So what’s in a name?  Zhu Zhu, Zu Zu or Zoo Zoo it’s all about the latest craze to hit the shops. Believe it or not all the fuss is about a small furry hamster called either Pipsqueek, Squiggles or Num Nums.

Parents now have another reason to feel stressed this Christmas (as if we didn’t have enough already) and that’s how to get our hands on this damn rodent. Trust me elusive isn’t the word for it no sooner than you think you’ve found one when you actually arrive at the store they’re sold out! Grrrrr.

I wouldn’t mind but for nearly $50 you don’t appear to get very much for your money and I’m sure most children will soon get bored with this beast and not get a great deal of playtime out of it. Still if logic ruled what children desired at Christmas although it would make life easier for us where would be the fun?

Nothing is quite like the look in a child’s eyes as they see the object of their desire unfold in front of them as they rip off the Christmas paper. It almost makes all the queuing, pushing, biting and waiting worthwhile.

Sometimes people are strange. How on earth does a small fluffy toy hamster cause such a stir.  Zhu Zhu Pets are going to cause parents much pain and angst this Christmas not because they are expensive (although I wouldn’t call them cheap) but because everyone is trying to find these pesky Zhu Zhu Pets in stock.

You can feel the hysteria beginning as parents start running around in circles shouting “Zhu Zhu pets where to buy, wher to buy”. I do feel sorry for them as I still remember the awful time I had a few years ago looking for a complete set of Telly Tubbies to buy my daughter. It still causes me to shiver today. As it happens I was very lucky and was in the right place at the right time and my impossible mission was successful.

I wonder how many will be so lucky looking for ZuZu pets this year. After all it’s only the second week in November and supplies are running out already.

It looks like the Zhu Zhu range of toys is going to be one of this years more poplar Christmas toys. As always with these soft cuddly hamster like toys being so sought after the inevitable has happened. They are as difficult to find as hens teeth and although advertised by many stores as being in stock the reality is they are not.

Having said that if you’re looking for where to buy Zhu Zhu Pets you could to worse than look at Amazon. They are often in stock (if you’re quick that is) more often than other stores with the added advantage of shopping from home.

Most of the reviews for this toy have been positive the only complaints being short supply and a bit on the pricey side. Still if you’ve got to have one you’ve got to have one and short supply forces the price up – probably cheaper to buy a real hamster and a cage

My daughter has written a letter to Santa and has asked for a Zoo Zoo Pet I just had to laugh.

What’s to say about this Twilight Barbie Doll? I think we all know what a Barbie doll looks like by now and this one isn’t that much different!

This Barbie is based on the character Bella Swan in the best selling book by Stepenie Meyer which is about a family of vampires and in particular the handsome male vampire Edward Cullen with who she falls in love with. As I recall it was a very long winded and drawn out film with not a lot of action. You’d have to be a teenage girl to really enjoy it I think.

With that said as with all Barbies it would make an excellent stocking filler for some lucky child. If you look carefully you can find the matching Barbie Twilight Edward Doll and even the sound track to the movie.

This is a terrific Lego set for any kid aged 8 to 14 (and probably those much, much older).  Build a complete mine track from Lego plus the Temple with its secret trapdoor and the bridge over the track with its cart full of stones ready to drop on the evil pursuers, load up Indy and his friends and start escaping!

The track is 37 inches long and not especially complicated to build, although the colours are a little dull (pretty authentic mine colours!).  The set includes two mine carts and six mini figures – Indy, Willie, Short Round, Mola Ram and 2 henchmen, and will give hours of fun for any kid big or small to build and play with.
