All You Need to Know About Getting Discount Tents

Choosing the Best Discount Tents For You

When it comes to choosing discount tents and finding the best ones for you, it may not be as straightforward as you want it to be.

You need to consider a few things first, especially if its your first time purchasing a tent.

You need to decide how many people will be housed inside the tent, then look at the tent that fits one or two more people, so you can fit equipment and for emergencies.

Tents are also made for different seasons and climates, so you need to think about when you are most likely to use your purchased discount tents. Some tents are designed to withstand strong winds, some keep you cool in the hot sun, some protect from heavy rain or keep you warm in the winter, some combine manufacturing processes to protect you from some or all of the natural elements.

If you’re expecting strong winds, then a tent with a strong skeleton, that is aerodynamic and has multiple tie downs would be a good choice of tent. This also would be a good choice if you’re heading out into the snow, especially if you add bright colours to the tent (for visiblity), extra room for cooking and storage, and multiple vents and exits just incase you get buried in a winter storm. You would also want waterproof floors to protect you & your gear from the melting snow.

Tents that set up quick and keep you dry would be exceptional in places where it rains frequently, but make sure it has adequate ventilation, you may be spending a bit of time inside the tent, so you’ll want to be able to breathe easy.

Bright coloured tents not only increase visiblity (which is great if you get lost) but protect you from the heat of the sun if you’re out in the open. To protect yourself from the sun with tents only use fabrics that are resistant to ultraviolet rays.

Weight is an important factor too, think …“How far am I going to have to carry this tent.”… If you’re a hiker then even a small increase in weight can impact on your trip in a large way. Having said that, the tent that houses you and keeps you protected from the natural elements thrown at you on your journey is far more important than weight itself.

These are by far the most important things to consider when you’re purchasing discount tents. Choose well and you’re holidays, expeditions and journeys will be more enjoyable from the outset.

What kind of camping tent is good for 8 people? Hot temperatures and sand at camp site, needs to be light.?

We´re planning to travel to our camping ground by airplane, so it can´t be too heavy. We´ll be 5 people so I´m looking for an 8 person tent. Any advise?

Hi there!

I have a big family and when we do our big leisurely camping trips, we always use our 8-person 2-room camping tent. The best I’ve found (and the best deal out there in my opinion) is the Columbia Cougar Flats II. It’s a 15′ x 10′ dome tent with two rooms and space for up to eight people – though in my opinion, eight people would be terribly cramped in there. I’d say six max, which sounds perfect for you.

It utilizes the GoBe Dry System to keep all the moisture out in it rains – probably won’t be much humidity in the desert, so you’re fine there. It has a full seam-taped polyester fly with a waterproof coating as well. The frame is a hybrid steel and fiberglass which I’ve found to be very durable and long-lasting (this baby’s endured the abuse of my family for many many trips now). It is spacious but has lots of storage like pocket pouches, hanging cup holders, lockers and a hanging gear loft.

Make sure you do plenty of research to find the tent that suits you best, but this would definitely be my recommendation. It’s worked great for me and my family. If you need any other camping tips or ideas, check out my new camping blog:

I would love to go tent camping. but have a lot of allergies. Are there any tents that would keep all that out

I’m specifically concerned about smoke from grills and gases from stoves. Thanks so much

You can cook on propane stoves, and have almost no fumes. When you sit around the fire, sit upwind. I love wilderness camping in N. Canada. Up there, hardly anybody has trouble with any allergies. Setting tents up 50′ upwind from fire and cooking area cuts down smoke and fumes to almost zero.

Are there any "luxury" camping tents out there?

ugh! I hate camping and every year our school makes the class go on a "bonding trip" in the "great outdoors…gag. Are there any tents out there that aren’t actually tents? haha…well, are there any luxury tents or anything that keeps me off the grass…and actually protected from the weather?

When tent camping, I think an air mattress makes all the difference in the world. Buy a nice one that has a built in pump so it will automatically inflate and deflate. Bring a cozy blanket and a pillow and you’ll be all set.
Much cheaper than a new tent.
Have fun!

What is the best brand 2-3 room camping tents for a family??

We are looking to spend $ 70-150 …….we checked out a few but lots had problems with leaking…..please help!!!
We are looking for the cabin style tents….Thank you!
Camping in Tx …..

Coleman or EB are good, for around 80 – 150. Scotch guard the tent inside and out then seal the stitching before use. We camp all the time and no problems even in major down pours
