We were recently contacted by the owner, Babak of PalmUnlocker to do a product review of their unlocking software in exchange for a HP Veer. We thought it would be a good chance for us to check out how far webOS has come from its Palm Pre days so we took the deal.
Their software for unlocking the HP Veer is relatively simple. What you need is your Veer, a Windows computer and an USB cable. Just purchase the software for $39.99 (To be honest, quite pricey in our opinion), and the rest is pretty self-explanatory. A quick 5-10 minute process at best. You will be provided with a straight foward walk through guide on their website.
Unlike jailbreaking for the iOS, this software doesn't really alter the phone's software per se, what it does behind the scenes is extract the unlock codes that is hidden deep in the phone already and once you have it down, you enter it on the phone when prompted to do so... And it's unlocked.
You can get the software here and use the coupon code VEERUNLOCKDISC5 to save $5 OFF
We are not affiliated with Palmunlocker and we won't receive any commission whether you purchase the software with or without the coupon code

With the imminent release of the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus, Bell has dropped the price tag once again on its Palm Pre, but this time to a impressive $0. The catch is you're still required to be chained up to Bell for a whooping 3 years. Or $99 for 2 Years, $199 for a single year or Unlocked for $349. Maybe Sprint should do the same...
The folks over at PreCentral has spotted server logs showing both the Palm Pre and Pixi running on AT&T IPs - running webOS version 1.3.8. But rest assure that webOS 1.4 lands in February. Sprint got on the Pre first, now Verizon gets webOS devices on the network before AT&T, and AT&T is next.
So Palm is back at CES this year and they surprised us all again!
Here's what is coming down the Palm pipeline:

It's 2010 and the App catalog has finally reach its 1,000 App milestone! Go Palm and the developers!
Happy New Year!
Innovative 3D games on the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi may be just around the corner. With the release of webOS 1.3.5, Palm has apparently slipped in a software library called 'Simple Directmedia Layer' or SDL. What's SDL you ask? It's a cross-platform software library that gives developers a low-level hardware access, so they can add things like accelerated 3D graphics. With all this happening, devleoepr zsoc was able to port the game DOOM onto the Pre with functioning keyboard controls. To get the game on your Pre involves some work with the Terminal app, but the developer promises an easier solution soon.
