Dude,
Right on. The best way I learned was first to learn some scales, then I closed my eyes and played the same scales, then I turned on some jams and literally jammed until my fingers hurt.
And it wasn't all in one day either.

I agree, scales are very important for guitarists. Unfortunately many beginners give up before they experience the joy of being able to play a short solo on a scale.

I'm actually learning from this product now, it's absolutely amazing. It's helping me to learn to sing and work on my guitar instructions. :)

Pretty awesome post you've got here! It's actually really rare to find instructions on proper pick holding when looking for guitar instructions these days, I'm very impressed! I'll keep looking back from time to time.

Very true! Unlike what too many people believe, improvisation is not the simple act of randomly hitting any note on a musical instrument. If that was the case, anyone could have improvised like a pro. In order to avoid a chaotic improvisation, you have to learn the basics, as they are usually played while focusing on a specific scale.

I used to clench my fist when I first held the guitar pick, but I've noticed how my strumming and picking is much easier...
... and I don't appear to get as many cramps in my hand. haha
Good info.

if you're using Firefox I think adobe flash player is already installed. Not sure about Internet Explorer though. Normally the browser directs you to a link on the adobe website and you can install flash on your browser. if you haven't got it it's worth installing because a lot of websites use it for fancy applications...

I don't know anything about guitar in 60 seconds Robert. I never heard of it until now. Learn and master guitar is a top course but personally I love Jamplay.
Its got a huge beginner section, it's great value, plus there's a lot of stuff in there for more experienced guitarists. There is another site called guitartricks.com that is similar to Jamplay that might be worth taking a look at as well...
Hope that helps

Yep, learning riffs by themselves is pretty useless in the long run. I always tell everyone to not just learn the riff, but whats behind it as well (scale, key, etc.).
