Stay 19- by 14-Foot Eight-Person Family Tentis no good. Its poor
design made it function like a huge parachute. I set it up in my
back yard to apply seam sealer and the tent disintegrated in less
than 24 hours in a 10 to 15 MPH breeze. I had attached all clips to
the poles and the tent was fully staked except for one loop inside,
which stabilized the door in the room divider. The two main
fiberglass poles that supported the rain fly split lengthwise and
then sheered in two. The tent collapsed to the ground and could not
be righted without replacement parts. I cannot believe that Eureka
put their name on this tent.

About Eureka Though the exact year is unknown, Eurekas long
history begins prior to 1895 in Binghamton, New York, where the
company still resides today. Then known as the Eureka Tent &
Awning Company, its first wares were canvas products--most notably,
Conestoga wagon covers and horse blankets for nineteenth century
American frontiersmen--as well as American flags, store awnings,
and camping tents.
The company increased production of its custom canvas products
locally throughout the 1930s and during the 1940 and even
fabricated and erected the IBM "tent cities" just outside
Binghamton. The seven acres of tents housed thousands of IBM
salesmen during the companys annual stockholders meeting, which
had since outgrown its previous locale. In the 1940s, with the
advent of World War II and the increased demand for hospital ward
tents, Eureka expanded operations and began shipping tents
worldwide. Ultimately, upon the post-war return of the GIs and the
resultant housing shortage, Eureka turned its attention to the home
front during the 1950s by supplying awnings for the multitude of
mobile homes that were purchased.
In 1960, Eurekas new and innovative Draw-Tite tent, with its
practical, free standing external frame, was used in a Himalayan
Expedition to Nepal by world renowned Sir Edmund Hillary, the first
person documented to summit Mt. Everest only six years earlier. In
1963, Eureka made history during its own Mt. Everest ascent, with
more than 60 of its tents sheltering participants from fierce 60+
mph winds and temperatures reaching below -20°F during the first
all American Mt. Everest Expedition.
For backpackers and families, Eureka introduced its legendary
Timberline tent in the 1970s. Truly the first StormShield design,
this completely self-supporting and lightweight backpacking tent
became one of the most popular tents the entire industry with sales
reaching over 1 million by its ten year anniversary.
Eureka tents have also traveled as part of several historic
expeditions, including the American Womens Himalayan Expedition to
Annapurna I in 1978 and the first Mt. Everest ascents by a Canadian
and American woman in 1986 and 1988. In recent history, tents
specially designed and donated by Eureka sheltered Eric Simonson
and his team on two historic research expeditions to Mount Everest,
this time in a quest for truth regarding the 1924 attempted summit
of early English explorers George Mallory and Andrew Irvine. During
the 1999 expedition, the team made history finding the remains of
George Mallory, but the complete mystery remained unsolved.
Returning in 2001 to search for more clues, the team found amazing
historical artifacts which are now on display at the
Smithsonian.
Amazon.com Tent Guide Selecting a Tent Fortunately, there are all
kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and
everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Expect the Worst In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's
designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think
you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a
region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all
purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is
nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather
swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer,
or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take
something designed to handle more adversity.
Three- and Four-Season Tents For summer, early fall and late spring
outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three
season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced
floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season
tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically
designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium
tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a
silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.
For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model.
Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as
well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy
snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season
tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for
their strength and durability. They also tend to be more
expensive.
Domes and Tunnels Tents are broadly categorized into two types,
freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must
be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often
incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are
constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the
outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently
stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models
employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are
still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use
less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that
offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and
two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by
being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also
be quicker to set up than a dome.
Size Matters Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your
fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists,
check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you
have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a
waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks
feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing
room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save
weight, check out open-air shelters.
Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a
wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your
little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also
available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition
tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier
it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components
among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare
the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're
considering.

(More customer reviews)The Black Pine
Turbo Tent is just what we wanted. Excellent quality materials and
some extra neat features. Video showing one-minute setup needs
refining. After several dry runs we got it down to 5-7 minutes from
unzippering the bag to installing the fly. .....very good for
seniors eh! Well it isn't all praises here. The screen house has 6
sides and 6 poles that meet in the centre top hub. You really and I
mean really have to push up hard to get the top to flip up into
place. It goes up with quite a force but that's OK because there is
only air above. But take it down by pulling the handle and watch
out because now you are under it. I would venture to say that one
could get seriously injured by the downward force created by the
reverse procedure in lowering the roof/ceiling. So A+ for the tent
and C- for the instructions and the lack of warning here.

(More customer reviews)I've had this tent
over a year and used it enough to let you know that for this price,
there's probably not a better tent out there unless you need
something designed for cold weather. I've camped out in this tent
down to about 38 degrees with a decent sleeping bag and felt no ill
effects.
The tent is a pretty basic dome tent that takes about 15 minutes to
get up using the included poles and stakes. A nice feature on this
tent is the two "legs" that extend from the basic dome. They have
easy access from the outside and they're great for storing gear
that would otherwise take up valuable floor space.
The tent is made from a lightweight nylon with a heavier, tub style
bottom to keep the moisture out. The tent itself has open
windows/vents on top but when covered with the supplied fly it does
feel like an enclosed tent. I've camped in this through a night of
rain and we remained dry inside with our gear. The zippers on the
doors and windows worked normally without any complaints and did
there job as well.
While this tent is listed as being able to sleep 4 people, it would
be a very tight squeeze. I fit a queen size air mattress in it with
not much room to spare except for the "legs". To me, this is more
of a 2 or maybe 3 person tent but I think you would be hard pressed
to fit 4 people in.
The tent comes with all the necessary poles and stakes and stores
in the included storage bag. The assembly instructions are actually
sewn onto the storage bag so there always there if you need
them.
I would have given this tent 5 stars but, it shouldn't be listed as
a 4 person tent. However, for a 2/3 person tent that isn't going to
be used for extreme conditions, this tent is a great buy.

(More customer reviews)I love everything
about this tent except the rainfly. It does not deflect rain. It
collects it. My first tent collapsed under the weight of collected
rain in the fly. The steel poles fractured & tore multiple
holes through the tent sides. We did have flood conditions in that
storm so I let it go to 'the not so normal heavy rains'. I really
liked everything else about it so I ordered another one. It is very
spacious, has sturdy fabric & can be set up by one person very
easily. However, the new tent also endured a thunderstorm &
continued to collect rain. The best thing to do in rain is unhook
the fly from the fly poles & stake the fly directly to the
ground. It has a straight line & works better. Now that I
figured that out I love it, but, it was an expensive lesson.

(More customer reviews)I bought this sled
last year at the end of the season at a closeout sale and finally
used it this past weekend. Here's what I like about it.
1. It holds five rods and has a built in bucked holder to keep your
stuff where is is supposed to be
2. The small tray in the front keeps those things you need readily
at hand
3. There is ample space for a few tip ups, my fishing camera and a
spare pair of gloves, skimmers, bait and lots of other stuff.
4. The runners are elevated about 2" to make pulling through the
snow a breeze.
Here's what I don't like about it:
1. You'll need to carry your auger separatly...there is no way to
balance it on the sled without making additional modifications.
This wasn't a deal breaker considering I only paid $20 for it and
invested another $20 to make a holder for my Eskimo 8" gas powered
auger.
All in all is a great sled and exceeds my expectations. I'd have
paid more for it, but glad I didn't have to. I have a Jet sled that
I have used for dragging my ice fishing gear out for a couple of
years, but I really prefer the glide lite. Granted you will be able
to get more in Jet Sled, but not nearly as organized and it will be
more difficult to pull.

(More customer reviews)We bought one of
these tents to 'try out' before purchasing 13 of them for our boy
scout troop. It didn't rain on the camp out(extremely unusual), so
we showered it from above with a garden hose. The only leaks were
through the stitching around the door and window (these seams were
not sealed by manufacturer). In general, the boys do like the tent
but we thought from the description and photo that we were getting
a 12' SQUARE tent which would hold 3 cots. The tent is actually a
HEXAGON which means you have 6 five and a half foot sides and can
only place 2 cots in the middle. We really haven't decided yet
whether to try taping the door/window seams and going with these
tents or to purchase something else. We are still looking.

and encountered the same problems. The problems didn't end with the
instructions having a misprint with the bold. They continued to the
supporting bars (the main support that held up the net). They don't
fit together....it seems like the engineer for this system forgot
to calculate for the paint on the "tight fit" of the support and
paint stripper must be used to remove the paint in order for the
parts to fit. What a nightmare! I have yet to finish assembling
mine. My friend finished the project in 7 hours. I don't have 7
hours to remanufacture this disaster. I tried a jillion times to
call tech. support with spalding. Conviently, no matter what hour
you call, nobody answers. I'm going to see if I can return this to
the store I purchased at.
Don't waste you money and toture yourself.

(More customer reviews)My kids got the 14'
Airzone Band Trampoline less than 2 years ago. It was great while
we had it, but the protective mat that goes over the bands doesn't
last. Ours has deteriorated to the point the bands are showing
through. We had a near fatal accident as a result when a small
child's foot fell through the tears in the mat and got stuck
between the bands. He toppled head first off the trampoline and
could have broken his foot or his head had his mother not been
standing right there to catch him.
The metal legs bend in, so we have to pull them out every time we
want to use it. They aren't rusting, nor have the screws come loose
like I've heard others complain, but they don't look extremely
sturdy either.
I called Bravo Sports Corp to replace the mat, but they don't offer
any replacments. You have to buy the entire mat, bands and jumping
surface, and that costs over $200. It's because everything is sewn
together. The company representative I spoke to on the phone was
apathetic. So their customer service is poor, too. Just remember:
you get what you pay for. We paid less than $400 for the trampoline
and enclosure, and it lasted 2 years. My friends paid $800 for a
Costco trampoline 10 years ago, and they're still jumping on
it.

received a Sportcraft tether tennis set (similar to tether ball)

you will have to return the game back to the store for a full

(More customer reviews)I have owned a
number of large tents over the years, from Colemans to North Face,
and I guess its true that you get what you pay for. On our recent
trip to Moab (southern Utah) with a few other families, I made the
decision to buy a decent tent for this years trip. My friend could
not understand why the price difference between our new Paha Que
and his Kelty that he got at Wal-Mart.
On the third night a storm blew through, as they often do in the
desert, and it got suprisingly windy. All of us who were camping in
tents had run out our guide ropes in anticipation of some windier
weather, and glad we did, although it didn't seem to help some of
the others.
About 2am the wind got really heavy, and two of the other tents
just collapsed! This is the part where I realized the extra money I
spent was worth it. We ended up taking some of the other kids into
our tent - we had a total of 4 adults and 6 kids in our tents,
while the remainder slept in their vehicles until the morning.
We were able to repair the rest of the tents to last the rest of
the trip, but our tent won the "built like a brick s--- house"
award on this trip. There was no sign of any wear and tear on the
tent at all. Very impressive. This is my first Paha Que tent, and
it seems to be as good as everyone says they are. I will recommend
it to all my friends.

about:
Paha Que Perry Mesa 14-by 10-Foot Eight-Person Tent
with Screen Room
The largest and most versatile tent manufactured by Paha Qué
Wilderness, the Perry Mesa tent uses state-of-the art fabrics,
innovative design, and high-quality components for performance that
ensures a trouble-free camping experience. This tent combines the
best features and benefits of Paha Qué tents and screen rooms into
a very functional shelter.
The tent section can be completely sealed off and will provide a
waterproof shelter. A large door can open to the screen room
section of the shelter to create one large room. The screen room
has awnings onto all three sides which can be attached as awnings,
rolled up, or put down to cover a side of the tent from wind, rain,
or sun. With all three awnings pulled down, the screen room can
also be sealed off to create a floorless tent area. Add the Perry
Mesa Tent Footprint (available separately), and you can create one
large sealed tent.
With its large no-see-um grade mesh roof, two large doors, three
windows, and the screen room, the Perry Mesa provides excellent
ventilation, visibility around camp, and fantastic stargazing at
night. And when the weather turns unpredictably drizzly or wet, the
Perry Mesa buttons up tightly with an easy-to-install rainfly for
full waterproof performance--even in heavy rain anddriving wind
gusts up to 50 miles per hour. A bathtub style floor design keeps
running ground water out off the tent as well.
The entire tent body and floor seams of the Perry Mesa are factory
tape-sealed, eliminating the need for an awkward full-coverage
rainfly. By sealing all of the tents floor, body, and rainfly
seams, only a partial coverage rainfly is needed, which is also
integral to Paha Qué Weather Control System (WCS). Partial coverage
rainflies and mesh roofs provide great ventilation in any weather
while virtually eliminating interior condensation, even on the most
humid nights. Paha Qué's rainflies (which have built-in awnings)
also allow the use of doors and windows even during foul
weather.
The Perry Mesa also comes complete with a full set of adjustable
and reflective guylines and two complete sets of ground stakes to
accommodate any ground conditions you may encounter. An oversized
carry sack makes folding and storing the tent a breeze. An
emergency tent repair kit is also included with this tent. Poles
are packed separately in their own stuff sack to prevent damage to
the tent body when stored. The entire Perry Mesa tent is supported
by a heavy-duty 6000 series aluminum pole set. All sets are
shock-corded for ease of set-up and storage and are also covered by
Paha Qué's lifetime warranty. A pair of awning poles is also
included.
Manufacturer's Warranty Lifetime Warranty
About Paha Qué Paha Qué Wilderness Inc. is a young and innovative
company that makes high-quality family camping tents. Campers love
them, but when they first see the name in print, they pause and
wonder just how to pronounce it and try to understand its meaning.
You won't find it in any dictionary and there have been debates
amongst linguists about its derivation. According to the legend
behind the term, Paha Qué is the Southwest Indian version of
"Aloha." Paha Qué takes it to mean "happy trails." It can mean
hello, good-bye, how are you, have a good day, and more. Perhaps a
variation on the Spanish phrase Qué Pasa? The people at Paha Qué
learned it from a local rancher friend whose grandpa learned it
from local Indians. It boils down to the fact that the name is
surely different, and appropriately so because these tents are very
different from ordinary tents.

(More customer reviews)This product setup
very easy. it is a bit on the heavy side so 2 people are needed.
The tent and poles are very sturdy. The sides are a bit light
weight and the connectors started to tear away after a few hours on
a moderatley windy day. This would be an excellent product if the
side material was the same weight as the tent material.
Overall, nice product for the price.

(More customer reviews)I am near the end
of my 3rd season using this tent for camping, from the last of
September to the beginning of February, each season. This tent may
not be the best looking - outside, but inside it is very roomy. I
think it has more usable space than the Trek Model 249 Greenbriar
10x20 that I replaced with this tent. The difference being the
higher walls. It has 70 square feet less than the 10x20, but all of
the space is easily accessed.
Let me tell you about strength. I have experienced 55mph sustained
winds in this tent. At first I was concerned, because 45mph winds
tore up my Greenbrier 10x20, on 3 occasions - with me in it. It was
no picknick - I tell you. One incident pulled 20 stakes out of the
ground and flipped the tent from end to end, along with everything
inside --- including me. Now that was a ride to remember. But that
has not come close to happening with this 10x14 tent. It has much
stronger poles and strong cotton canvas. It takes a lickin and
keeps on tickin - so to speak.
As for setup, one person can easily do it. You lay it out on the
ground (use a tarp under it). Stake it down. Put the poles in their
proper place. Raise the center pole on one side, then raise the one
on the other side. Then raise each end, one side at a time. It will
not fall over and it will not tear like cheap nylon tents. Order
the tent with a Fly cover. The Fly keeps the sun and rain and snow
off the roof. That extends the life of the canvas. The fly is a
little noisy when it is windy, but it does its job. If you can't
sleep, take the fly off.
I only have one complaint with this tent. It is built like an
A-frame. Heavy rain and snow can build up on the roof - and cause
an end of the tent to colaps. I fixed that problem. I added two
inside poles that push up the roof so that snow and rain will slide
off. There is so much room inside, the poles are not a bother. I
put hooks on them, and use them to hang things on. The poles are
not normally needed, but when real bad weather hits, they shoare up
tent - making it very sturdy. The poles are expandable in length.
That lets me adjust them as needed.
This tent is a cabin to me. I have a twin size air-bed on each end
of the tent. I have a cloths rack, a cooking table, 2 end tables, 2
kitchen chairs, a propane tank and heater. I have a big rug in the
center that makes it cozy. There is plenty of room to walk around
without bumping your head on the 8 foot ceiling. Yep, 8 foot. 6
people can sit and talk with plenty of room.
As for leaking, this tent has a rubberized floor. It is nothing but
quality. The seams do not leak - anywhere. The floor stays dry as
long as I wipe my feet when I come inside. It is treated for
dry-rot, mold, waterproof, and fire resistant.
As for warmth, the canvas holds a lot more heat than Nylon, but it
is still a tent. A two burner Coleman stove will warm the tent to
65 degrees in about 3 to 5 minutes. That is 65 degrees at table top
height. Stand up and get warmer.
There are large, zippered, 6 foot windows on the sides and on the
back wall. They have no-see-um screen on the outside; so does the
A-frame door in the front.
The tent poles are adjustable, so that makes it easy to set up on
uneven ground.
The zippers are all self-repairing. That means you can back them up
and fix the problem - if their is a problem.
If you want a tent that will hold up to the rain, hold up to the
snow, and hold up to the wind, this big 10x14 may be just what you
are looking for. It is what I was looking for --- and more.
