. Caution and careful research is suggested if you purchase such software. Search for Top Registry Cleaner Programs, and also do a search to find review and comparisons. One primary recommendation is Uniblue:
This is one among many that has a good review. Even more of them have no appreciable effect on your computer at all and many contain malicious software. Search well and these Windows Installer Problems should be eliminated.

What is msicuu2.exe and how to Approach it.

Within the program files of most Microsoft versions, you can find a file titled,”msicuu2.exe”. This is the executable file for the Microsoft Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. This is a touchy issue because some people believe this to be a useful utility while others do not. Microsoft discontinued the utility on June 25, 2010. It apparently caused problems with Office 2007, or at least that was the ground for retiring the utility. It is easiest to find the utilitymsicuu2.exe by doing a simple file search. You may activate the utility with a double click or it may already be running. Don’t do anything yet. I will present some advice that may be useful.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

If you have discovered that the
windows Installer Cleanup Utility has caused you difficulty, do not try to delete it. It will simply replicate itself again. There may be a way around this, but I am unaware. You can, however, disable it so that it does not cause unwanted difficulty in your operating system.

Fortunately, this is an easy process. Go to the start menu. For certain Windows versions, you will have to click “run” in order to open the search box. In the box, type “services.msc” then executes.

There is a tab above which is labeled “General”. On that tab, you can find “Startup Type” and it will read “manual “in the column. If you proceed to click the arrow aside from the box, the option to disable will arise. Select disable is the last step.

Now the executable file is disabled and you may proceed to add more effective Registry/ PC cleanup software. You should search for the top-rated software. Be careful about your purchase, the demonstrations included with the free downloads can be misinformation. You will see in the top ratings what programs will be best. A good registry cleaning software will serve you much better than msicuu2.exe. If you find that to be contrary, check the operations of your Office edition. Then, if you have no problem either way, I suppose you could choose not to concern yourself with it.

However, don’t underestimate the usefulness of registry cleaning software/ PC cleaning software. When it is good, it is exceptionally useful.
Msicuu2.exe executable utility is no longer supported by Microsoft. It is best to use an Alternative software that demonstrates a better alternative.

Errors with Windows Installer

Windows installer can sometimes accumulate errors. When you begin to receive constant Windows Installer error messages, you are probably having difficulty installing Windows updates as well. The aim of this article is to give you some suggestions on how to remedy this situation.Windows Installer Cleanup.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

You are fortunate with Windows to have a System Restore utility. Go to the start menu. Click Control Panel. Next, click System and Security then click

Next there will be a blue prompt at the bottom of the window that will read “Recover system settings or your computer”. Click that next. A window should come up with a highlighted icon reading “Open System Restore.” Click that and you will be given a window asking permission for Window System Restore to make changes to your computer. Select “yes”. The window which will then open informs you that once you begin this process, you will be unable to stop or reverse it. Take note of that and then click Next or Continue.

At this point it will give you a list of potential restore points. You want to choose one that is prior to the faulty update causing the problems. Some versions of Windows have the option for you to highlight a restore point on the list and “check for affected programs”. Doing this will let you see what programs will be removed, restored, or affected by the system restore. Once you have found the ideal restore point, select it and execute. Your system will stay up for a moment and then it will shut down step by step and once it has fully shut down, it will automatically restart. Do not push any buttons at all once you have started the system restore process. Do not turn your power on or off manually during the process at any time even if your computer stays off for 30 seconds. Once it restarts, it will prompt you to reboot, and that is all you have to do.

At this point it might me a good idea to have Windows check for updates. This way you can get the correct updates installed instead of the problem updates you had difficulty before.

If the system restore did not work, you are dealing with a more serious issue that is most likely a registry error or several registry errors. About 85% of installer errors are the result of a corrupted or fragmented registry entry.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

Registry errors can also slow your PC speed down significantly. It is strongly advised that you purchase good Registry Cleaner software. The market is loaded with different options and I will warn you that most of them are garbage, a total rip-off. Using a good search engine, enter “Top Registry Cleaners” in the search window. It should be one of the first icons that comes up. It will give you an honest listing of the most effective registry tools. Two that I can recommend are Uniblue, which is probably the best in my opinion, or Reg-Tool, another good one that has had favorable reviews. Always research the reviews of the software before you buy it so you save yourself the trouble of getting worthless software.

Cleaning up Windows Vista

728x90wicCleaningupWindowsVista

Windows Vista does not have the same Windows Installer Cleanup Utility that other versions of Windows do. The Windows Installer is better and it seems like many of the bugs and mishaps have been cleared up. Despite this, Vista does still need a good clean up every now and then. Yes, even Vista gets cluttered.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

Windows Vista is Microsoft’s newest brainchild and a fresh operating system that has many new features. User interface has been greatly improved as well. The bad news is that since its 2006 release, there have been many negative issues with performance and substantial accumulations of junk files.

Windows Vista requires an additional program to clean it regularly so that it does not get bogged down with system-slowing clutter that makes it prone to errors.
Like many software programs, it benefits from a good registry cleaner.

wic300CleaningupWindowsVista

Registry cleaning software is so often ignored and taken for granted that it blows my mind. I use an excellent registry cleaning software and I have a fairly powerful system that operates many applications at one time. With Windows Vista, Windows Installer Cleanup Utility is not going to do the job at all. Save yourself the trouble.

I will recommend two registry cleaning software programs that are rated among the very best. Windows Installer Cleanup Utility is out the door with Vista. The first registry cleaner I wanted to recommend is called PC Health Pack.

However, after I had already completed writing about it being a good program, I discovered that Microsoft is alerting people that it is a corrupt program. I checked on this and it is verified by many users. In fact, you should avoid the links to it, as they could harm your computer. That leaves the one that I know I can trust:
This registry cleaning software program that I can recommend is called pc repair software. It is highly rated and pc repair software scans the entire registry for all errors, removes all junk files, eliminates privacy items, checks for updates for commonly used essential programs, repairs bad Active X and re-registers them, optimizes memory and general performance. It helps you identify excessive start-up programs and suggests a reversible removal of them. The program even optimizes your internet connection, increasing speed even further. This is the one that I use personally and I love it. I have never had to use anything like the old Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Here is a link to help you find it.

Click Here to run a scan and detect Windows Error! Fix all errors!

This is one of those instances in which Windows Installer Cleanup Utility will do you no service with Vista. The good news about Vista is that it has an enhanced version of the Disk Cleanup Tool. This is a bit different than the Installer Cleanup Utility. Disk cleanup does just that; it cleans the registry and hard drive of all unnecessary files, freeing up both RAM and Hard-drive memory. It erases all of the junk, to put it simply and speeds up your system. What more can I say? All the solutions are right in this article to clean Windows Vista to a pristine system state.
