Panasonic SC-HT930 5-Disc DVD Home Theater System Review

PanasonicSC-HT9305-DiscDVDHomeTheaterSystem
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just recently purchased this item. The sound is great, extremely loud and clear for both DVDs and CDs. It is not the most user friendly piece of equipment ever, it was easy to set up and get working with DVDs, but some other things that you'd think would be simple, like putting CDs on random was suprisingly difficult. The instructions are all but useless.
The other thing that is obviously my fault for not realizing it, is it doesn't include digital inputs so you can't listen to cable shows that are broadcast in surround or video games that support surround in true surround. I didn't understand that requirement when I bought it and was disappointed when I figured it out. Seems like a system that nice should have the ability to generate surround sound from an outside source.
Also got the wireless rear speaker kit and it has worked really well so far. It will occasionally fight with my wireless laptop if I sit between the unit and back speakers, but it switches channels by itself and works perfectly after a few seconds.

Garmin nüvi 660 4.3-Inch Bluetooth Portable GPS Navigator (Bilingual) Review

Garminnüvi6604.3-InchBluetoothPortableGPSNavigator(Bilingual)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had originally gotten a TomTom Go 720, which I thought to be a great piece of equipment. The only problem being, that it's Bluetooth function wouldn't work with my CDMA Sprint phone. So, I returned it for the Garmin nuvi 660. The FM transmitter is decent. The Bluetooth function is exceptional. The mic/speaker works great, and the mapping software is pretty decent
Also, I was able to get quick satellite fixes from within my house (10-15' from the windows)
Pros:
*Car mount allows for one step installation. Power is delivered through the mount, therefore no need to detach from mount and unplug several cables, everytime you get in and out of the car.
*Turns on/off with car power.
*Bright screen for good sunlight read-ability.
*GPS function can be turned on/off to save battery usage.
*Bluetooth/speaker phone is crystal clear.
Cons:
*Menus not very intuitive. (TomTom interface wins here)
*Processing speed should have been a little faster. Mapping feature a little jerky.
*Clunky antenna must be flipped out for GPS usage. Not ideal for shoving in a pocket.
*Text-to-Voice feature needs improvement. Hard to understand. I end up just looking at the screen to read to directions.
Hardware winner: Garmin nuvi 660 - Pops in and out of car easily.
Software winner: TomTom Go 720 - Intuitive menus run seamlessly. (If my phone would have worked with the TomTom, I would have kept it.)

Crazyondigital Premium Essitial Bundle for iPod Nano (5th Generation) Review

So the cords, cases, speakers & whatever in this bundle are fine, not super great quality obviously. The thing that sucks is I cant get the fm transmitter to work. Ive tried every possible cord configuration, the thing turns on and blanks out the selected radio station, but no music will ever go through from my ipod. also, after the AAA batteries in the thing went dead (i mustve not turned it off the last time i tried messing with it), it wont turn on, i hoped that maybe it would be able to get power from the lighter plug in thing, but apparently thats not the case. some directions would have been helpful. so now i have to go buy a different radio transmitter which basically made buying this whole package a waste of money.

Pioneer CD-INCAR1 Car Kit for Pioneer Inno Satellite Radio Review

I easily installed the Car kit in little time. Having a stereo though with no Auxiliary input I am relying on the FM transmitter. Living in a large but not to large metropolitan area I have trouble finding an open frequency thus giving interferance quite often. Even when having good reception I find that the trasmitter is quiter than a normal radio station (although you can set the transmition volume). Overall the kit is good.

Garmin Nüvi® 755T 4.3" Touch Screen Portable Navigation System Review

GarminNanduuml;viandreg;755T4.3TouchScreenPortableNavigationSystem
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, as for another review: CERTAIN models of this specific GPS were recalled. All who purchased were made aware of the battery recall and given a website and phone number to contact. You entered the code on the back of your device to find out if it was one of the devices effected. Ours was not.
Onto the actual review!
I bought this as our very first GPS back in April 2010. To this day my husband and I look at each other with contentment and pat ourselves on the back for this purchase. The screen is bright and easy to use. My husband loves playing music on it through our in car radio! He has hundreds of MP3s on the device which he can sort through by genre, alphabetical order, musician, etc. or just choose to play at random. (Considering our in car CD player just died, this is especially nice). It's nice that you can choose for all sound to be played through your car stereo, or to be played through the GPS speakers.
The look-up is fast! We'll often be driving around and think, hey let's stop somewhere to eat. We touch the screen for points of interest, dining, and then can select what type of eating we're craving from there (or just search all). The list is populated quickly and only begins to lag when finding locations over 30 miles away. From the locations list, it shows you the name of the location, the address, and even a phone number so you can grab your cell phone and make a call ahead reservation on the fly.
From the "Where To?" screen, what I especially love, is a recent searches folder. We often forget to write down addresses and the recent searches holds them for quite a while.
On days when you have lots of errands, you can set the GPS to plot a course through all of your stops. At any time you can remove one of the stops or even add another.
When steering off course, this GPS will sometimes recalculate your path speedily but, about 30% of the time, hiccups for a moment before redirecting you. Most, if not all, GPS systems seem to have this problem with a less than instant re-routing function.
The battery life is decent and set-up is a breeze. The stand it includes to attach to your windshield is secure and has never fallen down on us, despite my sometimes trying to tug the GPS out and failing. You have to press in a button on the bottom and pull the GPS out toward you to remove it from the stand. My husband is a one handed master at this but I fumble a bit.
As for long road trips with this Garmin, we've gone on plenty of those. One of my favorite features is that when you need to get into (or avoid) a specific lane on the highway to take an exit, a zoomed in picture of the road will appear (the one you see in the screen shot for this product on Amazon) reminding you exactly where you need to be.
In all this time, we have only lost complete signal twice during a road trip and both times the signal was reacquired shortly.
I love my GPS and I am never tempted to upgrade (or downgrade) from the model I chose. The size is perfect, the features are just what we need, and it's fast and easy to use. When I bought this from Amazon it was on a great sale.
So, after this glowing review, why the four stars out of five? Well, certain features, like the free traffic feature, don't work exactly as advertised. In fact, I have never seen the traffic updates feature in motion before and am still hunting for it.

Garmin continues to build up its nüvi 7xx series portableGPS navigators with its nüvi 755T, which adds a number of handy routing and communication features to an already impressive list of specs, including a 4.3-inch widescreen display, text-to-speech capabilities, media player, and FM transmitter for transmitting audio--including directions and MP3 music and audiobooks--from the device to your car radio.New to the nüvi 7x5 lineup is Garmin's HotFix satellite prediction (which locates your position quickly and precisely), Lane Assist (which provides lane guidance and junction views when possible), automatic time zone transitioning, and 3D Building views as well as Garmin Connect Photos to help you visually ascertain your position. Additionally, the nüvi 755T includes free real-time traffic updates from Navteq (for the life of the device) via the included GTM 20 traffic receiver. The bright, 4.3-inch touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views. The widescreen format gives you 70 percent more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push.

Pioneer Airware MyFi XM Portable Satellite Radio Review

PioneerAirwareMyFiXMPortableSatelliteRadio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't normally submit "product opinions" (I know, shame on me) but this portable XM radio from Pioneer is so good that I felt that I had to. I had been considering getting some kind of a satellite radio for my car for more than 6 months and when I found out that a friend of mine had a Delphi XM unit in his car I knew that the time had come to finally make a move :-)
I was thinking of getting a Delphi MyFi but then discovered that the Pioneer AirWare had recently hit the store shelves. I like the Pioneer brand and also liked the looks (and controls) of the Pioneer unit more than those of the MyFi .. so I picked up an AirWare at the local Circuit City (can get it cheaper elsewhere for sure). I have had it for 3 weeks now and during this time have used it EXTENSIVELY in the car, in my home office and also on business trips. It works great !
I am especially impressed by the effectiveness of the built-in FM transmitter ... I have used a few built-in and external FM transmitters in my time over the past few years but haven't had much luck with them (too much interference from other radio stations). I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved) to discover that the AirWare's transmitter is VERY effective ... I have been driving around the Connecticut/ Westchester County/NYC/Long Island region quite a bit since I got it, without having to switch FM frequencies at all !
The features and sound quality of the unit are great. It is very useful that you can record up to 5 hours of audio (via a "scheduled record" function) that you can then listen to offline when the satellite reception is not up to snuff. Another neat feature is that if you hear a song or artist that you like, you can press a button and from then on whenever that same song or artist is playing on any of the 150+ channels the unit beeps and displays a message so that, if you want, you can press the same button and the unit automatically switches to the relevant channel.
The AirWare comes with everything that you neeed to set it up at home or in a car. When using the AirWare in my car I use the "vent mount" to secure it (in its cradle) to an air vent. I have the antenna magnetically-mounted outside on the front part of the car roof. On some of the more tree-lined roads of Connecticut, satellite reception can sometimes be spotty ... you need to have line-of-sight to the XM satellites which are positioned in the southern sky .. but generally reception is very good. All-in-all I am very happy that I got it ... it is a very, very well designed and executed product ... plus the breadth and quality of the XM programming is great.
In summary I can heartily recommend both the Pioneer AirWare and the XM service !

Kenwood Here2Anywhere Sirius Radio Review

KenwoodHere2AnywhereSiriusRadio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received the Here2Anywhere as a Christmas gift, along with a car kit and home kit, and in just a few short days, I can report that I'm a diehard Sirius fan, as much for Sirius itself as this particular receiver.
First, the service. I'm sure some would disagree, but arguably, Sirius is the better choice among the two providers of satellite radio for the US. While XM has some commercial free music channels, ALL of Sirius' music streams are commercial free. That, coupled with excellent variety, well-programmed music, and the superior reception afforded Sirius' high-angle orbit satellites make it the logical choice. The $3 extra each month (vs. XM) is well worth it.
Next, this receiver. Fundamentally, a plug-and-play receiver like this is not going to suit everyone. It's far less "clean" for car use than an in-dash unit, so if you have a thing about cords hanging around, you should go in-dash. But if you carefully choose your location, and your car has the right space available, it can make for a very tolerable installation with the advantage of being able to take the receiver with you anywhere (when paired with the required, optional docking kits).
One thing I especially like about this unit is its largely "flat" design. Most plug and play units (for Sirius and XM) are vertically oriented and don't seem to fit as well in some locations.
Paired with a home kit, this receiver is almost ideal. It's very small and compact, so it'll fit about anywhere, with about any stereo set-up. It's simple to use, and has an IR remote, so even if you permanently set it next to your home gear, it'd be right at home. To my surprise, the unit works fine at home even with its small antenna sitting atop a row of cabinets in my basement office.
There are some shortcomings, however, most probably due to the small size of the unit. First, direct access to streams by number is possible only via the remote control; although once you set-up your presets (of which there are 24) you may not need direct access. Second, while it has a push-button "remember this song and artist" feature, you can't clear out your choices when you're done with them. Also, you can't control the backlight brightness at all. Just generally, it seems Kenwood kept this unit only to the fundamentals, and omitted a variety of refinements that the unit could have benefited from.
But perhaps the biggest shortcoming is that it provides only line level outputs, requiring a separate amp or receiver of some sort to hook it to (and then, only via one of the docks -- the unit does NOTHING on its own without a docking kit). The unit would be somewhat more useful to me if it could also be used as a portable, even if some sort of dock was required to do it... Hook-up an antenna and a set of headphones, and listen with no other pieces or parts. (Or, perhaps Kenwood could develop some sort of boombox style dock for this baby.)
But even with that, the ability to cart my Sirius from home to car to office to car to home again is great -- especially when you're as addicted to the service as I am -- and this unit does that quite nicely.

Satellite radio listening just got more convenient and more affordable. Kenwood's portable KTC-H2A1 Here2Anywhere Sirius digital satellite radio tuner lets you enjoy Sirius's 100 different streams of music, sports, news, and entertainment programming almost anywhere: in the car, at home, at work, or even on a boat. Slide it out of your home system, into your pocket, and then into your car system, taking access to your favorite streams everywhere you go. Home and car docking kits--the Kenwood KPA-H2C and KPA-H2H, respectively--each include a slide-in mount for the tuner. The kits are sold separately and at least one kit and a subscription to Sirius radio are required for use of the KTC-H2A1.The KTC-H2A1 is loaded with features like multiple search and display modes, 24 stream (station) presets that make finding your favorite stream a snap, and a 4-line dot-matrix LCD that scrolls complete song title and artist information. It even has a stream lock that lets you skip channels you don't want to hear--or don't want your kids to hear. The display is designed to be clearly readable in both home and car, with a choice of normal or large-font characters. Search for music by category or channel type as well as by artist name or song title using the built-in guide.Incredible handy is the ability to save the title and artist of a currently playing song (up to 24 songs) for later recall, freeing you of the risks of trying to commit your favorites to memory or trying to write while you drive. Channel scan lets you check out what's currently playing on another channel while you're still listening to the current stream, and a full-function remote control is also included.Sirius broadcasts 60 streams of 100-percent commercial-free music, as well as an additional 40 streams for sports, news, and entertainment, all in clear, digital sound. There is no limit to the number of systems in which one tuner can be used. What's in the Box Radio receiver, remote control, remote battery, a user's manual, and warranty/registration information.Note: A subscription to Sirius satellite radio is required to activate the Kenwood Here2Anywhere portable tuner.

Pioneer CD-INCAR2 Car Kit for Pioneer GEX-INNO2BK Inno 2 Portable XM Radio Review

PioneerCD-INCAR2CarKitforPioneerGEX-INNO2BKInno2PortableXMRadio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The main reason for this kit (instead of the INNO1 version) is because the FCC forced Pioneer to reduce the FM transmitter strength. This means that to get the signal to your car's antenna you have to use an extra cable that runs from the in-dash mount, OUTSIDE YOUR CAR, and is clipped directly to your car's built-in antenna.
There are problems with this approach:
1. The first time you go through an automatic car wash the clip-on cable will be stripped right off.
2. The clip-on portion only works with extremely thin "whip" style antennas. My wife's car has a short, thick "aero" style antenna (in the center of the very rear of the roof) that is totally incompatible with this kit. They don't tell you that before you buy it.
3. Who wants a cable strung through your car for passengers to trip over? Who is going to rip out dashboards and upholstery in a new car to run this underneath? Maybe a professional installer, but this kit was aimed at the home user, supposedly.
In my case I finally tried running the "sure connect" cable under the floor mats, into the back cargo area, and then ran it in a large loop around the inner edge of the rubber seal around the hatch back, leaving the clip-on tip dangling where it wasn't obvious. The only reason this kit gets two stars instead of one is that worked: the signal is strong enough to reach the external antenna without any wires going outside the car.
If you're going to use your INNO2 in a car, be warned, and you probably should save the $70 and give it to a professional installer who'll jack it into the back of your existing radio's FM input--except I bet you have to buy the kit anyway, to get the FM transmitter enabled through the cradle, don't you?

This splitter works as advertised. It has a red LED light that turns on when you plug it in. Great for older cars that don't have multiple outlets in a vehicle. It charges my Tomtom GPS just fine. The cord length is about 1 foot long(including the split portion). I couldn't ask for more for this price. It uses and internal amp that splits the 12v power. The splitter feels pretty solid and well made. I recommend this for anyone looking for a good splitter.

Clarion OHM1075VD#R 10.4-Inch Overhead Monitor with DVD Player (Refurbished) Review

ClarionOHM1075VD#R10.4-InchOverheadMonitorwithDVDPlayer(Refurbished)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently bought a used minivan. The DVD player wasn't working- replacements are upwards of $800 at the dealership!?!?! Looked around and even cheaper DVD players are more than double what I paid for this (refurbished) unit.
I searched around and found this GEM, and after using it a couple times, am Very Impressed.
-Picture quality is great!
-Headphones seem comfortable, and work anywhere you can see the screen.
-Installation was fairly simple, using a metal plate and pre-run power cables already in my van from the previous install. The screws that came with the unit are perfect- they are self-drilling through metal. (DON'T just screw it into the roof though!!!) The wiring is plenty long and high-quality, with shrink-wrap even! (Just use a HOT hair dryer once everything is installed.)
-Plenty of video options. There are 2 A/V in and 1 A/V out- including a cable long enough to run down into even the biggest van/SUV for a game system, vcr, satellite TV, whatever. You could use ANOTHER A/V cable and have two different sources!
-It plays MPEG, WMV, and SOME AVI movies on burnt CDs and DVDs.!!!!!
-Packaging was very very professional, the unit looked brand new.
Possible CONS-
-No instruction manual in the box. It was very hard to find on the Clarion website, search never found the model number. Look under 2007 products- [...]
-No RF modulator, needed for playing the audio on the Car's stereo system. -But it comes with 2 pair of headphones. -But do kids want to wear rather large headphones for a Long time?
-No regular headphone jack for other headphones. (You can buy more IR headphones on ebay, amazon, etc...)
-No A/V jack. It's all wiring on the "top" (as mounted) of the unit. So you either have cables hanging or have to install them to somewhere.
-90 day warranty.
I rate the unit 5/5 based on the price and features.

It does not work on my Creative Zen W 30 GB. Maybe I got a defective one, although the charger's light turn on when I plug it in, but it just does not charge my device.

Sirius ST2 Starmate Replay Satellite Radio with Car Kit Review

I got my Starmate Replay about a month ago. Since then, I only listen to "normal" radio when Howard Stern is on in the mornings. After that, it's Sirius all day long. Come January, I'll be saying goodbye to terrestrial radio.
The good:
The size of the unit makes it a breeze to install. I originally mounted it on my dash in front of my steering wheel where I could see it and access it easily. I used velcro for that install, but it didn't work out as nicely as I wanted. I solved that problem with a vehicle specific dash mount from Crutchfield. Best $35 I spent. The unit is now mounted just to the right of the factory radio and is out of the way, yet still very accessible. The remote is a good size without being too small. The buttons are well placed and it works good without having to point it directly at the unit. That said, I rarely use it. The unit is well within easy reach without taking my eyes off the road.
Bad:
I dont really have anything "bad" to say. The unit does get warm, but that seems to be an industry wide side effect. I keep the brightness and contrast at a minimum and that seems to keep the unit a tad cooler. I do not have a fear that the unit will overheat. It just doesn't get that hot.
Overall I'm very satisfied with this unit. So much so that I just bought another one as a gift.
