When we look in retrospect at this generation in years to follow, the success of the Wii will appear bizarre in light of the competition it was confronting. The PS3 and the Xbox 360 are powerful, state-of-the-art game consoles supplying top-notch graphics and intoxicating gameplay. The Wii is not. In spite of these odds it has sold in unbelievable numbers and really managed to become a mainstream phenomenon.
