Maytag Refrigerator Recall: Do to potential fire hazard!
Maytag announced a voluntary recall with the U.S. Consumer Product
Safety Commission of 1.8 million refrigerators due to an electrical
problem that could create a fire hazard. The products were
manufactured in the United States and sold in the both the United
States and Canada between 2001 and 2004 with prices ranging from
$350 to $1600 through department, appliance and homebuilder
stores.
The recall includes certain models of Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana,
Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag, and Crosley brand black,
bisque, white, or stainless steel side by side and top freezer
refrigerators. Refrigerators with freezers on the bottom are not
part of this recall.
The recall involves a defect in an electrical relay bought from a
supplier. Maytag said an electrical failure in a relay component
that turns on the refrigerator’s compressor can overheat and pose a
serious fire hazard.
Maytag said two incidents have been reported in Canada with no one
hurt in either case. In the United States there have been 41
reports of trouble, include 16 incidents of property damage ranging
from smoke damage to major kitchen damage.
These Refrigerator’s have model and serial numbers printed on a
label located on the top middle or left upper side of the
refrigerator liner. Owners should contact Maytag to determine if
their refrigerator is included in the recall and to schedule a free
in home repair. Owners should not return the refrigerator to the
retailer where it was purchased.

It’s Daylight Saving Time again.
Daylight Saving Time, DST for short, is the convention of advancing
clocks so that afternoons have more daylight and mornings have
less. Typically clocks are adjusted forward one hour near the start
of spring and are adjusted backward in the fall. On March 8, 2009
at 02:00 AM local time move your clock forward to 03:00 AM. This
applies to The United States, Canada, The United Kingdom, Cuba, and
France.
Contrary to popular belief Daylight Saving Time was not invented by
Benjamin Franklin. Although he anonymously published a satire
suggesting that People could economize on candles by rising earlier
to use morning sunlight. Actually an English architect and
outdoorsman, William Willett proposed the idea of DST in 1907. This
would allow him more time to play golf late in the day, during the
summer months. Although Daylight saving(s) time is a common
variant, William Willett's original proposal used the term daylight
saving time.
During World War I Germany and its allies were the first to
implement Daylight Saving Time to save fuel. Britain, the rest of
Europe, Russia and the United States quickly followed. The United
States adopted DST in 1918.
Adding an hour of sunlight at the end of the day is primarily a
"lifestyle benefit," but it's mainly the promise of energy savings
that got this bill passed in 2005. The theory behind the fuel
savings is that most people sleep through sunrise and businesses
are closed, also most people are up at sunset and businesses are
open. So if you can move the daylight to the evening, you have the
potential to save a lot of energy. Similarly, while bad guys are
usually asleep in the early morning, dusk brings about prime time
for crime. The extra light late in the day decreases the crime
rate. Later light also reduces car crashes, which tend to increase
after dark.
Clock shifts are usually scheduled near a weekend midnight to
lessen disruption to weekday schedules. The US altered the dates
for DST in 2007, often referred to as the “Y2k7” problem. Starting
in 2007, most of the United States and Canada observe DST from the
second Sunday in March to the first Sunday in November, almost
two-thirds of the year. Previously, from 1987 through 2006, the
start and end dates were the first Sunday in April and the last
Sunday in October.
A common practice while adjusting your clocks is to change the
batteries in your home smoke detectors.

There is an online business opportunity to process rebate checks
from a company called "Process at Home." The program says that you
can make lots of money processing rebates from the comfort of your
own home.
As more and more workers find themselves unemployed, people will do
just about anything to find work. Often desperate times call for
desperate measures. But you need to think before you act.
There are many dead giveaways that companies use when they don’t
want you to know what they are selling. They include evasive
language, bragging about how much money you are going to make, and
an emphasis on buying quickly without thinking first.
The way the Process at Home program works is that you sign up to be
an affiliate for companies selling digital products online. An
affiliate marketer is someone who promotes a product and if they
refer a sale they get a commission, usually between 15-50% of the
total price.
In this case you are instructed to advertise, market and sale these
products but at the same time offering a rebate on the product
themselves. Then if you get a sale you process the rebate simply by
giving a portion of your commission back to the customer.
This method might work if you are an experienced internet marketer
and have sold products online. However this is not a rebate
processing job, it is only a marketing strategy.
This is not an outright scam but it is misleading to the point
where some people have started calling it a scam. They know what
they are doing is misleading and untruthful, but they continue to
sell it, says the Better Business Bureau. The BBB has received
hundreds of complaints about "Process at Home" and graded the
company an "F".
They are really designed to take money in and not give it back.
Employers pay you, not the other way around. If an employer is
asking for money from you, it's probably a scam.

The American Idol Wild Card round was tonight. Half the eight
candidates in the Wild Card round had a chance to advance. The
American Idol Wild Card results are in, and four winners are: Megan
Corkrey, Anoop Desai, Matt Giraud, and Jasmine Murray. It's going
to be a Top 13, instead of a Top 12.
The four will join those who were already selected due to viewer
votes: Alexis Grace, Allison Iraheta, Adam Lambert, Danny Gokey,
Jorge Nunez, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Michael Sarver and Scott
MacIntyre.
Megan Corkrey, won over the judges with a version of KT Tunstall's
"Black Horse & Cherry Tree." Paula said half heartedly "I
enjoyed watching you", Kara gave her a huge plug to go through,
while Simon and Randy liked her despite her vocal weaknesses.
Jasmine Murray, succeeded by singing Christina Aguilera's
"Reflection." The judges said she was better than last time, Paula
said she was "determined," and Simon finally saying she was in the
running.
With just one slot left, Matt Giraud and Anoop Desai, were both
called up; and after Matt was told he was advancing, Anoop was
called back and informed they were increasing the finalists' field
to 13, making room for him.
Matt Giraud, sang the Smokey Robinson song (attributed on the show
to the Jackson 5) "Who's Loving You". All the judges thought he was
a thousand times better though Simon did not like his Justin
Timberlake look.
Anoop Desai repeated an earlier performance, of Bobby Brown's "My
Perogative,". The audience loved him and Simon said he's not much
of a singer but people like him, The Judges weigh personality as
well as singing ability and said his winning charm would get him
through. At its conclusion he recognized his University of North
Carolina campus in Chapel Hill, which was marking the one year
anniversary of the shooting death of student body president Eve
Carson.
Fox announced next week on March 11th Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson
will perform at the live results show. West will sing "Heartless"
and Clarkson will perform "My Life Would Suck Without Out".
The American Idol winner receives a million dollar record deal with
a major label, and is managed by American Idol-related management.
Other finalists have also been signed by the show's management
company and received record deals with its major label partner.
