Intelligence?I was just wondering if this is true or, if it just
something said by medical professional to make

subjects I was ever good at in high school were math/science. I am
going back to school now and I feel so dumb having to take my test
in the learning center with extended time. And I am trying to go

I Am A Special Needs Student. What Can I Do About A Teacher
Discriminating Against Me?I am a college student at Wichita State,
and I have dyslexia and ADHD. In my evening Chemistry 211 class,
when I informed the teacher that I would need to have her send the
test to the disability
Testing center, she told me
'that's going to be inconvenient, because I teach somewhere else
during the day'. The day I report to the test center, I get my test
packet, and sit down to take my test. On the second problem I have
to refer to to periodic table she provided... IT ONLY HAS THE MASS
#, NOT THE ATOMIC MASS- the exact thing I need to perform
calculations. I step out of my

inform the proctor. My anxiety shoots through the roof. After 20
minutes, they get a hold of this teacher, and she says it was 'an
accident'. I resume taking my test, but did not get extra time to
make up for the lost because the center closed at a certain time. I
end up not able to finish the test, and because of all the
worrying, I answer a few incorrectly, and get a bad grade.What are

My Neighbor Is A Scientologist And Says ADD Is Not Real?I have
ADHD, am in my mid twenties and once I started taking medicine
(Ritalin) for it my entire life changed, along with therapy it was
like a window opened. I am actually concentrating and I love it. My
neighbor is a Scientologist and once she found out is trying to
convince me to come to her Scientologist center for a test, and
wants me to get off ALL my medication even my asthma inhaler, she
says ADD does not exist and I have bad thetins or something I need
to get out. I said my medicine is working very well and it has NO
side effects except for decreased appetite. She keeps asking me to
come with her to the center and said I might have to bring a few
hundred. What do you think? i don't know a lot about Scientology

Symptoms of Asperser's include: impaired ability to utilize social
cues such as body language, irony, or other subtext of
communication; restricted eye contact and socialization; limited
range of encyclopedic interests; preservative, odd behaviors;
didactic, verbose, monotone, droning voice; concrete thinking;
over-sensitivity to certain stimuli; and unusual movements. All
these are the symptom of autism and we have the treatment for all

that require sustained mental effort. Loses things necessary for
certain tasks or activities, such as pencils, books or toys. Easily
distracted. Forgetful in the course of daily activities.

evident there is a major problem, or because the child is very

consider that their child has an attention deficit problem. These

argues and refuses to comply with adults and deliberately annoys
others. conduct disorders occur in at least 25 per cent of
children. The child may be destructive or show deceitful behavior
such as lying, breaking rules and stealing. specific learning
difficulties, including dyslexia, occur in 25-30 per cent of
children. severe clinical depression occurs in about 30 per cent of
children. anxiety disorders occur in 30 per cent of children. What
causes ADHD? Biological Temperamental, as this contributes to their
attitude and personality. Twins suggest a genetic link to ADHD. In
80-90 per cent of identical twins where one has
Adhd so does the other. Recent research also
suggests there is a greater chance of inheriting the condition from
male relatives such as grandfathers and uncles. Brain injuries due
to birth trauma or pre-birth problems. The brain structures
believed to be linked to the development of
Adhd
are vulnerable to hypoxic damage during birth. The damage is caused
by inadequate oxygen (QI flow) reaching parts of the brain while
blood flow is reduced. Environmental conditions: Family stress.
Educational difficulties. ADHD diagnosis Observations to the
assessment of a child with possible ADHD. There is no single
diagnostic test for
Adhd so different sorts of
information needs to be gathered, such as the following: History of
symptoms The precise nature of the difficulties, when they were
first noticed, in what situations they occur, factors that
exacerbate or relieve them. Medical history Risk factors that could
predispose the child to
Adhd include difficulties
and risks in pregnancy and during birth, for example if the mother
was in poor health, very young or drank alcohol or smoked or had an
extended or complicated labor. Several medical conditions are known
to be associated with ADHD. These include fragile-X syndrome, fetal
alcohol syndrome, G6PD deficiency, phenylketonuria and generalized
resistance to thyroid hormone. Accidents, operations and chronic
medical conditions such as epilepsy, asthma and heart, liver and
kidney disorders all need to be taken in to account. Also of
possible relevance is any medication the child is taking, as well
as any adverse reactions they have had to medication in the past.
Past psychiatric history: Enquiring about any mental health
problems the child has had can help rule out depression or anxiety
being behind the symptoms. Educational history: This means the
level of their ability and what specific difficulties they have,
how they function within their peer group and get on with teachers,
and any behavior difficulties such as suspensions or exclusions.
Family history: The mental and physical health of the child's
parents and other family members can be relevant, particularly
regarding the incidence of
Adhd or depression.
Less then 1% ahs the family history but this is one of the research
data base. Social assessment: The family's social circumstances,
such as housing, poverty, and social support may all have an impact
on the child's behavior. Less then 4 % has this problem but it
should be taken into consideration. What treatment is available for

Help My 4 Year Old Is Out Of Controll?i have a 4 year old girl whos
behoviuor is out of controll , she has the worse temper tantrum and
has at least 20 a day , every thing has to go her way and has to be
done when she wants it done and if not she is uncotrolable , i am
not really sure what to do any more .. i am unable to leave the
house and can not take her any where because of this she has been
like this since about 18 months i have atken her to the doctors and
to a behaviour center to try and correct this and nothing has
helped i have changed her diet and still nothing .. she doesnt know
how to keep still and is always going flat chat ... i am
considering having her tested for

How Does Expulsion Work In Virginia Under These Conditions?I got
expelled in April of 2008 for something I did in January of 2008. I
had my preliminary hearing while I was in the Juvenile Detention
Center. This hearing was not unanimous thus allowing me to go to
another hearing in April in front of the County School Board. This
Hearing was unanimous. A few months later i was diagnosed with
ADHD. (I don't know if 'diagnosed' is the right word but..) This
means i have an IEP (Individualized Education Program) for my ADHD.
It means that every disciplinary action has to be treated
different. Now I'm NOT using
Adhd as an excuse or
disusing it. I did not magically come up with ADHD. I have been
tested for
Adhd in 3rd, 6th, and lastly 10th.
Every time (except for the last time) i was borderline. So i have
had problems with attention and hyperactivity almost all my life.
This of course does not excuse my actions. Well back on it, my mom
has been reading the law books, County School rules, etc.. But she
can not find anything about people who have gone back after the
Expulsion decision and then found out they had an IEP. So my mom
does not know if we can go back and try to get another decision
from the School Board. Any help would be helpful. and please no
disrespectful comments.

Scientologist Lady Wont Leave Me Alone, Please Help?I have ADHD, am
in my mid twenties and once I started taking medicine (Ritalin) for
it my entire life changed, along with therapy it was like a window
opened. I am actually concentrating and I love it. My neighbor is a
Scientologist and once she found out is trying to convince me to
come to her Scientologist center for a test, and wants me to get
off my medication, she says ADD does not exist and I have bad
thetins or something I need to get out. I said my medicine is
working very well and it has NO side effects except for decreased
appetite. She keeps asking me to come with her to the center and
said I might have to bring some money. She comes over to our house
daily now. What do you think? i don't know a lot about Scientology

My Disability Accommodations Were Revoked And I Failed A Class
Because Of It, Who Should I Talk To?So I attend a University of
Cali School and I just this year in my senior year have gotten
diagnosed for a math learning disability and severe ADHD. I was
provided note,test and tutor accommodations by the disability
resource center for two of my classes. I passed those accommodated
courses with Bs (something that never happened in the past) and I
failed the third class. I have failed a lot since I was a freshman
(in 4th year now) and feel I have been treated unfairly because my
performance with these two classes show the accommodations worked.
The third class I failed was one where my accommodations were
cancelled part way through the term for no apparent reason and
never replaced. The note taker had some conflict and the physics
department tutor would not meet with me but always said I needed to
reschedule. I feel I should get my Fs voided because I can show I
do well with full accommodation and the Physics department wants to
kick me out. What are my options? Who would I contact if I did want
to pursue my legal options? Is there a free lawyer service? The
note takers are students already in the class.

Troubled Three Year Old Boy Parent?My son just started going to
this learning center a week ago. He has been spending the summer
with his grandparents for the past three months. Now he is back
home. He is going to this learning center that he attended when he
was two before he went to go see his grandparents. He is now three.
Well, the learning center told me today that they could not handle
my three year old. That he doesn't listen to the teachers, that he
is very active and he can't stay still. The learning center told me
to go get my child tested for behavoiral problems which can lead to
possible ADD or ADHD. My son is very good with me. I called his
grandmother and she told me that the daycare that he attened while
he was up there had no problems with him. The director told me if
he does not start listening to the teachers he will be kicked out.
I thought he was being a three year old. Any advice on what I
should do so he doesn't get kicked out? Does anyone have the same
problem with their child? Please Help

Having A Bad Day?I've been having a bad day for the starting of the
week. I go to a tech school for automotive and I'm being forced to
graduate early due to me not having a certification I have improved
my grades and have more cofidence in the lab. The thing that is
making me so upset is that we don't get any class room lectures.
Last term I was in brakes and alls we got was maybe 8 hours of
lecture and was expected to pass a state certification test. The
realy screwed up part of it all it is a Tech center for people with
disiabiltys physical and mental and I have
Adhd
and I graduated with a 9th grade level of education and decided
after being out of school for ten years and nothing behind me that
coming to a special education school that there would be special
teachers to help with the book work the only thing we get is a
education center and none of the teachers in that class knows how
to help with automotive related things and we have one instructor
with no asstiant and 20 students.

Does Anyone Have A Solution To VERY BAD Anxiety?I have a very
serious problem. My life is pretty much centered around school for
the sole reason of my ADHD. It is very very hard for me to
concentrate when I don't have medication in me and that would be
oh, about, every day after school. To put this in perspective, I'll
tell you that; something that would take one of my friends twenty
minutes to do would take me one hour. Tested and proven. I have
been on highest honors for two years, after having Cs and Ds for my
freshman and sophomore year, and this week is the week of finals
and graduation. I had a stomach ache last night so I just didn't
eat. This morning I can't even breathe from the pain of my stomach
and bowels. I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome...maybe this is a
product of said ailment? I dunno, however, I do know that I need a
solution. This cannot go on when I get to college. It just can't.
And please, spare the funny comments and hilarity because this is
serious..I am serious.

How Do I Look For Dartmouth?I just signed up for this site, so it
I'm posting in the wrong place or something... SAT stuff: I've got
a 720 Math 620 Writing 680 Verbal, but I didn't study; I just
walked in. It'll go way up. I'm taking the SAT II tests for Physics
and Chemistry, I should get around 800 for both. For AP stuff: I'm
going to get a five for all of my AP tests that I'm taking at least
my Junior year, not trying to sound overconfident, I've easily
gotten those scores on my Mid-Years. Ok, my grades for Sophomore

Committee for Self-Defense. I was on the Science Bowl Team at my
school, which is an incredibly selective group of five students
which compete in the National Science Bowl. We made it to state
this year. I'll be the captain of the Science Bowl Team and the
school's Science Team next year. I am on a cherity comittee which
raises money for various organizaions in the Boston area. I teach
underprivileged youths Karate for two hours a week, every week, for
three years. I am a third-degree brown belt in Karate and a blue
belt in Jujitsu. I tutor six Freshman in Physics for two hours,
every week. I tutor a Sophomore with learning disabilities(ADHD) in
Chemistry for two hours, every week. I tutor a Junior in Biology
for one hour, every week. I tutor grade-school students at a local
elementary school in math for one hour, every week. I am a member
of my school's Yoga committee. I am a member of my school's
Committee for Social Justice. Summer stuff: Last summer I did an
internship in a BioTech lab in Thailand, along with a bunch of MIT
students. I learned some Thai and a lot about scientific processes.
The lab is owned by the Princess of Thailand; I will be able to get
a letter of recommendation from one of the most respected members
of the lab's faculty. This summer I'll be doing an internship at
Lincoln Labs at MIT, which is pretty well known. I'll also be
learning Differential Equations and Multivariable Calculus. Other
stuff: Next year I'll be taking: AP Calculus BC AP US History AP
Physics C (Again for lab credit) AP Stat. AP Biology (Either that
or History of Scientific Thought H) English course H English course
H Learning Center Latin I H Multivariable Calculus Linear Algebra
Outside of school my Senior year: Differential Equations Intro to
Quantum Physics (At either MIT or another program) Wave Mechanics I
do a bunch of self studying, and I show an extreme interest in
Particle Physics that I cannot adiquitely disceibe here, just take
it for granted that I will be able to wow the Dartmouth people on
the interest front. My sister graduated from Dartmouth in '06,
she'll give $2000 to the College when I apply. I know the deposed
PM of Thailand personally? I'm really just mentioning anything that
I think will help. Danny: People tend to pay more attention to me
when I say that I go to some great college. It actually helps me
point-wise. This does not matter though.
