Scottsdale’s police and fire chiefs will definitely get down and
dirty at Saturday's Mighty Mud Mania. It may not be clean fun, but
the purpose is pure -- to help highlight the importance of city
afterschool programs as well as to boost donations to Scottsdale’s
Vista del Camino Food Bank.

The community’s help is needed to support Vista del Camino’s Back
to School program. Each year, eligible children are provided with
two sets of new clothing, socks, underwear, a pair of shoes, a
backpack and school supplies. The program assists up to 500
school-aged children in Scottsdale each year.

Scottsdale’s McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park recently installed a
new playground with help from a grant from the Fiesta Bowl. That
partnership will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 31, when
a plaque is dedicated at the park, located at 7301 E. Indian Bend
Road.

Thursday, June 7, and you can learn about Xiwang, a city powered by
solar, wind, bio-fuels and aneutronic fusion -- defined as any form

total energy released. The free program, “Innovative, Practical and
Down to Earth Green Projects in Scottsdale and Beyond,” is from 7

Construction is underway on the dollarsignr42.8 million expansion
of the Tony Nelssen Equestrian Center at WestWorld. When complete,
the modernized facility will accommodate horse shows, auto
auctions, trade shows and other events year-round in an
air-conditioned facility of more than 300,000 square feet.
