Will The Philippines Participate In
Earth
Hour 2009?The lights will go off for one hour on March 28 at 8:30
pm in key cities in the Philippines and all over the world. It's
called
Earth Hour. This lights-out initiative,
which began in Sydney in 2007 as a one-city environmental campaign,
has evolved into a grassroots action that has attracted worldwide
attention. In 2008, 371 cities across 35 countries turned their
lights out in a united call for action on climate change and energy
conservation. Global landmarks – such as the Golden Gate Bridge in
San Francisco, Rome's Colosseum, and the Coca Cola billboard in
Times Square – all stood in darkness, symbols of hope for a cause
that grows more urgent by the hour. Earth Hour
2009 aims to reach one billion people in 1,000
cities all over the world. To help reach this goal, a global
sign-up campaign and competition is again being launched worldwide.
Last year, the Philippines ranked 9th in terms of total sign-ups.
All Filipinos are urged to sign up at
Earth Hour's
global website: http://www.earthhour.org.
Earth
Hour Philippines
2009 hopes to involve 10 million
Filipinos and 500 businesses in key cities across the country. from

What Will You Be Doing On March 28 This Year?
Earth HOUR 2009?Many countries are participating
this year, on March 28, to combat power demand and climate change.
Basically, everyone who wants to join in is supposed to TURN OFF
ALL OF THE LIGHTS in their house on March 28, for one hour -- from
8:00pm - 9:00pm. Use candles for lighting.. The goal is to show how
much we can conserve and save AS A PLANET if we all work together
to make this place better for everyone. One hour of no lights
around the world will save TONS of electricity, and help others
become aware of the demand and find alternative sources of energy
(such as wind, solar, hybrid, etc) to power our world. Even though
I don't believe in global warming, (which is one of their main
goals), I DO believe in working together and saving energy -- as
well as using alternative power sources. I'm in.. are you? SPREAD
THE WORD!!! www.earthhour.org

Earth 122012 is 20 + 12 = 32, age of Jesus when crucified Did you
know that in his/her boredom, “Thanks for reading this” theorized
in Yahoo Answers, Religion Spirituality section, that 2012 could be
20 + 12 = 32, the approximate age of Jesus when He was crucified
and died? I answered that he/she is correct in his/her theory. When
Jesus died, He was actually 32 solar years old, equivalent to 33
lunar years. This is found in the results of a study that I did to
check if what the Holy Spirit said regarding the crucifixion of
Jesus on August 17 is correct or not.... Is this a sign that God is
warning us of the impending calamity around 2012, like the end of
the Mayan’s calendar cycle? but this could or could not be, the not
the end of the world yet. i am just saying i'm paying attention to
these little signs, which really should not be happening this fast
So what do you think about this Christian opinion's please, if you
are Atheist then why would you even bother with me, i mean you're

Are People Doing The 28th March
Earth Hour?C'mon
do it. I am. I'm switching everything off. T.V, Computer, Lights
(of course). Anything used electrically. I think it's a good idea,
and voting. Apparently people are doing it because the people in
WWF, want to see if 'Global Warming' is real. It says: '
Earth Hour is an international event that aims to
draw attention to climate change and global warming. The goal is
for 1 billion people to switch off their lights as part of a global
vote in the world’s first global election, between
Earth and global warming. The results of the vote
will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change
Conference in Copenhagen 2009.' So are you gonna do it? And what
will you do? And how long? Over an hour? Mine will just be an hour.
At least we can do it every year. *If people don't know when it is:

2009 8:30-9:30pm

Do You Agree With The US Military That Climate Change Is A Threat
To National Security?'The changing global climate will pose
profound strategic challenges to the United States in coming
decades, raising the prospect of military intervention to deal with
the effects of violent storms, drought, mass migration and
pandemics, military and intelligence analysts say. Such
climate-induced crises could topple governments, feed terrorist
movements or destabilize entire regions, say the analysts, experts
at the Pentagon and intelligence agencies who for the first time
are taking a serious look at the national security implications of
climate change. Recent war games and intelligence studies conclude
that over the next 20 to 30 years, vulnerable regions, particularly
sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and South and Southeast Asia,
will face the prospect of food shortages, water crises and
catastrophic flooding driven by climate change that could demand an
American humanitarian relief or military response. An exercise last
December at the National Defense University, an educational
institute that is overseen by the military, explored the potential
impact of a destructive flood in Bangladesh that sent hundreds of
thousands of refugees streaming into neighboring India, touching
off religious conflict, the spread of contagious diseases and vast
damage to infrastructure. “It gets real complicated real quickly,”
said Amanda J. Dory, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for
strategy, who is working with a Pentagon group assigned to
incorporate climate change into national security strategy
planning.'

emc=th Now, I know the US military and Pentagon are full of liberal
socialist tree-hugging communists, but putting their obvious
leftist biases aside, do you agree with their conclusions that
climate change is a threat to national security? aceking - nice,
taking denial to a new level. Okay, how about this military report
from 2 years ago saying the same thing?
http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/apr2007/2007-04-16-05.asp My
mistake, I didn't realize the Military Advisory Board's opinions
are no longer valid because its members are retired from the
military. Way to disrespect retired military personnel, aceking.
Very patriotic.

New Year
2009 Delayed By One Second To Correct
Atomic Clocks, Does It Really Matter ? ?New Year will arrive a
second late when time across the globe is adjusted to account for
the
Changes in the Earth's rotation. A 'leap
second' will be added onto the final minute of 2008 because the
planet is gradually slowing down as it spins on its axis. The tweak
will help correct the time-lag which shows up on ultra-accurate
atomic clocks. It is the 24th time since 1972 that the adjustment
has been made by the Paris based International
Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service at
intervals varying from six months to seven years. The last was in
2005. Historically, time was based on the rotation of the
Earth relative to celestial bodies. Earth's trip
around the sun is about 365.2422 days long, which we round down to
365. Every four years, during a leap year, the inaccuracy is
corrected by adding a day in February. Mechanisms such as the
Internet-based Network Time Protocol and the satellite-based Global
Positioning System (GPS) depend on the accurate time kept by atomic
clocks. That extra second will make 2008 – already long with an
extra day on Feb 29 – the longest year since 1992. The decision to
add an extra second was made by an international consortium of
timekeepers, whose American arm announced the extension. World
commerce and digital technology depend on accurate to-the-second
timekeeping, said Geoff Chester, spokesman for the US Naval
Observatory in Washington, responsible for one-third of the world's
atomic clocks. Thank you for your time cares ~fiazio

New Synthesis Report From The
2009 Copenhagen
Climate Change Conference With The Most Up To Date
Science?http://climatecongress.ku.dk/pdf/synthesisreport/
'Participants came from nearly 80 different countries and
contributed with more than 1400 scientific presentations.' 'This
report has been critically reviewed by representatives of the Earth
System Science Partnership (ESSP)ii, by the parallel session chairs
and co-chairs, and by up to four independent researchers from each
IARU university. This extensive review process has been implemented
to ensure that the messages contained in the report are solidly and
accurately based on the new research produced since the last IPCC
Report, and that they faithfully reflect the most recent work of
the international climate change research community.' 'The
scientific evidence today overwhelmingly indicates that allowing
the emission of greenhouse gases from human activities to continue
unchecked constitutes a significant threat to the well-being and
continued development of contemporary society.'

A Fundamental But Elusive Step In The Early Evolution Of Life On
Earth Has Been Replicated In A Laboratory.?I want
to hear how this is disputed... “By changing the way we mix the
ingredients together, we managed to make ribonucleotides,” said
Sutherland. “The chemistry works very effectively from simple
precursors, and the conditions required are not distinct from what
one might imagine took place on the early Earth.” (here)
http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/05/ribonucleotides/
Originally considered a dud, an old volcano-in-a-bottle experiment
designed to mimic conditions that may have brewed the components of
life might have been right on target. (here)

@ But that could be Death: You are an idiot and also a d*ck.
Obviously, the number of nucleotides has nothing to do with these
articles. Also no one was present at the moment life began, thus we
are relegated to using the 'end product' to discover the processes
in which the 'end product' came to be. Also, like Neil stated, the
language of science is indefinite for a reason. I'll take you up on
that head croquet. Go ahead and lay down, I got first stroke.
