Update on SMC, Specialty Merchandise Corporation.

Well now when I wrote my first review on SMC, Specialty Merchandise Corporation, I found, what I thought to be “bad” about SMC, Specialty Merchandise Corporation, was there was a huge about of people who were trying to do the same thing all of them flooding the market with low return products that because of the huge amount of product no one could sell.

I have since found that the happy little SMC,Specialty Merchandise Corporation, isn’t so happy after all.

I have found on other sites a couple of not so nice stories I would like to share with you.

SMC (Specialty Merchandise Corporation) complaint by Lanore Jan 31, 2008

I filed a complaint with BBB now they are holding our website hostage and blackmailing us until we do what the company wants. we have tried calling and multiple solutions for this company and they will not give us a response refuse our calls transfer us and no one seems to be able to help get the issue resovled. we received broken products and upon a return were not given the proper information.our business has suffered and we are ready to give up I hope no one works for them have seen several complaints of people with same problems

SMC (Specialty Merchandise Corporation) complaint by Cdgregory Feb 20, 2008

After seeing the SMC ad on TV I decided that I would look into this and see if it was for me. After receiving the materials and looking them over, I decided that this was not something that I was interested in.

After a total of about 3 hours on the phone trying to get a hold of a real person to get information regarding this return and being unsuccessful, I followed the recorded directions on sending back the materials.

I sent back all of the materials, insured, and with a tracking number to the address they told me to send it to. I did all of this within the 30 days that they allowed.

For the next four months I continued to be billed for my membership and received a letter saying that my tracking number was not valid (which of course put me now beyond the 30 days allowed). I called USPS my slef and confirmed the tracking number and was told the date and the name of the person that received my insured package at SMC in California so my tarcking number was valid and they were playing games.

I took this information to my bank and they reversed all of the charges and I changed my bank account card number to prevent any further automatic withdrawals from this company.

Now they have sent me to collections and I am unable to get ahold of anyone to help resolve this matter, so I too will be going to the state’s Attorney General, BBB and anybody else that will listen.

If anybody has a valid address for SMC will you please email me at celeste98443@yahoo.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Wow!! Looks to me as if SMC,Specialty Merchandise Corporation, has turned into one more of the internet scams.

So watch your credit cards if you ever have anything to do with them.

When you really look at it, when new distributors are just becoming acquainted with network marketing sales, they are misled to believe that this particular kind of business isn’t about sales at all, but about something completely else. The cold harsh truth behind it all is that in MLM, absolutely need to make sales if you want to earn any kind of income, just like with any other kid of business. In the following paragraphs, I’ll disclose the top three hidden truths behind this all.

First, “Its not selling, its sharing”. This is probably the most common misconception out there right now. Again, the plain honest truth of the matter is that with network marketing sales, just like all businesses, at the real core level, is about an exchange of value, and in this particular situation, and exchange of cash for products or the opportunity to join the business. The “sharing” take on it all is really just used to soften the blow that your not in it for a sale.

The sharing technique is really just one person relying on the relationships that they have with friends and family, and the trust they have built up with them. They use this as a point of leverage to grow their business and sell their MLM product or opportunity.

Second, “We are not into sales, we educate on how to make better choices in peoples lives”. This form of selling is known as educational marketing and is an extremely well known tool in the sales and marketing business, along with network marketing sales also.

A great example of this can be witnessed at home depot. One of the things that many people love about home depot is that they hold classes and seminars on how to conduct home repairs and projects. This educational marketing at its best.

They invite a targeted group who wants to learn particular thing, they instruct them that one task, and then have the sale in extremely easy manner.

You can see this technique applied many times in network marketing sales with educational sessions, webinars, conference calls. All aimed at educating people which makes the sale easier.

Finally “The product sells itself”. Products don’t sell or market themselves, people sell products, plain and simple. Try this as an exercise to illustrate this point. Buy a big box of the latest wiz bang juice, top of the line, best in the world.

Alright, now here is the thing. Place that box of your product in the driveway and leave it there.

Does the product magically jump up and sell itself? No, real people getting in front of targeted prospects and explaining the benefits of a product or business is what makes the sale, not the product itself.

Thats the basics of it. I truly hope that this clears up some of the lies out there being spread about network marketing sales and a MLM business is really at its core. In order for any money to be made, someone has to go out and make the sale.

I think it’s time to take another look a Loral Langemeier, the founder and CEO of Live Out Loud.

Since the first review of Loral Langemeier I have recently found a couple of reviews from people who have had opportunity(?) to become involved with Loral Langemeier.

Bruce from New Bedford, Ma

I’ve read a couple of Loral’s books and I concur that Loral comes up short on details. Just like a lot of other self-proclaimed guru’s, Loral’s writings are always pointing you to her staff which leads to more money in her pocket and less in yours. Cha ching for Loral.

Just because Loral is a woman in a male dominated business doesn’t excuse what she is doing. Bruce

Jaye from CA

I got sucked in for over $400 on Loral’s cd’s and dvd’s which were way overpriced and vague. It is just a way to get you to invest thousands ($9,000 to $17,000) on their “millionaire coaches”. How is a company supposed to help you financially when they already have you $17,000 in the hole?

Mike from Colorado

I just got off the phone with one her millionaires and he went thru want they are looking for in a person to join their team and Loral’s “Big Table”. For those of you who do not know what the big table is, it is the elite or elites in Lorals eyes. The ones who have made it, multi-millionaire status. It seems to get to this point it usually takes 3-5 yr with $300k-$300K/passive income PLUS $2M in assets.

I have heard quite a few investment speakers and they all say the same thing and promise you the world.

So my advise is save your money and try to hang out with other people that have actually made it and not just over the phone.

The one thing and one of my final questions was well it all sounds good, but please provide me with references that have gone thru this program and have made it? The interviewer declines to give me any names. Now would you buy something like this if you really couldn’t check it out. I mean you wouldn’t hire a contractor for a house improvement without references would you.

Again, I believe one can attain this kind of status and financial freedom, but be careful on whom you trust.

Sure doesn’t look to me like Loral Langemeier has done anything new and just keeps on doing the same old same old.

Loral Langemeier, the founder and CEO of Live Out Loud, has written “The Millionaire Maker” and “Guerilla Wealth” as well as creating many different educational programs. In addition to the various seminars and workshops, there are also free teleseminars available on Loral’s website.

While Loral Langemeier seems to have a decent following and respect among her peers, some people are of the opinion that the information provided by Loral in her books is simplistic, contains too much jargon for different processes and the tips given are just not realistic and could even cause potential financial harm.

There are both positive and negative aspects to Loral Langemeier’s products and seminars. For example she adamantly supports starting your own business, but the information on how to do so is absent in her books.

Some of Loral Langemeier’s advice is oversimplified and at times misleading. She touts starting your own corporation as great way to take advantage of tax deductions. This will not work since these deductions must be verifiable business expenses.

Loral Langemeier’s team building advice is also very unrealistic. She proposes that every one should have a support team of Lawyers, CPAs, Brokers, and Investors.

Unless you have a family full of professionals what she recommends is unrealistic. These people charge a lot of money for their services and the chances of them spending their time mentoring strangers is slim and none.

The redeemable qualities of Loral Langemeier’s work can be found in its motivational capabilities. If her books or seminars can get you to actually pursue a business opportunity or research an investment vehicle then they can be called a success.

Some people think that this type of information is worth the price, but others don’t.

By now everyone knows that the internet is the new land of opportunity. Much like the older days of the gold rush, the internet has become the new frontier for wealth building opportunities, people look to work from home and for scammers. Yes, scammers seem to always find a way in and as large as the internet is, there is plenty of room to operate undetected.

This article is designed to give you some tips and ideas for finding real opportunities on the internet. Tens of thousands of people have discovered the unique chance of making money from a computer and internet connection. They will be the first to tell you how wonderful it truly is.

When you are exploring your options online, depending on what you are looking for, most often you will be required to enter you first name and email address before you are allowed to get more information. Is this a way to get scammed? Of course not. The website owner requires your contact details so they can follow up with you. This is how they send you the latest updates related to your area of interest.

In most cases, if an opportunity is going to cost you money then it has the potential to deliver a return on your investment. Free opportunities have no associated risk involved and most often, participants have no vested interest in your success. This makes perfect sense right? It should because the world of successful ecommerce requires the exchange of money just like traditional businesses do.

Thinking that everything should be free is what holds people back from making real money in life. Since I have been involved with internet marketing, I have purchased some of the most expensive internet courses available. This education has empowered me in ways that a traditional college education would never have. I believe in going to college, but I also believe in getting taught and mentored by successful people too.

While the cost of this training over the years has been steep, the dividends will continue to reward me for many years to come. This training has allowed me to learn new things, meet keep people who are highly successful and open doors into new streams of income that otherwise would have been closed. It is important to surround yourself with successful people so you can model their success.

So how can you spot a scam? When you are exploring an opportunity, it is bet to use good common sense. Stay away from work from home job sites that are free to join but once you are accepted, you are required to purchase their software through wire transfer.

What is the best way to spot a scam? There are hundreds of them. The best advice I can give you is this: Never send money to any business or individual that you have not thoroughly checked out. Additionally, a lot of scammers like to hide behind fake email addresses, unidentifiable website addresses and most often, prefer to do business by wire. This is not to say you should send money this way, just be sure to whom you are sending it to.

You should not have to be concerned about getting scammed if you follow the advice of this article. There are plenty of real opportunities online for those looking to make extra income or seeking a way to go full time.

Similar scams are done through email notifications telling you that you have won money or they need your help with the transfer of a large sum of money. Never fall for it. With a little bit of common sense and good research you will find a great opportunity.
