Over the past few years, Aberdeen has been following the
emergence of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) as a viable
platform for Business Intelligence (BI) deployments. In the
SaaS model, software itself is not licensed or owned by the
organization; it is provided as a service and rented. The
service is usually paid for on a subscription basis, and fees
may be assessed on enterprise-wide use, on a per user basis,
or based on other measures such as data volume. This report
is the second in a series exploring the growing adoption and
maturity of SaaS BI. Based on data drawn from Aberdeen's
agile BI research (Agile BI: Three Steps to Analytic Heaven),
this document highlights the economic benefits that can
accrue from the adoption and use of Software-as-a-Service in
comparison to traditional BI deployments. Request Free! |

In today's manufacturing environment, code quality is often
sacrificed in order to achieve higher production speeds.
However, corner cutting in product coding can be extremely
costly. Fortunately, there is a solution, and leading

When users get frustrated with the performance of an
application, it's often difficult to isolate whether the
cause of performance degradation is coming from the client,
the servers, the network, or the behavior of the application
itself. This guide is a must read how-to resource handbook for network engineers that covers:

With the exploding adoption of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)
applications, enterprise IT is fundamentally changing. While
on-demand services provide tremendous ROI, they also
introduce new challenges that must be overcome to truly
capitalize on their potential. Identity management problems
such as controlling who is granted access to which
applications and data and how to control access to these
applications leveraging on premise directories such as Active
Directory, have become increasingly important. Single Sign-On
and user management solutions that are optimized for the
cloud are necessary to help address these challenges. This
white paper presents the eight biggest Identity and Access
Management (IAM) challenges associated with adopting and
deploying cloud and SaaS applications, and discusses best
practices for addressing each of them. Request Free! |

As organizations adopt more SaaS/Cloud apps like
Salesforce.com, Google Apps, WebEx, Concur or NetSuite,
managing users' identity and access across each app's siloed
user directory becomes increasingly challenging. Provisioning
and deprovisioning users is a time-intensive manual process
that involves administrators across multiple departments,
leaving organizations open to risk if a fired employee's
access isn't revoked right away. Further, while
anytime/anywhere access can be a boon to productivity, it
also poses adoption and security challenges. IT departments
must find a way to harness the benefits of SaaS, while
minimizing business risk. Integrating Active Directory (AD) with SaaS/Cloud applications is key to the solution, but AD does not natively plug into them. This paper will discuss the following three different options for extending AD to SaaS/Cloud apps:

SaaS applications enable companies to rapidly deploy powerful
capabilities to a broad set of users at very low costs, but
this very accessibility introduces a new set of
organizational and technical challenges. Providing secure
Single Sign-On (SSO) across applications becomes a real
challenge when users can get access from any browser, at any
time, from any place. For IT the challenges range from how to
automate user and account provisioning and de-provisioning,
how best to integrate with on premise infrastructure like
Active Directory and how to track and report on who has
access to which application and with what permissions. The
SaaS model promises the benefit of tightly aligning cost and
usage, but realizing those benefits at scale can be
challenging as usage and staffing shift away from initial
deployment assumptions. These challenges grow exponentially
as organizations adopt multiple SaaS apps and ultimately IT
overhead simply does not scale. Request Free! |
