Where can I find the best
and newest Everquest
information?
I try to keep up with that here. I
have played EQ for years and have been a gamer for
much longer. Everything from Hunt the Wumpus through
The Realm to my current addiction to Evercrack. I
play a level 85 enchanter with over 1000 AA's and have
invested a LOT of time finding information and insights into the
game.
Here I am going to try to save you
the trouble I had of gathering information about what pursuits in
the game are most fruitful. Need an easy way to raise skills? I
have found the info on what needs to be done. Are you having a hard
time with a quest? You can find out how to proceed here, and what
you can expect to gain from the quest as well. Here are my
resources for the game and they have made playing much more
enjoyable for me, and I hope they will for you too.
As a general resource it is hard
to beat Allakhazam's. An encyclopedic site
handicapped by a terrible name to type into a URL. The information
offered by the site is thorough and most of the data can be found
in the freeware version. If you try out the site and find it to be
as useful as I have, there is the subscription version. It adds
greatly enhanced search functions and removes the advertisements
which are on the freeware version. The URL is http://everquest.allakhazam.com/
One of the strong points of the
site are the ability to enter your character data into a tool and
from your character information you can see what upgrades are
available, where the upgrades can be obtained and even see data
about defeating the mob to get the upgrade. Another nice tool is
the Lucy database which can offer in depth information about items,
spells and the inner workings of the game. The site has grown over
the years and now there is a huge collection of sites all under the
banner of http://www.zam.com/ which covers not only
Everquest but many of the currently
popular games such as World of Warcraft, Dark Age of Camelot, Eve
Online, Everquest II, Final Fantasy, Legends of
Norrath, Lord of the Rings, Star wars
Galaxy, Warhammer and others.
Just getting around in
EQ
can take a little getting used to. I believe EQ offers the
largest and most detailed gaming world available. The game has
grown in the telling and the playing..through 15 expansions it has
really gotten huge. The in game map atlas helps a lot, but even
it starts out as a blank slate sometimes. The tool to take care of
that problem is at http://www.mapfiend.net/ where they host a complete
collection of all the known maps for EQ. Believe me,
these come in very handy when you are trying to find your way
around.
Trade skills can also be a
sometimes gratifying and sometimes frustrating pass time. When you
need to plot a course of action to get better at trade
skills the best resource I have found is located at http://www.eqtraders.com/ All the information on
crafted items is gathered together to make life much easier for
trade
skillers. They have an active forum where the newest
formulas are traded. The emphasis of the site is trade
skills and the data is organized to make you much more
effective and able to advance quickly. There is a resource on this
page that can let you find more about EQ as well.
They have a link button on the side bar that offers a large
collection of EQ data and memorabilia. Specialized
class sites can be found in those links if you are trying to
perfect play or trying to get incite on how to handle class
specific problems.
Perhaps one of the best sites for
up to date progression information regarding the newest SOD
expansion is http://home.comcast.net/~mathadon/Guides/SoF/index.html
where you can determine what needs to be done to advance, what
rewards are available and what quests can be done. This is a really
excellent site and one of my newest resources.
Another wonderful resource can be
found at http://samanna.net/navigation.shtml where
progression is detailed through the last several expansions. They
have also created an active forum with many helpful
users.
Last but certainly not least from
an enchanters viewpoint is our preeminent class site at http://www.therunes.net/ where Breeze has helped
fledgling enchanters to lovingly
progress for many years. Her efforts on our behalf have been
truly heroic and I recommend the site to
players of all classes just to see what a class site should be
like.
