How Do I Get My Husband To Want To Come Back And Stop The Divorce Proceedings Before It's Too Late? Sorry, I didn't know how to add the details of my situation. Maybe this will help all of you that responded understand why I seem to be asking a rhetorical question. Some of you believe that if he left me, which he did, if he's filed for divorce, there's nothing I Can do. But there are mitigating circumstances. I used to do animal rescue wound up with 9 dogs and a cat that never found new homes. He wanted them gone in the end, I couldn't part with them at the time (mainly because of my huge depression needing them as much as they needed me then). He thought I loved them more than him, which was not true, that, because I wouldn't get rid of them, he had no choice but to leave (but he didn't tell me this, he just left). He has also said I was emotionally abusive (also mainly due to my depression, which he doesn't get). He was going to come back at the 4 month point, but when he found out all the dogs were still here he thought I didn't want to save our marriage, (not true). I had almost found a foster home for 1 dog but it fell through at the last minute. A week after I found out what he said about coming back I finally found that dog a new foster home, but when I told him this explained that I WAS trying to do everything to save the marriage, he said it was too late. He now says everything from 'we're not meant to be together' to 'it's you' but he won't explain what things about me he doesn't like. You must realize that we've been a couple for 17 years, married for 15 years, and I've known him for almost 19 years and we started out as friends for 1 1/2 years (all the right ingredients), we even lived together for about a year before marriage. But he's going through a midlife crisis, and his job is beyond stressful, and I'm getting all the blame, basically. We tried marriage counseling, but my depression made that incapable of helping, at THAT time, the counselor told me later he knew it wouldn't help. I love him very much want him back. But he's still seeing that (stupid) marriage counselor (alone) and he's being ill-advised. We're Christians, our faith dictates staying together (God HATES divorce) there's no adultery involved, but this so-called Christian counselor, who is not a licensed marriage counselor by the way (and is a former pastor), has told my husband it's okay to get out because God will forgive him, because it's not the 'unforgivable sin' afterall. This is heretical and I feel it's unforgivable. I know if he sought a true Christian counselor that told him God's word says to work it out no matter what, ( now that I'm on meds for the depression, I'm placing the dogs into new homes, and 2 have died since he left too), I know we Can work things out. But I don't know how to get him to meet with me and talk about things. Can anyone with expertise (perhaps a marriage counselor out there) help me w/this situation? I want him back. [ Read More ]
