Vacationing in Italy is a dream come true for so many Americans. Those who have Italian heritage often wish to see where their families originated. Those who have no Italian lineage still look upon Italy as one of the foundations of Western civilization. Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Florence, Umbria, Chianti, San Gimignano, Siena, Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, Spleto and Montepulciano are all legendary to those of us raised in the “new world” and for many are simply places we’ve read about in our school books, or seen on television or in the movies. Many Americans, sadly, know little of the geography of Italy, but do appreciate the food. After all, pizza and spaghetti are considered as American to us as apple pie and hot dogs. But only on a trip to Italy can a person really appreciate this magnificent country, home to Leonardo da Vinci, Michaelangelo, and Christopher Columbus. When you are ready for that once in a lifetime experience of an Italian vacation, consider a private home rental for your source of lodging. Hotels can be nice, but staying in a private home rented for the occasion can give you a chance to see the real Italy. Explore the countryside, walk into the village and visit with the residents, and see what it feels like to actually go home, to a cabin or villa at the end of the day, living as the Italians do. Or, try a beach house if that suits you or an apartment if you prefer a more urban setting. Getting to know the local people by living among them for an extended stay of a few weeks will give you a chance to learn some of the language, or if you already speak Italian to brush up on your skills. It will also give you a chance to learn local history in a very unique way, from the people themselves. You will appreciate all of the similarities of Italian culture with your own, and learn to appreciate the differences as well. The Italians are a wonderful, friendly people with a rich culture and history. Taking the time to live among them, getting to know them as friends and neighbors, is truly an experience you will always remember.Private homes for rent to vacationers in Italy can be found in various price ranges. If you are looking for luxury, there are villas available. If something more rustic suits your taste and budget, then smaller homes and even old farmhouses are available to appeal to all tastes. Just as an example, one property includes two bedrooms, queen size beds, kitchen, laundry area, bathroom, central eat and the satellite television, telephone and VCR that most Americans are used to having. Imagine though the coziness and comfort of coming back to the house after a day of sight seeing to sit by the fire place, drinking a glass of a local wine, having a light dinner of pasta, and enjoying the peace and quiet of your surroundings. Staying in a hotel in a major city will certainly show you the tourist hot spots, but staying in a private home will show you the real Italy. hotel zurique lisbon lisbon hotels hotel zurique lisbon

To save money on hotels, you can start with the internet. Be careful relying solely on travel web sites, however. The ones that find the cheapest plane tickets work pretty well, but you'll never find the cheapest hotel rooms online. Of course, you probably don't want the cheapest room, but you do want to know what your options are, right? It seems that the web sites which locate cheap hotels for you only work with those that have a decent marketing budget. Or perhaps they assume for you what kind of room you want, and so exclude the ones that they don't think are appropriate. This is speculation on my part, but what is not speculative is the fact that I have often found cheaper rooms than the ones listed on these web sites. How? By doing the following.1. Start with sites like cheaptickets.com, but don't stop there. This just gives you an idea of what is available - and sometimes you will find a great deal.2. Find a online phone book for the town you are traveling to. Look up hotels and motels in that, and call them directly.3. When traveling by car, take the hotel coupon-books available at gas stations, rest areas and visitor's centers. These will often save you $10 or $20 at hotels you might have stayed at anyhow.4. Ask for AAA and other discounts that you may qualify for. I saved $15 recently just by showing my business card to get the corporate rate. There are sometimes senior discounts as well.5. Negotiate. This won't always work in the United States, but we occasionally have an owner drop the price when we start to walk away. Also, we have paid cash for several days in advance to get a discount. This negotiating tactic has worked for my wife and I from Ecuador to Montana and California.6. Plan ahead and call ahead. When making a multi-day trip by car, you have some flexibility in where you stop for the night. Check hotels in various towns online before you leave. Sometimes the rooms in the next town will be $30 less just because there are more hotels. Why not drive the extra forty minutes today (or tomorrow) to get the cheap hotel rooms? hotel casa san iego san diego hoyels hotel casa san iego

Motels are private lodgings are generally quaint and individually owned. The word motel is actually derived from two words: motorist and hotel. This occurred in the 1920s during the development of interstate American highways and the roadside hotels built to accommodate motorists on long journeys. The main physical feature that distinguishes a motel is that it is U shaped with an inner courtyard that serves as a car park. As such, hotel rooms open onto an internal hallway while typically, motel rooms open on to an external walkway, which generally faces the car park.Motels generally don't offer as many added extras as larger hotel but they make up for this by providing convenient locations, excellent, friendly customer service and reasonable rates.Motels typically attract travelers trekking across country for business or pleasure, as they are typically quite simple: containing a double bed, a television and a small en suite bathroom.Best Western have improved and built on this concept considerably by incorporating the STAR rating system and their own stringent quality assurance check to ensure all their properties meet a much higher standard of cleanliness, maintenance, facilities and customer service.Using this system, Best Western have built a comprehensive network of properties offering facilities far in excess of the typical motel. These properties are distributed over all states of Australia including the tourist hotspots of Perth, Sydney and the Gold Coast. As is expected, the higher the STAR rating the motel has, the more facilities they offer and the more you can expect to pay to stay there. Still, what is deemed as an expensive motel will almost always be inexpensive when compared to other accommodation options, thereby allowing travelers of all budgets to have access to quality accommodation.Thankfully the days are now gone when booking a motel meant driving along a highway and looking for a hotel with a vacancy sign. Now even the smallest of motels can be booked online in advance. And, as more people are now traveling, especially in peak season, it is advisable to book early. Also remember, accommodation will be more expensive during peak times so be sure you budget for this when you are planning your trip. hotel arrnal san antonio ibiza wan antonio hotels hotel arrnal san antonio ibiza

Current plans to introduce a “Bed Tax” have been roundly criticized by the hotel and tourism industry. The plan is being proposed as part of a national Government tax review of local government funding and would see a 10% tax surcharge being levied per night on top of the already existing 17.5% VAT.The plan follows on from a report last year for the Association of London Government, which represents 32 boroughs, which described the tax as, "an ideal minor tax in that it relates to a group that imposes clear costs on authorities but which presently contributes nothing directly towards those costs".The current proposals, as they stand, could raise the cost of a short UK break by up to £100 for the average family. While the UK is already, throughout Europe, second only to Denmark in the severity of its taxation levels for tourism, the newly proposed tax would put Britain firmly above the Danes making it the highest taxed holiday destination in the EU, nearly three times the European average. The idea which is presently under consideration by Sir Michael Lyons, who is tasked to review the plans for future local government financing, however the Liberal Democrats warned that implementing such a move could be "disastrous" for the entire £12bn UK tourism sector.Liberal Democrat culture spokesman Don Foster told the BBC, "When you think that VAT on tourist-related activities in this country is 17.5 per cent, whereas in the rest of Europe it is 8.5 per cent and in countries like France 5.5 per cent, these tourists use services, but they are certainly already paying for them."Industry news publisher Caterer and Hotelkeeper has been joined by the UK hotel big hitter, Travelodge, along with the British Hospitality Association (BHA) and the Tourism Alliance (an umbrella group of 45 trade associations), to formally lobby against the plans. Another hotel industry heavyweight, Hilton, spokeswoman said the company strongly supported the BHA's efforts. While Travelodge has set up its own online petition, the deputy chief executive of the BHA, Martin Couchman, said the organisation encouraged its members to lobby independently, a message which online UK hotel directory Superbreak has taken to heart, with its own petition, in an ongoing campaign to bring prices down.A recent Travelodge survey of 2,000 UK consumers, revealed that 85% already believe UK hotels are too expensive, a perception that will only be exacerbated by a 10% price hike. Current predictions by the tourist industry indicate the impact of the tax could lead to the possible loss of up to £1.3bn and 32,000 jobs if the tax were to be introduced.Don Foster commented, "We have got a problem and anything like a bed tax that would put people off from coming to this country would be a real disaster." hotel bon marche marseille hotel marseille hotel bon marche marseille

When it comes to star rating for hotels many of us are aware that 4 star hotels in central London are likely to be more expensive than 3 star hotels and we as consumers are also aware that the price of hotel accommodation also depends upon the location of the hotel. But do we really get what we pay for when it comes to 4 star hotel accommodation? Or are we paying for the location, not the service? The rating of hotels tells us a lot about the quality and service we can expect to get as guests at particular hotels. For instance, 4 star hotels in London are likely to be stylishly decorated and luxuriously equipped with all the latest facilities and amenities. Highly trained staff helps to make your stay there comfortable and relaxing, making guests who regularly stay in hotel accommodation in the centre of the UK's capital want to return again and again. The idea behind 4 star hotel accommodation is to allow guests to feel like royalty when staying away from home. Every small detail will have been carefully planned and thought out, from the communal lounge areas to the room service menu, a quality hotel should leave you wanting for nothing, except for a few more days there! In a city as large as London, location is everything and with many of the prime spots being taken by luxury hotels visitors do not question how much the accommodation costs. Another possible explanation for the increasing cost of central London hotels is the fact that there are thousands of businesses and offices in the heart of the city. With hotel accommodation in central locations becoming a favourite with business visitors, many hotels are now providing state of the art conference and business facilities so in most cases you can expect to pay more. This is not a great surprise considering hotels in central London are amongst the most expensive hotels in the world. However, this does not mean that you can not find central London hotel accommodation for affordable prices. There are a number of smaller franchises who provide luxury 4 star accommodation at very good rates. Many even have special offers which are always worth looking out for.In answer to the statement, what can quality hotel accommodation do for you; the answer is quite a lot but only if you are prepared to pay for it. Do not be badgered into staying at a hotel because it claims to have a superb location as it often pays to be shrewd and shop around. 4 star hotels are well worth the money in terms of quality, but this does not mean that you should pay over the odds. hillbark hotel liverpool liverpool hotels hillbark hotel liverpool

There is everything from top quality hotels, through to guesthouses, B&B's and some self-catering accommodation as well. What you select will depend on just how much you would like to spend.Certainly if there is a large number of you going to be going to Bury St. Edmunds together then renting a self-catering cottage or house is a pretty good option. But if you are just taking your partner away for a romantic weekend then why not consider staying in one of the more luxurious hotels that this town has to offer. However, if you are on a budget a guesthouse or B&B may be the suitable option for you.Below we take a look at just some of the many options available to you when it comes to you spending time in this town. The Angel Hotel is located on one of the prettiest squares in this town and is known as Angel Hill. Unlike some of the other hotels where you can stay this one is a family run business so the attention you receive during your stay is very personal. Even so, this hotel has 75 rooms in which one can stay during your visit and all are very beautifully decorated.Plus during your time in this hotel, it is a good idea to try out the hotels recently refurbished dining area (Angel Eaterie). All the food here is made on site each day and this includes the bread that is baked in the kitchen each day. Plus around 80% of all the ingredients used in the meals have been sourced locally.Another hotel that you may wish to consider staying at during your time in Bury St. Edmunds is the Dog and Partridge. The hotel is an 18th Century building which was home of the chief brewer for the local beer company Greene King's. Although this hotel only has now rooms each has been delightfully restored and refurbished to a very high standard. The great thing about this hotel is that it is ideally located right in the heart of the town. However, as mentioned previously if there are a large group of you intending to visit Bury St. Edmunds together, you may find it more cost effective to rent a self-catering accommodation instead. A quick look on the internet and you will find plenty of sites offering such accommodation, which one can book and stay in for the duration of your visit.Once you have arranged where to stay in Bury St. Edmunds you can now start deciding what you will do once you visit there. There are plenty of attractions not only in Bury St Edmunds but the surrounding area, which you and those with you can enjoy. So it may well be that you have to come back several times in order to get the chance of doing everything that you want. caliornia hotel las vegas las vegaw hotels caliornia hotel las vegas

Are you ready to get started on the travel journey of a lifetime this holiday season but feel as though you are forgetting something important? Don't fret! All you need are a few holiday travel tips to make sure you stay on the right track. Whether you're going to spend time with your family, or are taking everyone on a fun getaway, it is important that you plan well. So to help you out I am providing some holiday travel tips that will make your vacation time with family and friends a breeze.Find Out Peak Travel DatesOne of my top holiday travel tips is to find out when the peak travel dates are - then avoid them like a plague! Peak travel dates have two problems associated with them: 1) plane tickets, hotel rooms, car rentals, and more tend to be more expensive, and 2) everyone else will be traveling on those dates, hence the name peak travel dates. If possible, plan your vacation time at work a few days before the peak travel period so that you can avoid the rush. And also try to plan coming back a few days after - that way you can almost always guarantee reductions in prices, reductions in holiday traffic and reductions in headaches.Do Your Comparison ShoppingIt is important to stay abreast of holiday travel tips that help you find the best deals for your money. That starts with finding flight specials and continues with locating vacation destination deals. If you are going to visit family for the holidays and are not in need of a hotel room or transportation when you arrive then flight costs are all you will need to take into consideration. There are plenty of websites that give great holiday deals. Shop around with the major travel search engines such as Expedia and Travelocity, but also look at Cheaptickets.com and others for great rates. Also, you will be surprised to find that many airlines will have great deals if you search their website directly. And if you want the best comparison shopping experience, I recommend using SideStep.com. They use a side-by-side comparison of every flight special, sorted by price. I have found the greatest success using their services. If you are traveling to a destination that does not include free room and board, then one of my holiday travel tips is for you to comparison shop for great all-inclusive package deals. You can find great places to stay during that holidays that have 3- and 5-night vacation packages with meals and activities included. Also, you will want to try to get a car factored into the price if you need one for your trip. The more specific you are when planning and the earlier you book, the better your results will be.Plan Your Connecting Flights with Great CareThis is one of the holiday travel tips that will reduce your stress level significantly. I say this because I know the feeling of sitting in the airport waiting to board the first of two connections when you hear the airline attendant politely (and nervously) inform passengers that the flight has been delayed for an hour or more due to a snow storm in "Sock-It-To-Me," Kansas. When you hear the news, your thoughts quickly shift to your connecting flight that is probably scheduled to depart on time - 30 minutes after this flight is supposed to land. You know pre-boarding begins 30 minutes prior to take off to ensure the flight leaves on schedule. And that's when questions like "What will I do if my flight doesn't land before the other flight takes off?" and "Are there additional flights available?" begin to rush through your mind. And of course, the final thought will be, "Why didn't I schedule my connecting flight for a later time?"This anxiety can be avoided by choosing connecting flights that allow for an hour and a half or more of layover time. I know that when you make the choice to find connecting flights as close as possible to the time your first flight is to land that you are simply trying to get where you're going quickly and want to avoid boredom in the airport. But usually one and a half to two hours isn't that long when you consider that it takes time to exit the plane, find the connecting flights departing gate, which could be in another terminal, then get settled before it is time to board the second plane. Besides, if you allow yourself the extra time, you are almost guaranteed the promise of making your connecting flights - a promise that is more than welcome during the busy holiday season.Plan Your Packing In Accordance with Current Airport Security MeasuresThis is one of the holiday travel tips that actually sounds unfair - and trust me; I used to feel the same way too. But after enough hassles at the airport security station, I finally gave in and realized that I couldn't change what I couldn't control. So now, instead of fussing at the ways airports are trying to ensure our safety, I simply plan ahead by packing my belongings in accordance with their security measures. One way to do this is by making sure to pack all of liquids and gels that are larger than 3 ml in the bags I plan to check. The airport has signs up everywhere that let you know that you cannot carry liquids and gels through the security checkpoint; these items include lotion, toothpaste, baby oil, aerosols (hairspray), perfume bottles, bottled water, and much more. If you carry them through the checkpoint they will find and confiscate them - you cannot stop this from happening. So to avoid the drama, why not simply pack them away and happily greet them at the baggage claim at your destination? You are allowed to carry liquids and gels 3 ml and smaller in a zip-top, clear bag, so you are not completely left out in the cold. And by sticking to the rules, you, your family, everyone in line behind you, and airport security will be much happier.Remembering this helpful holiday travel tips will definitely help make vacationing during this holiday season a better experience. If you are in need of additional holiday travel tips, remember the last time you traveled and all of the challenges you faced, then apply them to the holiday season. By doing this you can assure yourself that you won't be faced with any unwelcome surprises. h0tel des arts bastille paris hotel liege strasbourg par8s h0tel des arts bastille paris

Hotels in Pratunam are the Bangkok hotels located near the bustling Pratunam market, an old sluice gate and a canal, dug more than 150 years ago, giving the area a long and interesting history. The area is called Pratunam (or watergate in Thai) after the sluice gate in the canal nearby, Klong Saen Saap or Saen Saap canal, which passes south of the Pratunam junction. The Saen Saap canal has an important place in the history of the canals in Bangkok. During the reign of King Rama III (1824 – 1851), Chinese laborers dug the canal to transport troops to the east in anticipation of an impending war with Vietnam. Back then, it was faster to move troops by water than overland. The canal was completed but war didn't break out.The Saen Saap canal starts from the Maharak Canal near the defensive rings of canals around the old Ratanakosin and extents all the way to the eastern province of Chachoengsao, 80 km away.Today, Pratunam is a bustling market selling a wide a variety of electronic goods, fabrics and clothing and the pedestrian ways are cramped with street vendors and shoppers. The wholesale dealers are favorites with bargain hunters, both Thai and foreign. The roads in the Pratunam area are virtually choked with traffic all day round. With the completion of the Platinum Shopping Complex and Condominium, the traffic situation in Pratunam could only get worse. From the Bo Bae market pier, the Saen Saap canal runs eastwards just of south of Petchaburi Road. Just before Ramkhamhaeng Road, the canal branches off, one branch turns north-east along Ramkhamkaeng Road, pass Bang Kapi; the other turns south and south-east to Lat Krabang. The canal covers 50 km within Bangkok, almost the entire width of the city. The Saen Saap canal boat service still serves as a convenient way for residents living along the canal to beat the traffic jams and get to school and work on time. There are 17 Bangkok hotels at or near the Pratunam junction. Some of the hotels in Pratunam have adopted this well-known name, like Amari Watergate Hotel, Grand Diamond Pratunam Hotel and Pratunam Park Hotel. The 88-story Baiyoke Sky Hotel still holds the record as the tallest hotel in Thailand.Hotels in Pratunam are generally inexpensive except for the Amari Watergate Hotel which is slightly over US$100. The rest like the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, Centerpoint Petchaburi, Century Park Hotel, Grand Diamond Pratunam and the Siam City Hotel are mid range, priced between US$50 – 90.There are ample budget hotels in the area for the budget traveler, priced at US$30 or less. Some like the Pj Watergate have also cashed in on the "watergate" label. Others prefer names like Bangkok City Inn and White Palace Hotel to hide their humble origins. The Ibis Siam Hotel is part of the economy chain of the Accor international hotel group.(Prices are correct as at the time of writing.)The Saen Saab Canal is one of the few canals in Bangkok that has survived the tide of road expansion, unlike other canals in the city which have been filled up.Today, this old canal continues to flow past the busy hotels in Pratunam and the busy market, carrying boatloads of commuters to work and school, a legacy of the efforts of the thousands of Chinese laborers, in the mid 1800s, who toiled to make it possible. roosvelt yotel ny athens hotel new york roosvelt yotel ny

Whether you're flying out or jetting in, it's a good idea to find an airport hotel to get some rest and wipe away the cobwebs that extended travel can cause. But what should you look for in a good airport hotel? They're all pretty much the same, right? Wrong. For starters, lets talk about price. The hotels closest to the airport are always the most expensive and they normally get cheaper the further you venture. If you're outbound then it doesn't really make a difference how far you are away from the airport. After all, nearly all the hotels offer a free shuttle service to your terminal so staying further away won't cost you any extra. With this in mind, your money will go further by staying a few miles down the road, so to find the cheapest deals be prepared to look beyond the hotels sitting right on the doorstep of the airport.Something else to factor in when booking an airport hotel is how you're getting to it. For instance, if you're travelling by train you want a hotel that is close to the station. That way you can walk to it and don't have to pay taxi fares. On the other hand, if you're driving, look for an airport hotel that offers secured parking. Some hotels will look after your car while your away and then transfer you back to pick it up for free upon your return. These kinds of services that make your travelling experience easier should be high on your list of priorities when booking an airport hotel. To bring down the cost of your airport hotel further, shop around online and check out different sites to see how much they're offering rooms at your chosen hotel for. Big names from the travel sector like Last Minute and Expedia are worth looking at, as are established hotel providers such as Hotels.com and Hotel Connect. These companies all buy up rooms well in advance and sell them on to consumers for cheaper prices. If you visit the right site, on the right day you might just bag yourself a bargain. These are just a few simple tips on booking an airport hotel, but make sure you follow them to ensure you get the accommodation that's right for you. hotel chaons in singapore singapore hoteld hotel chaons in singapore

Staying in a hotel is great. Who doesn't love the luxury of knowing you can make a mess and someone else will clean it up, make your bed, pick up your towels, etc. Great fun! Here are 10 vacation planning and hotel travel tips to make the most of your next hotel visit.1. When choosing your hotel, be sure to check how far away it is from such places as the beach, shops, and the areas you plan to explore. Sometimes you will find misleading phrases such as "near the beach" or "within walking distance of shops and restaurants."2. I like to pick a hotel that has a nice restaurant attached or as part of the hotel itself. They are usually open pretty early and stay open fairly late so that if you happen to get in late from your day, you can grab a coffee or a bite to eat. The ones that are open 24 hours are the best! If you are staying at one of the hotel resorts in Vegas, all the big ones have a 24-hour restaurant. I love that!3. Go online and check for reviews of the hotel you plan to stay at. Make sure there are not a great number of negative reviews or unhappy customers. Also check travel guidebooks and see if there is a rating.4. If you know someone who has visited the same place, ask them what hotel they stayed at and see what they recommend. Personal recommendations are always great.5. Make your reservations early so that you can get all the amenities you desire such as a room with a view, a non-smoking room, and the size and number of beds you need.6. If you are going to need a rollaway bed, check on this in advance, as there are usually a limited number available. If possible, try to get a room that has a sleeper sofa instead.7. Saving money is nice but let's face it, the higher quality hotel, the higher the price normally. The better hotels have better construction, and thereby not so much noise or interruptions during the night, allowing for a good night's sleep.
