(More customer reviews)I got this headset to go with a Motorola Karma. The reception is loud and clear. I love the fact that the blue light is teeny and discreet, and the whole headset is compact, about 2" long. I'm surprised that the ear hook is as comfortable as it is. It's hard but flexible. I expected it to chafe, but it's fine, though I don't keep the headset on for more than a few hours at a time. My shipment came with only the round earbud, which fortunately fits me fine.
It seems to work for a long time on one charge, but I've only had it for a week--about 15 hours of use, enough time for one recharge, and the charge is still over 80%. I tend to keep it turned off when not in use, which may affect how long the charge lasts.
There's some minor interference when a microwave oven is running, but it affects only me, not the other person.
This headset gets my stamp of approval and recommendation.
EDIT: It's been about three months and I still recommend this headset. One problem that started happening a while ago (maybe a couple months?) is that the rubber earbud slips off easily. I glued it in place, but it didn't hold for very long. Another type of adhesive would probably work better, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

(More customer reviews)I needed a pad to write notes on, but past experiences taught me the pain of having to write on a notepad and then re-writing my notes to computer in order to transmit those notes to others or to keep a record of meeting minutes. Along comes the Adesso Cyberpad, which was being cross-linked across a number of gadget blogs.
The Cyberpad acts as a digital tablet, but uses regular paper (that's right: any kind of 8.5" x 11" paper will work fine). How does it work? You simply turn on the Cyberpad, and use the included pen to write across the paper. Everything you write will be recorded into memory. You can even use the SD slot for an SD card to store your notes instead of using internal memory.
The Cyberpad package includes a wealth of items:
- (1) Adesso Cyberpad
- (5) "AAA" batteries
- (1) NEXcell Battery Charger (for the "AAA" batteries)
- (1) 8.5" x 11" writing pad

It takes four (4) "AAA" batteries to power the Cyberpad and one (1) "AAA" battery to power the digital pen.
In day-to-day usage, I took the Cyberpad out to different meetings, and it performed well. The battery life is very good and I managed to get several hours worth of use out of the Cyberpad. When transferring notes back to the computer, I used Evernote to pull the files in and view what I had written. I haven't tried any OCR software yet but that's my next goal.
The Cyberpad itself has a number of functions available, such as creating new pages (files) in memory to store a new page of notes, and the ability to move through folders. All of this can be done through the Cyberpad itself, and output is displayed via an embedded LCD.
I did have issues in trying to use the tablet to interface to both my PC and notebook (separately, neither recognized the Cyberpad), but this appears to be a driver issue. I currently use an SD card to store my notes to transfer back to PC, which is better for me since I don't like carrying a USB cable around (and my HP notebook has an SD card reader built-in). This also means I can't use the "digital tablet" function, but I prefer to draw on paper anyway.
The resolution of the notes are great though: high-resolution captures of my writing notes or drawings are clear and easy to see. There is some jaggedness among lines, but I don't expect 300dpi resolution out of my writing notes in any case.
One other thing to note is that the writing pen is fairly thick (especially as it contains the "AAA" battery in it), so those with small hands may not like having to use the writing pen. I wish they had used a smaller pen, and I wouldn't have minded buying watch batteries or such, just so a smaller pen could be used. Maybe Adesso will offer a smaller pen in the future (hopefully).
Overall I'm happy with the Cyberpad, and I'd still recommend it to anyone who wants an alternative to higher priced alternatives like the Logitech tablet solution, or having to buy a tablet PC outright. There is room for improvement, but the Adesso Cyberpad is pretty good for the price.

ADT tried to screw me for $1900 for a third rate system ! Never will I ever recommend ADT again ! Worst ever and it was a factory rep ! Bay Alarm was not bad for the price but customer service was sub par.
What I learned is that there are 2 basic systems Honeywell (lynx) is pretty good but VERY hard to program OR GE Simon XT which is VERY user friendly and easy to program. You can search youtube for videos and ebay for the deals but then it boils down to Monitoring.
Both Systems you can use the land-line to call to check on the system statue but if the burglar cuts the phone line or power goes out your screwed. Go with Cellular they can't cut the phone line !
Monitoring ... you can go without paying (i.e. buy a prepaid card and self monitor)but then what's the point, you are not as fast as the monitoring center and that extra layer of protection is why I went with FrontPointSecurity.
Their monitoring is interactive. I can check on my cell or internet oh how my house is doing @ ANYTIME ! Other companies charge you an arm and leg for this feature. They even have video monitoring with the GE units.
Bottom line, GE Simon XT is a great system to install, Battery backup can be Mod. to add more batteries (daisy chained for longer backup power) Can use both Landline and Cellular for interaction and ALL wireless ! Peace of Mind !

(More customer reviews)The Asus external DVD burner just arrived today. It was very nice looking and lightweight. Goes well with my black Asus EEE PC 900HA. Simple plug and play installation. However, I did not install the Cyberlink Power2go 6 software that was included in the package. The Y cable is about 20-21 inches long which is good enough for me since it is neither too short or too long. Underneath the dvd burner, there is rubbery panel that is removable and it is where you hook up the stand.

Anyway, I wanted to test how fast the drive can burn. So I plugged it into my old Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop and I used Nero 7 Ultra Edition software to burn 4.16 gigs of stuff in under 21 minutes (with verify disc option turned on). It is really fast and consistent (speed top out at 7.8X on a number of occasions). My Phillips burner in my Dell never came close to that speed (at most 6X). The noise isn't that noticeable either (or made just as much noise as the Phillips burner).

Overall, I'm quite pleased and surprised by the performance and looks of the Asus external DVD burner.
Additional notes: I used 2 USB ports (one on the laptop and one on Antec notebook cooler which was also connected to laptop) during the burning process and it didn't seem to have affected the performance.
Also, I ran some discs using only 1 USB port and they played fine.
Like the EEE PC, the drive can be a dust and finger-print magnet.

Several weeks ago, I upgraded to a new 160GB iPod Classic. At the same time, I bought an XtremeMac Luna clock radio, which had good reviews. Unfortunately, I found that the Luna is incompatible with the new iPods - it cannot wake them from deep sleep to play the alarm in the morning. A call to XtremeMac got nothing more than a note that my issue had been forwarded to their technical team.
Without any reviews, I took a chance, and ordered the Sony ICF-C1iP iPod clock radio, and am I glad I did! The Sony is fully compatible with my iPod Classic, and Sony includes instructions for using the iPhone as well. And, the sound quality and radio performance is remarkably better than the Luna or other iPod clock radios I've tested.
Sony has done a great job with the ICF-C1iP. It is an upright design, with most of the unit behind the iPod, in a slanted design with controls at the top. The iPod dock accepts universal adapters, but they aren't really needed as Sony has an adjustable supporting plate behind the iPod.
Unlike the Luna, which attempts to duplicate the iPod menus on its display, the Sony ICF-C1iP includes a remote control that lets you completely control the iPod menus as if you were manipulating the scroll wheel. Quite impressive.
Sound quality is very good for a clock radio - with full bass and even midtones. Sony includes a simulated mode they call "Mega XPand" that in my experience made the music sound muddied and under-sampled. Your mileage my vary.
The blue-backlit clock is located in the iPod dock area, and 3 brightness levels are available. In my experience, even the lowest setting is a bit too bright, but not enough to disturb me at night. I wish that the display were slightly larger, although the high contrast lets me see the time without my glasses from a reasonable distance.
And, unlike most iPod clock radios, the radio reception is outstanding - with an external AM antenna provided. The unit has dual alarms, which can be set to iPod (you can even select a wakeup volume), Radio, or Buzzer.
On the downside, the battery backup for the buzzer alarm and clock is a small expensive lithium battery. And, if your relying on just the buzzer to wake you up it's not very loud. You also have to be careful when changing the alarms to make sure that you don't accidentally turn the alarm off. But all of these are minor issues. However, these are all very minor issues that don't detract from the unit overall.
All in all, in my experience, this is the best iPod clock radio you can buy.

The picture and sound quality are good. The price is right. I recommend this camera for the convenience and price. Unless of course the best picture and sound available is what you want, then more expensive cameras are available worthy of a five star review. For most purposes, this camera can't be beat for its convenience and therefore the greater chance of actually having it on hand when needed.

(More customer reviews)I have been looking at this item for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger. My concerns with the speed of the processor on the Core 2 rather than i5 and i7 and the high price were my only reason not to buy. After reading about the battery hit taken on this with the faster processors and the price dropping about $100 so that the price difference with the i7 become quite large, I decided to go with the Core 2 and I am glad I did.
First off, the screen is glossy and only of average brightness but the viewing angles and the ability to turn the contrast all the way up and still see a good picture a plus. Second, there is no bluetooth but there are so many tiny dongles these days it isn't a huge issue for your mouse or headphones - just use of one the three usb ports. Third, the reason to buy this is for gaming and I am happy to say I was able to load all my games on the spacious 320gb hard drive with room to spare and they are all playable anywhere from medium to ultra settings. I play almost exclusively real-time strategy titles such as StarCraft II and the Command and Conquer titles. They all run really good.
The build quality is phenomenal on this thing. It is fun to just look at and admire. Being able to change the lighting in five zones and in various ways makes night computing perfect. The small keyboard is a little tougher to type on than a chic-lit style on a netbook but the razor sharp backlighting makes it work out fine after a little practice. Touch typing works great. The wrist area does not show fingerprints, the mouse has a great texture and really soft press buttons but I use an external mouse.
My first unit did not work the second day. It went black screen on me and Amazon shipped me a replacement the very next day that has been perfect. I also went into the bios on the second one and enabled turbo mode and it works - no blue screens.
I spent all day loading up my gaming titles and look forward to playing on the go and around the house a lot more now. I was also pleased that 1080p YouTube worked flawlessly and my programs seem snappy. So far, so good, enjoying it. The kids love it too and like to change the keyboard to pink for the girls and incredible hulk green for the boys.
A fun toy, I hope to enjoy for a long time, and recommend.

So I bought this device with the intention that if I visit a restaurant or other establishment where there is a TV that is blasting or just really annoying while I'm eating, I can turn it off,lower the volume or change the channel to something more suitable. After using it I found a few things that if I had known beforehand I probably wouldn't have made the purchase. The fist thing I noticed is that the instructions say that you press the "Mute' button for about 5 secs then release as this puts the device into the scan mode. When the "mute" icon displays on the TV you press the button again, and now you have complete control of the set. This is incorrect and only after reading one of the other reviews did I realize that you must hold the button down UNTIL the "Mute" icon displays on the screen, then release. After learning this, the device now works as advertised. (You do have to release at just the right moment or you'll have to start the scan over) Now I have total control of the TV right? Wrong. What I forgot is that most TV's are on a cable/Satellite system and this device won't control those boxes. (As far as I know at this time) So all you can really do is change the volume or turn it off. If the TV is a stand alone unit then you can change channels,volume, mute or turn it off. I still enjoy this little thing since I'm a gadget nut.

More controls than other similar devices that only turn off the TV.
Cheap Price.
Cons: Poor construction (probably wont last very long)
Won't control the Cable box/Sat receiver.
Have to hold down the "Mute " button until it finds the right code. (this could be awhile if the code is close to the end of the list)

We have used other wireless mice with the longer USB receivers that tend to get lost or damaged because they stick out of the computer. This mouse has a nano USB connector that is so small it can be left plugged in the laptop and forgotten.
Installation was literally plug and play after the two AAA batteries and the nano receiver were installed. The mouse was recognized by the Win 7 OS with no problems and was operating within a minute or so.
The mouse has very good ergonomics, despite being very small, and it feels great in the hand. I also like that it has an "OnOff" switch on the bottom that lets you make sure it is off when not in use.
A great little mouse! Highly Recommended!

(More customer reviews)Note that if you're running a newer Mac (I have a MacBook Pro) you have to download the latest driver from Yamaha. And another gotcha is that you have to completely uninstall the driver they give you in the box before the new one will work. It's annoying as all get out, but the instructions for how to do the uninstall are on the CD so it's not -too- bad.
Anyway, once the right driver was installed this cable worked perfectly. I can record myself in GarageBand now while playing my DD-55 drum kit.

(More customer reviews)I usually don't write reviews but I had to for this purchase as there aren't many reviews for this really great phone. I've spent a great deal of time researching 2-line phones and all the various features for my small business. I even tried a few of the big brand name phones before I ended up with this one. I tried the Panasonic DECT 6.0 2-line comparable phone, which has no caller ID when you're on one line and another call comes in. Then I tried the Uniden DECT 6.0 2-line comparable phone, which has awful sound quality and a piercing echo sound when you speak into the phone. I was apprehensive about this RCA phone since there weren't any reviews but tried it anyway because of all the features. I'm so glad I did -- it's the best phone I've tried and/or read about so far.
Pros:
Set up was easy
DND/privacy (rare to find this on a 2-line phone)
Caller ID - easy to access and see (with the panasonic you had to hit 3 buttons to access)
Call waiting
2 line voice mail
wireless headset that's so comfortable! -- BIG BONUS! easy setup & use, comfortable
Great sound quality and range
Looks great - sleek and solid, not cheap feeling/looking
Base and cordless phone both have speakerphone
Mute
Hold (rare to find this on a 2-line phone)
Transfer/intercom calls
Cons:
The maximum volume on the wireless/bluetooth headset could be a little louder though this is just a personal preference -- it's actually loud enough but I have construction going on in my building so it would be great if it was a bit louder.
Another small nuance is that you have to use the base phone to dial out when using the headset (wished you could use the cordless phone to dial). Minor inconvenience.
The only comparable multi-line phone that has all the rich features of a true office phone would cost thousands of dollars and I wasn't willing to spend that much for a small office. This is a great phone and the price is simply a bonus.
