I've found that high blood pressure is a increasing problem throughout many parts of the world.  To try to figure out why, I did some research.

Salt is actually a necessity to the human body.  The average necessary amount ranges from 1600 mg to 2400 mg daily.  The amounts found in many foods is astonishing.

The United States population takes in about 4500 milligrams of sodium daily.  Knowing that, it's no surprise that high blood pressure is sucha problem to so many people.

How is it that we ingest so much sodium?  Take a look at this list of common foods.

Fast Food Chicken Sandwiches, Clubs OR Cheeseburgers:  770 to 1400 mg Muffins:  530 mg Pizza (one slice):  720 to 750 mg Fish Sandwich:  530 mg Fries (lg):  up to 900 mg

This is just a quick snapshot of foods we grab on the go.  Imagine adding the foods we bring home from the super market.

Remember how much sodium is really necessary.  Then look at the amount of sodium packed into the foods you are getting ready to purchase.  Then ask if high blood pressure is really worth it.

Start paying attention to how much sodium you're actually taking in. Read labels, and be prepared to be stunned. If you're not already dealing with high blood pressure, chances are you're not far from becoming one of the statistics.

Normal blood pressure does not have to be a life long pursuit.
