Wigwam Motel on Route 66
Along the famous Route 66 on Foothill Rd. Rialto, California you’ll find The Wigwam Motel. From the pictures you can already see why this motel is so different, but what the pictures won’t say is that this Motel is rated number 1 in all San Bernardino, with so many glowing reviews we just had to check it out for ourselves. The idea of lodging in a teepee style motel room actually had us all excited, but when we got there to say we were surprised would be an understatement. The Tepees are actually 30 feet tall, all situated like they are in a little village. Outdoor barbeque grills, swimming pools, and all the modern conveniences you are accustomed to at home. Full Bath and shower, air conditioning, free wifi access, very comfortable beds big enough to sleep an entire family and they had two in each room. The rooms were maybe just a touch outdated, but made the experience more true to form as far as wigwams are concerned, but still better than most motels. I thought maybe we would be cold, but not a chance, nor we ever hot during the day. The swimming pool is beautiful, the staff was outgoing and friendly, and the innkeepers took good care of us. The prices were very reasonable at about 50 dollars a night when we went, and all in all at times it felt like we were back in the past with the comforts of the present. If you’re going down Route 66 definitely make your motel reservations at the Wigwam Motel. You’ll never forget the experience! Recommended Highly!

Building a motel where all of the rooms were located on a single level was less expensive for the motel owner, and made more sense for their type of travel customers. Early motels could also be built to accommodate fewer rooms than city hotels because they just did not have as many customers to cater to.
