Summary: Comments on: How to Avoid Music Marketing Overload (AKA Mushy Brain Syndrome!)

More Fans, More Sales, More Gigs!

By: Jonathon Hockley

Great article. I agree with most of it apart from this bit here
“I’ve got a job, so I have no time to work on my music career but loads of time to play angry birds four hours a day.”

I get that angry birds is a waste of time but i don’t think time is the problem here. It’s more down to mental state, mood etc. Full time jobs can leave you feeling exhausted, mentally drained. This is turn can make it hard to focus on anything but the most mundane tasks such as angry birds. An entrepreneur or a creative person needs to look after brain just as importantly as their diary. If you must get a full time job, get one where; either you have time to go about your music activities or one that is in such a similar line of work that it compliments your thought processes.

So in conclusion, im not fully disagreeing, if you find yourself in a job where all you can do with your free time is play angry birds then you are probably in the wrong job.

Hey Chris, thanks for your comment man and the great tips!

I have been reading all your blog posts, really love what you are doing.

I’m a big fan of Tim Ferris too, in fact I’m going to buy his new book “The 4 Hour Body” today so I look forward to becoming super human over the next few weeks ;-)

Keep in touch.

Great article! I’m seeing a lot of promotion blogs that recommending a million social media services without really concentrating on band time management.

I have a full time job, trying to start a band, and starting to do pro-blogging. Time management is definitely an issue, so I’ll definitely use your tips.

In addtion to your article, I’d recommend Tim Ferris’s “The 4 Hour Workweek” as well as Mark Levy’s “Accidental Genius”. Ferris’s book focuses on time management and ridding yourself of unnecessary time wasters. Levy’s book is about generating great ideas through writing in 10 minute blocks.
