(More customer reviews)I have had a Char Broil Electic Grill for almost two yearsnow. I recieve consistant results in summer and winter where thetempature differences have other grills difficult to use. I particully enjoy it when I use it to grill fish. Unlike gas grills the airflow inside an electric grill is almost non-existant. This translates to cooked but moist meats. This grill is easy to clean, and I don't have to remember to trun off the propane at the tank. refilled. The grill is easy to movearound the outside of my house depending on where I want to either just cook for the family, or to the backyard to entertain guests. I have used wood to add smoke flavor even though Char Broil recommends aganist it. I just place the wood chips on a small piece of metal on the heating element and everything is fine. The grill works a lot better if you clean it when it gets blackened inside, and the fact that I add wood chips does accelerate this process. It is not a difficilt task to clean the grill.
This grill is great when you are in a hurry too, electricy is fast. The best outdoor cooking product I have ever owned.

(More customer reviews)I got my 4-48 SOB direct from the Mfg. I have had pits before from Texas and none compare to this one. First off the size of the SOB will let you cook anything and anyway you prefer. Want to grill -16- rib-eyes no problem. Want to slo-cook -6- slabs of ribs laying flat..gofor it!! To get this size of pit from anyother pit mfg in the state of Texas will cost you double and big time shipping costs. The smoker box will let you slo cook all day long at 250 degrees..just add a little briquets every hour and that is it. Some prople dont understand why I like large bbq pits. It is really quite simple. I like them for their flexability. You dont have to have the whole sucker full of food. But you have safe spots. You can sear steaks and chops and then move them to a cooler area to finish up. You can throw in two full briskets or a small pig with no problem. This pit is made to last. The body is 14 gauge steel and the door is 11 gauge. You get a top notch pit thermometer as well. There is no need to have a bbq to grill with and a smoker for lo and slo. The SOB does it all. If you want to do competition Que in your backyard get a SOB!! This pit is pound for pound the best around. I should know, I have just about had them all!!

(More customer reviews)I live in an apartment and do a lot of tailgating. This is the BEST grill! I get compliments on it all of the time. No one can believe that it actually does what it claims! It has a big enough grill surface to cook for a party but it is small enough to pack up and take with you. It has become the main grill for home and travel. No one even offers to bring their portable anymore.
It heats up very quickly and nothing sticks to the surface. I have used the grill for steaks, burgers, chicken, and to saute mushrooms and onions. I have never used any sort of non-stick agent. It is wonderful!
It cleans up with just hot water in most cases! I love it so much that I am buying another one for my father for Father's Day!

(More customer reviews)This beautiful "made in the USA" grate is very sturdy and nicely fabricated. It is a great addition for a fire pit to raise your fire up, for air circulation and better burning. I was very pleased that I could find a commercially made grate; I had expected that I would not be able to find such a niche product and that I would have to have one custom made at great expense. Landmann was even smart enough to make these grates in various diameters.
The only flaw I can see in this product are just irrelevant cosmetic issues. There is some welding splash present, the welds are not ground flat/flush, and the ends of the cross pieces were cut at 90 degrees rather than at a matching angle to the circular perimeter piece. If Landmann were to do all of that, it would just needlessly increase the price, as the grate is not something that you will be hanging in your living room.

The Landmann grates will likely last you several lifetimes. It isn't cheap, but it would cost you much more to have something similar custom made at a metal shop.
Note: The Amazon prices for these grates seems to fluctuate quite a bit. If you aren't in a hurry, watch the price for a couple of weeks and you could save as much as $20.

(More customer reviews)This is a beautifully constructed grill made from heavy duty materials. I found it to be very elegant looking. Assembly was easy as all the major components are already assembled so it is just a matter of attaching the sub-assemblies. The fitted cover is heavy duty and superb.
I was disappointed with the performance, however. Despite having a smaller grill surface and lower hood than my old, cheap, Fiesta grill, which should equate to higher temperatures, the cooking times were longer on the Minden. Also the grill had very uneven temperatures. Three hamburgers, placed in a line, front to back, would all cook differently.
I live in Nevada and had wanted to support a local company. I called them and they said they'd inspect it to check whether or not it was operating properly. They did and said it was. I told them I was not happy with its performance and they arranged a full refund. So customer service is excellent.
I also did not like that there was practically no vertical lip at the back of the grill to back-stop hamburgers if you try to pick them up with a spatula (and need to slide them into something) and the control knobs do not have clock face hash marks to line up against to indicate amount of heat, rather an expanding arrow making it difficult to finely adjust the heat settings.
I would recommend getting one from a dealer with a liberal return policy but understand that it will be difficult to re-pack to return it if you have it shipped to you.

It looks great on the backyard, the stainless adds that "summer" shining look outside.
One of the great features is that you can easily add more charcoal while the grill is on, in case you need more charcoal. You don't have to remove grids or anything to add more fuel to the fire!
This worked greatly and we are enjoying the product very much!

On the third time, the regulator released gas as soon as I connected it to a gas canister. I called the Canadian rep and was told it was a safety feature in case the regulator gets too hot. I was also told it was very rare that the regulator to malfunction like that . . . just my luck, I guess. Since the rep was close to me in Toronto, I was optimistic about getting a replacement regulator . . . no such luck. I was told that the warranty parts centre for North America is now located in Florida. I called them and after not really knowing what to do, they finally agreed to ship a replacement to me. It's been 2 weeks . . . . . I'm still waiting . . . .
I'm not sure if this is indicative of the quality and support of Outdoor Chef . . . . but, I paid almost $200 for this grill and it's been sitting here collecting dust on my patio.

(More customer reviews)When I purchased the Char-Broil T480 3-Burner 40,000 BTU Gas Grill I did so for several reasons: features, reliability and price. For me the Char-Broil had more of what was important than any other grill I looked at.
Assembly:
On a difficulty rating I'd give this a 7 and I've put together everything from Bikes to Ikea Furniture. Out of the box this didn't scare me, but it did take about 45-60 minutes from start to finish.
Use & Features:
It has an electronic ignition for all of the burners. My only complaint so far is that the button is rubber and dried up very quickly from the heat. Mine detached from the grill, but still works as long as it doesn't get lost.
The warming rack although a great idea, hasn't really been useful to us. Even though it's raised up on the back portion of the grill it takes up too much space and makes getting to what is grilling beneath it very difficult.
The side burner is great for heating up sauces, baked beans, making grilled onions or even frying bacon.
Temperature gauge on outer front is useful. I'm not sure of accuracy, but it has helped me pre-heat the grill when I do things like tri-tip or beer can chicken.
The two wheels on the bottom make it easy for me to maneuver around on our deck and also for storing.
Grilling:
I used to be a firm believer of grilling only with briquettes, but when you want to do it as often as we do it's just not possible. During the summer we use the grill about 2-4 times a week and during the winter we still use it at least once a week. I have become very comfortable with this grill, knowing how long to preheat, how long to cook and what works best. The 3 separate burners allow me to heat only the grates we need. Most often it's one for just a small dinner, but we have had all three going when cooking for a large crowd.
Clean-Up:
After cooking I give the grates and initial scraping with the Mr. Bar-B-Q Wide Grill Brush and then I usually turn the burners I had been using up to HIGH for about 60 seconds. This seems to burn off any excess food and keeps it ready to go for next time. As long as you take care of this grill you should be able to get many years of service and delicious food from it!
Storing: We purchased a cover for it since we do have it out year round (and in rainy Seattle no less). This Weber 7555 Premium Cover, although not meant for our grill, has been our favorite one. The quality of the materials and weight of it have kept ours clean and covered even through some pretty bad storms. We figured it we were investing the money in a grill; we should invest in this too.

(More customer reviews)As far as the actual grilling process goes, this little baby works pretty good. It seems to grill things pretty evenly. It is compact and very easy to carry around.
My biggest complaints is with the physical contruction of the grill lid. The lid only opens 90 degrees straight up. If you use lighter fluid (like me) when starting your briquettes, the flames can really heat up the lid. By the time the briquettes are ready though, the lid has cooled to just "very warm" though, so the handle can be touched without fear of burning yourself. So, I can live with this. I'm not sure why they didnt make the lid fold back 180 degrees though.
Secondly, the nuts & bolts that hold the lid to the base are fitted quite loosely. I think this was somewhat on purpose to allow the lid to easily lift up and down. However, they were way too loose for me. The lid wobbled considerably when raising or lowering it. Since I am kind of handy, I got out some tools and tightened the bolts up. This was a pain in the you-know-what though because it was in very close quarters.
If you can look past these lid shortcomings, I think its a nice little grill. I'd actually give it 3.5 stars if I could. 3 stars for the contruction and 4 for the grilling ability.
