ADHD, Depression, Or Am I Just A Pathetic Loser?For the past year and a half or so, I have been unable to concentrate on anything. Growing up, I was always the exact opposite-- I was like a mini-adult who could focus anytime, anywhere. I was very responsible. Now (I'm almost 18), while all my peers are maturing, I seem to be going the other direction. My grades are suffering A LOT... that's my biggest concern. I try to do homework and I will just stare at the pages for hours. Nothing in particular is distracting me; my mind just races with trivial matters. My mom has been like this all her life. She tells me that I'm probably depressed (I have been depressed for several years) and that it's probably getting worse. I think it's the OPPOSITE though. Working, meeting lots of new people, and having a car and more going on in my life have really started to pull me OUT of depression. I FEEL GOOD. But the happier I get, the harder it is to focus. It's not just a phase-- please don't tell me that. This is close to two years now. My mom also says that when I start college things will be better because it will be a fresh environment, but I think that actually might make things worse! If I'm caught up in all the fun, how will I ever be able to do mental work again?? So, my question to you is: any advice? Is it possible to have Adhd and not be hyper and bouncy all the time? (I'm pretty mellow and have always had a low energy level... but that's been true since the day I was born, not just since the depression) I took an Adhd Test Online and it said I have a moderate possibility. When they asked questions about what was going on inside your head, it was EXACTLY my situation. However, my body's activity does not fit with the Adhd description.
