Daylight Saving Time or Daylight Savings Time?

As spring is coming, we are all longing for "longer days". Now it's time to spring forward!

This Sunday, at 02:00 am we can make the time change. Set your clocks ahead an hour and in the evening you can see the sun go down an hour later.

Of course, we are not saving time now. We are "losing" an hour. But we will get it back in November. This year Daylight Saving Time ends on November 1st, 2009. At that day, you can spring back in time... A nice way to make yourself younger :-)

Did you know that most people make a mistake in the spelling? They add an extra -s after "saving" and they spell it as Daylight Savings Time. Well, that's wrong. It should really be Daylight Saving Time.

This change of time seems to have some impact on our feelings of well-being. Sleeping rhythmes get disturbed. But riving becomes saver, because there are less accidents in daylight than in the dark. Here we gain some, there we loose some. This is an interesting time for researches.

So don't forget to change the time. Unless you live in Arizona or Hawaii. These states do not observe DST, just like the U.S. territories American Samoa, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

When you live outside the USA - well, don't call your friends in the USA too late. They might be fest asleep...
