Shin Splint Treatment

Shin Splints can be a real problem particularly for runners. It starts with a nagging pain in the shin area and gets progressively worse over time. Shin splints can be caused by a number of factors including incorrect footware, muscular imbalances and over use.

Shin Splint Treatments range from postural analysis to address muscular imbalances, ultrasound, physiotherapy and heat treatment.

One of the first and hardest things you need to do is stop the activity that is making the problem worse. Usually running! I have many clients who when told if they want an improvement will have to stop road running for a while look at me as though I was mad. Unfortunately if you don't stop, trust me the problem can get a lot worse. The pain will become unbearable and permanent damage can be done. You have been warned!

All is not lost though there are things that can be done to help strengthen and prevent the problem reoccuring.
