Series 7, the "first of a new kind" - a new top of the
line shaving system from Braun and a revolution in shaving
technology. It has been uncompromisingly engineered to
capture more hair with every stroke, even problem hairs, for
Braun.s closest and most comfortable shave ever.
Braun Series 7 motor sends over 10,000 micro-vibrations per
minute through the shaver head to gently stimulate the
skin, causing it to ripple, which helps capture and shave
more hairs with every stroke. The hair is shaved with
high-speed precision using leading edge Gillette Blade
Technology. For added closeness and comfort, Braun Series 7
incorporates a Sensitive Flexing Head, which follows the
contours of a man's face with twice the pivoting angle of
other Braun shavers, and shaves hard-to-reach areas using
touch sensitive foils that respond to the slightest change
in skin surface. Additionally, Braun Series 7 is the
world's first shaver brand with an ENERGY STAR-qualified
battery charger, which recognizes the shaver's
energy-efficient design and Braun's commitment to
environmental sustainability.
Braun Series 7 features the world's most intelligent
Clean&Renew system that automatically cleans,
lubricates, dries and charges the shaver at the touch of a
button. It features a new Fast Clean mode (available only
in 9595 model) that cleans the shaver in just 25 seconds,
which is ideal for men on the go. For occasions when the
Clean&Renew system is not available, the Series 7
shaver head can be washed under running water. The shaver
also incorporates a modern, ergonomic design that combines
an elegant silver and chrome finish with sleek lines.

"Great shaver" 2010-02-18
By
Gerald B. Hatley (North Carolina)
The Braun Series 7 - 790 cc pulsonic shaver does a GREAT job. I
have a very tough beard and especially have a hard time shaving
on my jaw line. This unit shaves me VERY close and does it very
quickly. I am very pleased with this product.
"Consider Series 5 or Series 3"
2010-02-16
By
The Phoenix (USA)
I've been using electric shavers for over 25 years. I'm of
Italian descent and need to shave every day. I've been using
Braun razors since they started selling them in the U.S. about 20
years ago. The rechargeable battery on my Braun 7680 hasn't been
holding a charge for very long (after 8 years) so I decided to
get a new razor. The Braun 7680 was the first Braun with the
clean and renew system. It's basically the Series 5 but without
the "comfort blades" and the "power comb." So I decided to try
the Series 7.
The main differences between the Series 7 and the Series 5 is the
Series 7 has the Pulsonic feature and free floating heads (which
is the main feature of the Series 3). Both the 7 and the 5 have
the contour hugging head and comfort blades. The Series 3 does
not have the contour hugging head.
In short, the Series 7 does not give me a closer shave than by
old 7680. Less skin irritation, but not as close. Why? Well, I
don't see how the Pulsonic feature would cause a less close
shave, so I don't think it's that. I think it is a combination of
the free floating head and the comfort blades. The free floating
head doesn't allow you to press the razor as close to the skin as
the Series 5 (and my old 7680) because they move up and down, so
you can't get as close. The contour blades are sharp "sideways"
instead of the sharp end being against the foil, which means the
blade isn't as close to your skin. Both of these features are
good to prevent inadvertent skin irritation, but don't allow you
to get as close as you might like.
Since the comfort blades are mandatory on the Series 3, 5 and 7,
you have no choice (I wish they'd make the older style cutter
block, even if sold at the same price, as an option). However,
the Series 5 doesn't have the free floating head and the Series 3
allows you to "lock" the free floating head. Accordingly, you may
want to consider the 3 or the 5 instead of the 7 as I suspect
they will provide a closer shave than the 7. If I could do it
over, I'd have gotten the Series 5 instead of the 7.
If they want to make the Series 7 better, they'd allow the user
to lock the free floating head in addition to locking the contour
hugging head, and allow you to turn off the Pulsonic feature.
Until then, go with the Series 5 or 3.
A quick word on the clean and renew station. I never had a
problem with the one that came with my 7680. It had a fan that
dried the razor after cleaning, and you could set it to either
clean, charge the battery, or do both. The Series 7 unit does not
have a fan, so the reason it takes so long to run the cleaning
cycle is because it has to air dry. Also, it automatically
charges if its in the base. For me, the older version was better.
Finally, the base doesn't really detect whether the razor needs a
quick cleaning or more thorough cleaning - it just goes by how
long its been since its been cleaned in the base. If you clean it
manually, it doesn't detect it and gives it a longer cleaning
cycle instead of the quick cycle. They need to allow the user to
select which cleaning cycle to run. So, in reality, the base is
no better than the one that comes with the Series 5 or 3 razor,
and is less useful than the older one I had.
"Inadequate Cleaning Dock"
2010-02-16
By
Mark Wylie
This shaver does a great job. It is clean, efficient, overall I
give the shaver itself a 5 star.
However, once you use the shaver, you have to put it back into a
plastic cleaning dock that cleans the shaving heads and recharges
the battery.
The fit of the shaver into the dock is so inadequate that the
blue led on the shaver (the one that shows it is charging)
sometimes flashes intermittently. (the dock does fantastic light
shows while this happens...) You start the cleaning cycle and the
shaver vibrates away from the charging contacts. So the cleaning
cycle stops. The only reliable way I can get it to clean is to
hold the shaver into the dock for 19 minutes. Doesn't that defeat
the purpose of the electric shaver?
Shaver is great. Cleaning system sucks.
"Great Shaver" 2010-02-16
By
Ariel Benzakein (Boston, MA USA)
I replaced my Braun 8585 with this new model, and I am very
satisfied with my purchase. I've been using Braun foil shavers
for the last twenty years (with a few experiments with other
types of electrics that simply don't work as well) including two
other models of the self cleaning variety. This one is by far the
best. The shave is very, very close, even compared to the
excellent 8585. The cleaning/charging base, which is white, also
fits my bathroom much better than the prior models, which had a
grey base. The only real negative I can find with this model is
that the travel case that comes with it is really a piece of
garbage compared to previous models of Braun shavers (it's clear
plastic and just plain ugly and cheap.) However, this is probably
the best electric shaver that you can buy right now.
"Warning - Amazon will not exchange
this product when faulty" 2010-02-16
By
Stephen Hayes (Dallas, TX)
The unit I received was faulty (would not clean), however Amazon
would not accept returns of the product (even for exchange).
Presumably because of the container of cleaning fluid that is
shipped with it. Since it is a complex piece of machinery, I
cannot recommend buying it with Amazon.
