I agree. The auto notification is a great feature. But, people will argue that if your site pings TOO frequently, g00gle, et al. may classify you as spam. But, who knows.

I think a sitemap plugin is definitely the way to go, unless you have a static site that you don't update a lot. I like the Google Site Map Generator, because it notifies the search engines when you update your site.
