5 Tips For Picking The Perfect Gym

perfectgymWhen it comes to picking the best gym it is obvious that we need to pick one that is just right for you. But so many people fall for advertising and marketing ploys that are used to get them in the door and signed up to a membership. Here are 5 tips that need to be follwed in order to find the perfect gym for you.

1. Membership cost – This is a big one that can have severe negative effects on your bank balance if you don’t pick the right one from the start. You must work out your needs in this area. How many times per week will you be going? Will you be using other facilities or taking part in other classes such as yoga? What is the minimum amount of time I can get membership for? Make sure that you are aware of your situation because to many people get all pumped up about signing up with the brand new “hot” gym and then they go a few times and then give up and they are lumped with membership fee’s month after month. Make sure that you shop around in order to find the best deal as well, membership prices can vary immensly from place to place.

2. Location, location, location – This is paramount! The gym you choose should be as close to either home or work as possible, with the preference being that it is close to both. If the gym is close to you it will help with the motivation factor. You don’t want to spend ages driving to and from the gym you will be more likely to get fed up and procrastinate.

3. Fitness Trainers – It is a good idea to sign up with a gym that has certified personal trainers. Even if you currently do not use or need one it’s always good to know that you can tap into their knowledge base whenever you need. Plus you never know when you might want to get their services for instance if you want to radically change your workouts or if you hit a plateau.

4. Exercise Equipment – An extremely important factor of finding the perfect gym for you is the exercise equipment. If you prefer to use free weights then you need to make sure that they have enough available even when they are busy.

If you use machines the once again make sure that they have enough variety that will hit all muscle groups and the same goes for exercise bikes and treatmills etc.

A lot of frustration can be caused in the gym when all you want to do is pump out your workout but you have to wait too long in between sets because there is no exercise equipment available.

5. Cancellation Policy – This is a big one! When your considering signing up for membership it is always a good idea to discuss their cancellation policies. If you line of work could have you locating in the near future, it’s always good to have the posibility to be able to have a flexible cancelation policy. They may partially refund you or you could even pay them a low cost to break the membership. But as always shop around for this as well.

Six Pack Abs – How To Get Six Pack Abs Fast

how-to-get-six-pack-fastWho doesn’t want six pack abs? There isn’t even a need to answer that question! The attainment of six pack abs is on the top of most mens must have muscle groups.

Getting six pack abs doesn’t have to be something out of reach for you when you become dedicated to learning the fundamental techniqes of getting six pack abs.

Getting rock hard abs isn’t the easiest thing to accomplish but it can be made much easier with the right techniques.

Follow these 3 steps to get maximum results.
1.Clean Up Your Diet.
If your diet is not a high priority you can kiss your six pack abs goodbye. Lets face it you know you need to exercise but no matter how many sit ups and crunches you do your not going to see your abs if you have a layer of fat covering them up. You may have an amazing six pack but no one is going to know that it is there!
So what do you do? You need to have adequate amounts of protein to keep your appetite under control and you need to include small amounts of healthy fats and vegetables and fruits for sustained energy. You must make sure that your calorie intake is under control. To lose weight you need to eat less calories than you can burn off during the day. Otherwise your six pack will forever remain slumbering under a stubborn layer of fat.

2.Exercise – Variety, Variety, Variety!
As you continue your quest for the holy grail of abdominals you will need to perform a VARIETY of exercises.
You need to spice up your ab workouts and throw in mulitple different movements. If you are just stuck doing crunches and sit ups you are severely slowing down your progress. Your adominal muscles will quickly adapt to the same stimulus that you put it through and you will stop seeing results.
You need to keep the abdominal muscles in a constant state of “what the ???” And you need to keep them guessing and keep them confused to halt the adaptation process and force the muscles to grow. So add some new exercises into the mix next time and watch your results skyrocket!

3.Cardio Crazy.
Doing the right sort of cardio is imperetive to gaining six pack abs fast. Now please don’t think that you have to jump on the treadmill and start hammering out sessions there.
To get those six pack abs you will need to do about 2 – 3 intense sessions of cardio a week. Great cardio workouts include sprinting, hill running and skipping. Forget the treadmill. You will get great results with these type of exercises.
Rotate the intensity levels by cranking up the intencity for 20 to 40 seconds and then decrease it for 1 minute and then repeat this intencity up and down 7 – 10 more times and you will have a killer routine that will burn that fat quickly and help reveal those ab muscles.
So next time you step out of the shower and start to check out your stomach in the mirror stop fantasising about what they could look like and start putting a these three steps into action and get those six pack abs fast.

6 Pack Abs Fast – The Real Story!

vincedelmonte3Believe it or not but the most important factor to getting a solid ripped six pack is going to be your diet. There is so much bull flung around in the health and fitness area but one of the truest statements ever made is ‘abs are made in the kitchen’. I don’t care how many sit ups, crunches and hanging leg raises you can do, if you got a layer of fat covering your stomach your six pack just isn’t going to show…and it definitely won’t be making an impact anytime soon unless you fix your diet!

Here are a few tips that you can implement right away.

Straight up, your going to need to be getting adequate amounts of protein. You will feel more full on a protein based diet than a carbohydrate alternative and protein also plays a very important part in the building blocks of muscular tissue.

Also increase your intake of the good fats, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated. So up the ante on fish oils, nuts, avocado and extra virgin olive oil. Keep your intake of fats at about 30% or a bit lower because they do have concentrated amounts of calories but you will feel fuller for longer on fats. As another bonus your insulin levels will stabalize.

So what about carbs? Well the easy answer is to minimalize your intake. The time when you most need to be focused on carbohydrates is during the post workout period because this is when your body is at the most neediest stage for carbohydrates. Your body will literally suck them up and absorb them to be used to build up your muscle tissues and aid in muscle repair and recovery. The trouble with carbohydrates is when your are indulging on them all the time and they are more than likely going to turn into body fat unless they are taken post workout.

Lastly, you should make it a habit of eating about one cup of raw vegetables at every meal. If you adopt this habit every day you will experience amazing changes. Firstly, all the live enzymes in the veggies are going to aid your absorption of all the nutrients and macronutrients of your meal, they will control your insulin levels and keep them stable, you will feel better and you will be more hydrated. Oh and your skin is going to look fab as well.

The bottom line is you need an awesome exercise routine that focuses on your abs but your also going to have to focus, if not more so, on your diet. Implement the tips above and lets those abs shine through once and for all!

Battle Of The Protein Powders

proteinpowderbattleWhich so many different types of protein powders on the market you could go crazy trying to figure out which one to take and when! But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. In this short post I will go over the three major types of protein powders and highlight the benefits and downfalls of them.

The three major protein powders are: Whey protein, casein protein and soy protein.

Whey Protein

Why protein has an superior amino acid profile, it can be rapidly absorbed and utilized, it has a high amount of cysteine and many different types of peptides which have different features. Whey protein is found in twenty percent of total milk protein. Because whey protein is rapidly absorbed and utilized the best times to have it are before working out and straight after (within one hour of finishing your workout is best). Having whey protein a few times per day will help keep you in an anabolic state.

Casein Protein

Casein protein like whey protein has an complete amino acid profile, it is very slowly digested and also has peptides in a varying amount. Unlike whey protein casein is not good to have before or after workouts since it is so slowly absorbed into the bloodstream. Casein makes up eighty percent of milk protein. Whey protein is superior in these situations because you need protein to be absorbed fast. The best time to have casein protein, where it is far superior to whey, is right before bed so that a steady steam of protein is absorbed into your bloodstream as you sleep. This will keep you in an anabolic state and prevent muscle breakdown.

Soy Protein

Soy protein was hailed as a miracle for vegetarian bodybuilders for along time ago and it was hyped up as a wonder food with magical properties but recently soy has come under fire. Many soy based products including soy protein is genetically modified and it contains large amounts of estrogen which is definitely not good for males who want to build muscle. I would not recommend soy protein. But if your a vegetarian then there are other less popular vegetarian proteins that are coming out that are excellent. Look for vegetarian proteins with brown rice or yellow pea protein bases.

So who wins the war of the protein powders! I think whey would come in with a first place, followed by casein and lastly a vegetarian based protein such as brown rice protein. Take whey throughout the day and before and after workouts, while take casein before bed or when you are going through an extended amount of time without being able to ingest any protein.

5 Killer Fat Burning Tips

Lets tackle the subject of weight loss and fat burning with these 5 killer tips that will have you blow torching fat from those stubborn places on your body in no time flat.

1.Ditch The Fast Food….Now!
Reverse Nike’s advice and “Just don’t do it”. Fast food is bad news full stop. Don’t venture into any fast food places and don’t cop out and go to one with the intention of eating something healthy because there are many hidden bad stuff in even the so called “healthy” meals at fast food restaurants.

Eat only fresh, healthy meals that have good sources of protein, vegetables and healthy fats. Skip the fast food and make your own meals. Have some fun with this and get creative in the kitchen and your body will thank you. And you will not only lose weight but your skin will clear up, your concentration will increase and you will just feel really damn good.

2.If It’s A Liquid Calorie…Run!

Soda’s, fruit and vegetable juices (unless freshly squeezed), sports drinks and so on have all got to go. Sugar in the form of liquid is the very last thing that you want in your body when your trying to lose weight and strip fat from your body. The only exception to this rule is if your having the liquid calories as a post workout beverage. Also think about limiting alcohol as well and definitely go easy or completely ditch the cocktails. Nasty, nasty stuff for weight loss.

3.Become A Nut

To get some good fats into you and to fill you up snack on half oz of nuts (walnuts and almonds are best – unsalted of course) once or twice a day. Stay away from the commercial packaged ones as they are usually cooked with trans fats and heavily salted. Nuts are great for filling you up, curbing your appetite so that you don’t need to eat as much and as frequently. And they are good for you to.

4.Become Obsessed With Rainbows

Increase your servings of veggies and fruits gradually so that you are having up to five serves a day and then gradually increase from there to, all the way up to ten serving a day. Aim for mixing up the colours and choose from the whole spectrum don’t get stuck on any favorites, mix it up and you will get outstanding benefits. Organic is of course best, they are expensive but they are so much more beneficial that it is worth it.

5.Walk It Baby

After your meals go for a short ten minute walk, this will not only help your food digest (slow walking only), it will relax you and help burn up some calories from your meals. If any thing it sure beats the alternative of slugging yourself on the sofa and watching television.

Skinny Guys – Does Adding Muscle Equal More Sex?

1146070_misskaSkinny guys if your struggling in the dating arena then maybe adding some muscle to your skinny frame might help. Let’s face it women like men who look masculine and we are not talking about meat heads with huge muscles. We are talking about men who work out and develop a healthy looking physique that is obvious.

I know that this may seem obvious but research is also highlighting this fact and time and time again psychology studies show that women will choose men that are more muscular for sexual partners in the short term and have sex with them quicker than without going through a long dating period. A further interesting finding is that these types of men, women will also sleep with them without having a strong emotional attatchment to them at the beginning.

So basicaly if your a skinny guy and you want to have more “flings” or possibility of being in more relationships then building some muscle can help you quite a bit in this area. Although I still think the driving factor for working out and packing on muscle as a skinny guy should be for health and self esteem purposes if you need a bit more motivation then picturing yourself “hooking up more” as your pumping iron is probably good for you.

So if your a skinny guy who is out of luck with women find a workout that is suited specifically for hardgainers and stick with it and reap the rewards over and over.

Hardgainer Project X Video

Hardgainer Project X is really carving out it’s niche for being the ultimate weight gain program for skinny guys who want to gain weight and muscle quickly and easily. Hardgainer Project X is a kickass course that is designed specifically for skinny guys and this is precisely why it is the go to program for skinny guys because it deals directly with them and no one else.

Being a previously skinny guy myself I use to hate buying workouts and training guides because they were all aimed at losing weight, there was usually only a small section dedicated to people who actually wanted to gain weight (pretty much useless) and it always use to piss me off big time. Hardgainer Project X is one of those guides that I wish I had a few years back when I was a struggling skinny guy.

Healthier Choices in Nutrition Mean Improved Health

A healthier diet is not about how much you eat or measuring portions, counting calories or cutting carbs. It is a long-term lifestyle alternative. The concept of healthy dieting is considered to be one aspect of good living and healthy practices.

To lose weight naturally, you must know what makes you fat in the first place. When you eat carbohydrates your body turns them into sugar. These sugars are either immediately sent to the cells of the body for energy or they are stored in the liver. Any excess sugars are turned into body fat.

The first step towards a general improvement in your health is better nutrition. This begins with eating clean, fresh, whole foods, foods that have not been commercially processed. Foods, which are considered to be in their natural state, are the best choice. Making healthy choices is becoming increasingly difficult in todays fast food world. Attention to food preparation should always is top of the list. Eating a diet, which includes whole grains, seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetables and high in fibre is an excellent way to begin.

We have become a ‘living to eat’ nation as opposed to an eating to live one. When creating a healthier eating plan much consideration must be given to meal planning and time management. A lifestyle review is needed to decide how you combine healthy foods into your daily diet. On your day off or at the weekend plan the meals for the week to come. Try to determine what meals you will eat in the following week. You will be better organized if you make lists. Other good preparation tips include: -

Integrate grocery shopping into your weekly routine.

Wash all fruit and vegetables before storing.

Select only restaurants offering healthy options when dining out.

Clear out fridges and pantries and discard all previously purchased unhealthy foods include all processed, sugary foods and drink. Also foods, which are high in harmful fats.

Choose whole foods over processed foods. These have not undergone procedures to make them look more attractive or to extend shelf life. These processes include hydrogenating, stabilizing, emulsifying, thickening, homogenizing, flavouring, mulling, colouring, pasteurizing and irradiating.

Most food processing involves heat, which depletes the food of its vitamin and mineral content. This application of heat also destroys beneficial enzymes.

When making the transition from processed to whole foods buy organic fruits and vegetables when possible. Modern day farmers have considerably escalated their use of pesticides and herbicides in recent years. There are at least sixty cancer causing pesticides classed as legal to use. After purchasing organic products, wash in a solution of hydrogen peroxide or Milton. (Dilute with nine parts water) this kills any parasites, which may be on the products. If organic produce is not available in your area, then use frozen, as this is the better option, with a higher nutritional value, than canned.

Meat produced by modem farming often carries disease and the animals have been give large amounts or growth hormones and antibiotics. Once again it is best to choose organic for dairy, poultry and meat products. It is preferable to eat brown rather than white rice. Millet, barley, bulgur wheat, buckwheat, teff, spelt, quinoa and amaranth are nourishing whole grains, which can be used as a substitute. It is always best to choose organic grains if possible. Supermarkets and natural food stores often sell these in bulk form.

Always read labels and steer clear of foods that contain chemical preservatives, artificial sweeteners and hydrogenated vegetable oil. This oil has been associated with numerous health problems and is found in commercial peanut butter and margarine.
